Excellent and to the point video. Thank you. See it’s possible to show people what to do without taking 20 minutes
Facts
You are absolutely right
No wonder I could not find the transmission dipstick I can't thank you enough thank you and I have Subscribed to your channel.
So glad I came across this video. I never even thought of changing the transmission oil in the car. It's a 2012 had it for 2 years and no listing anywhere of when it was last changed. Seems like that will be this week's job along with the oil. Thank you for your help
Have you changed ATF? How many miles has your car? did you have any problems with transmission after?
These cars are so well done. Just like Hyundai wanted their mechanics and diy owners to actually enjoy working on the car.
Sometimes not all the time lol
Idk these cars are kinda a pain. Motor blows and gets a recall for it. Rubber Transmission lines breaking because they are too short and crack. And that’s because me and my dad stay on top of maintenance.
It certainly depends what it is, steering coupler nope, serpentine belt pain in the ass
Rear rotor replacement says otherwise, one of the worst bolt placements I've ever seen on a car.
@@aconformist1 Yep. I was going to say the OP obviously has never replaced the rusted out rear brakes, rotors and pads, parking brakes, or rusted out calipers every year.
Totally awesome video. short and straight to the point no bs no obnoxious background music. would have been even better if you remove / drop down the engine cover on that side of the vehicle to access the transmission drain plug instead of cutting. but overall, awesome video. thank you so much for showing us how this DIY. I have a 2013 hyundai sonata and I need to do this. liked and sub!
It's not much trimming but yes you can remove if you choose.
That was a perfect video, to the point Thank you
Fantastic video. Thank you!
Excellent video. The main problem with my 2015 sonata is that I have no clue how or where to put my floor jack on the undercarriage to safely jack up the vehicle. I have seen an older video where he rigged up 2 X 4s along the sides under the doorjam... but why is that necessary?
Check the owner's manual, it should show you the jacking points
Thanks! Great video. Solid visuals to help locate everything and follow the process. You didn't mention if the fill hole needs to be open when checking the level but I noticed the funnel still inserted as you went to show the location of the fluid level viewing port. Quality over quantity in this video! New sub for sure.
Luckily I had your videos for my 2014 Honda and now my 2011 Hyundai lol! I am currently changing the trans oil. I filled her up with about 3 1/2 qts because there was a small leak thru one of the bolts on the back side of tranny. I wanted to know can I still fill up the transmission oil thru filler while car is on and overfill cap off? Or do I need to turn car off to top her off with overfill cap on and then turn her on and remove the overfill cap? Thanks in advance!
Just follow the way I showed in the video, that's the right way to check the level
How do you how many litters you need
5 quarts
Just 1 question once you removed the transmission fluid check plug... what did you do next? Did you let the car run then eventually put it back on or what?
yes let it run once it drips like in the video at operating temp you're good to go
Hello. Do you know what the plug/sensor piece is called thats beside fill plug?
Some transmission module/sensor
I guess you could also pour in what you drained out, instead of pulling the check plug. Assuming it was filled properly to begin with.
Not the best option but you can do that
yeah i wouldn't do that - put new fluid in.
@@mikemoyercell that's what I meant. Measure the old fluid that drained out, then pour in same amount of new fluid.
@@kalani1987 --The fluid level might have been low before so not a good idea
Does the transmission not have a filter??
It does, but you need to take the trans pan off, and you should never change the fluid and filter both pick 1 or the other
Every transmission has a filter, if you been regularly changing the fluid you don't need to worry about the filter
Why some people say Don't ever replace transmission fluid or you get transmission failure?
Don't ever flush, you can change it.
My father in law told me I'm supposed to use a certain oil for a CVT engine during transmission fluid change. Do you know what Oil is supposed to be used for this transmission change? I can't find details anywhere
Look on the back of the owners manual
hyundai sonata 2016 80k miles running good. You can change the transmission fluid ??
Yes
Is the whole trans fluid flushed this way? What about the fluid in the torque converter?
Can't get everything out. And the term "flush" is not to be used with transmissions. Flushing transmissions will destroy them. Drain and fill like in this video is all that's needed.
can't you technically drive it for a minute then drain it again so all the fluid comes out?
The torque converter holds some fluid. To give the new fluid a chance to circulate into the torque converter, I'd drive it several hundred miles, and then drain and fill, again. Years ago, some torque converters came from the manufacturer with a drain plug. Alas, no more!@@josea285
What kind of trans fluid does the 2013 Hyundai Sonata 2.4l take?

Where do I find another filler bolt 😢
Dealership
Bro why they bolted the starter by the transmission lmaoo my mechanic was so pissed lmao hyundais are a pain in the assssss sometimes
At least you don't have to remove the transmission to access the starter. Yes there are cars like that.
Is this the same for the 2012 hybrid
If it has the same transmission yes
Is the pan easy to replace? Mine is punctured
Should be just remove the plastic undertray you'll see it
Do you think it's necessary to replace the filter as well? I've always done it on my Fords and Lincolns with every transmission fluid change, but not sure since I haven't seen anyone actually change the filter on these hyundais.
no. it is built in oil pan and is eventually only replaceble while rebuilt ( 150-200 k- miles )
@@michazychowski3325 Ahh okay, I gotcha, well I won't worry about it then, thanks!
no need really
what oil do you recommend for sonata 2013 2.4

next change how much kilometer ?? reply mee ...............
Every 100k km or earlier is good
@@MrRangerZr1 lol 50kilometer company said without filter ????toyota 100k
How many quarts of transmission oil????
You need to buy 5 quarts
Where is the filter or does this need changed?
You can't access the filter unless you're doing a transmission teardown.
Not easily accessible, just change the fluid regularly.
@@bluesriderDF Really?..Wow..Good to know
@@MrRangerZr1 Thnx
What is oil no ?

Does the vehicle need to be running to check fluid
yes as shown
Why would it be so fuccin difficult
It's not as you just saw lol
