Haruna is basically plasma front end to mpv. Fcitx5 is useful for inputting non Latin language characters such as Asian languages like Japanese, Korean etc - multilingual people have to use it (available as a flatpak too). Personally, I use strawberry as a music player over Elisa. I prefer to have a swap partition instead of swap to file (Microsoft Windows uses a swap file). If you want Ubuntu and plasma 6 without snaps, use the upcoming tuxedo os.
Haruna Media Player is great! I actually primarily use it because of the ability to turn on a sleek RUclips-like thumbnail preview when you hover over the timeline. On Windows, I use Media Player Classic Black Edition just because of this timeline preview, but Haruna has an even more slick implementation! Highly recommend!
Running Kubuntu plasma, on several computers, 1 for a few years without a problem, and for me it is the most stable Linux distro I've tried, and that's what matters to me. I finally got Debian to install on a system, that is touted to be so great and stable, and it lasted about 4 hours before it totally bombed just while changing back grounds. Went back to Kubuntu and I don't' think I'll look elsewhere. It may not be the prettiest environment for some, but it's easy to install and it just works.
I love kubuntu. I need certain packages to be newer so I run Tumbleweed. I ran kubuntu for about 14 years and never really had an issue with it. It's also what I have on my 82 yr old mother's computer and she likes that it never has an issue. I do the updates and such for her though.
Nice installer yes. And I am a big fun of KDE. But they did not replace the slideshow screenshots during installation, as they're mostly still referring to Lubuntu . I assume that's the icon at the beginning that reminded you of something.
Unfortunately you need Internet access to fix your internet access lol. Connect by wire or a working wireless dongle and go to System settings > driver manager. That should show you any additional drivers you might need

In the installer you have to tick a box or two to have stuff that is proprietary
