I was a store manager at KB in 1998. I remember this Black Friday fondly. Or as we called it, GREEN Friday lol. Furby craze was bonkers. I loved seeing this video.

I miss this and Toys R Us.
The mall was my comfort zone. My grandparents would take me to KB Toys, Sears, JC Penny's, and we would eat at Luby's. Then we would go to the Target and TRU across the street. I miss them so much. If you're a younger person seeing this, do not be in a hurry to grow up.

I second that. You kids out there, enjoy yourselves. Live life. Enjoy what you have, take the time to appreciate how fun it is to be young. Growing up can be fun too but many of us wish we could go back to being a kid again.

Kids nowadays are way too invested in their phones or social media to ever truly experience times like we had. Mall scene and just the overall vibe is dead. It's sad.

I agree I am 44 and remember wanting to grow up so fast! I miss how the mall used to be. It's sad to see a decline in the mall with all the online retailers now.

When I see people in footage like this, my mind makes me think they’re forever frozen in time. I think it’s because I don’t know them, so it’s like watching people on a sitcom rerun.

You can train your brain to grasp it, except it's more interesting to hold onto your sense of "damn, this is crazy!". Idk, does that make sense at all? It's interesting to keep those feelings of surprise or awe within you.

my mom took me to this store in our local mall in virginia in the 90s and I got a game boy color pikachu edition yellow with the game included in the box, probably one of the highlights of my younger self. if not the best one, i remember not really knowing much about gaming, never had a handheld game before that and was blown away by it, i ended up beating it which was amazing for a kid my age. not sure how many batteries i went through but yeah, it came from KB toys! not sure if they're still in business anymore but I know that game boy fetches 1000s of dollars now on auction sites. I know I'll never get another one again but just the memory of it is amazing for me to have. i'll be 36 this year and just time flys you dont know it till its too late.

You never realize you’re living in a renaissance until after it’s over, cause the 90’s was truly the “sweet spot” decade for being a kid. Almost everything was marketed with us in mind or geared to our appeal in some way. It was like children had the power. What a crazy time to be alive.

For reals. So much to look forward too. Going to the mall was like a runners high all the time. Toys, movies, and music. Rarely any dull moments as a kid. I’m glad my parents were never that strict and allowed me to enjoy all of it. So depressing what is going today. Everything just went to trash and it’s all about making people dumber.

As a huge Star Wars action figure collector during this time I really miss the thrill of walking into a KB, TRU, etc and and seeing new/hard to find figures hanging on the pegs. Man what a rush that was as a kid. I honestly do not know where 25 years went. They evaporated right in front of my eyes.

0:08-0:48 Those Toss & Tickle Me Elmo dolls must have been a great deal for the toy industry and Sesame Workshop at the time to continue the Elmo craze that started in 1996 and also inspired the creation of the Elmo’s World segments which premiered in November 1998.

That was funny that the associate was handing customers a garbage bag to put toys in while shopping. I guess it was somewhat convenient? LOL
This was during the time when the Furby craze began. I remember when the Furby was re-released in 2012. It was more of a digital version with LCD eyes. My sister in law still has her original Furbys and one 2012 version. They don't work anymore, but they are somewhat collectable. And do I see a Real Talkin' Bubba doll at 3:40? My cousin had one when he was a kid lol
