    What you said about organic chemistry was my exact thought process when I took it. Heard so many stories from so many people about how hard it was going to be and I kept waiting and waiting, but it never got too bad! I watched your mcat vids this summer when I prepared for mine. Good luck in medical school keep working hard!

    Wow! Im honestly so glad that I came across a video of yours . Your content is very informative like I've seen so many videos about the pre-med journeys but from watching just a few videos of yours, I've picked up so much. I can almost relate to all of your situations from taking ap classes to volunteering at hospitals (Inova/Novant Health)... I just wanted to thank you for giving these great tips and advices. Not only that but you are truly helping out tons of people who are struggling in that medical path, keep up the great work!

    Hey Jai! It's nice to learn about your journey to med school. I really liked how you fit in all the ECs like volunteering, research, and scribing into your sophomore and junior year. Can you explain your ECs from freshman year? I am a rising sophomore and I literally spent my freshman year being buried in the books, volunteering for a while at a hospital until the volunteer coordinator left and I was no longer able to volunteer, and on top of that I only attended one meeting for the premed club and didn't like it at all. Now I'm onto better things and will so start hospital volunteering at a different hospital.

    Hi Jai! First off, great video. It was very informative and I love psychology as well. I also have a question about becoming a scribe. I am an upcoming college sophmore on the pre-med track and I was wondering if it would be better for me to try scribing this school year or junior year. What would you recommend?

    Great vid man! I’ve heard that scribing is a great opportunity but how exactly do you become a scribe? Do you need a specific training or license? Do all hospitals hire scribes?

    • @JaiMedicine
      @JaiMedicine  6 лет назад

      No, no specific training needed aside from the training they give you once you get the job. They have scribing companies like ScribeAmerica and hospitals sometimes have their own private scribing systems, you just have to do some searching in your local area. However, definitely start with ScribeAmerica as they're the biggest one.

    How do you manage to study efficiently during ramadan?

    • @JaiMedicine
      @JaiMedicine  6 лет назад +11

      If food is out of the question, just make sure you're doing all the other things to keep yourself energized and focused while studying; being in a well-lit room, silence, no distractions, etc. Keeping a good diet is important for staying focused but it's definitely manageable to study if you're fasting.

    Was your scribe position a job? as in you were getting paid for it? Do med schools look at paid positions differently when it comes to clinical experience as opposed to clinical experience where you are just volunteering

    • @JaiMedicine
      @JaiMedicine  6 лет назад +1

      Yes, I got paid for scribing. Med schools do not care if you get paid for a position as long as that position gets you a higher level of exposure to the clinical field

    Waiiiittt how did you handle working the long hours as a scribe while in school or did you just work over the summer? Also what are your thoughts of going to George Mason as a pre-med. Cause I am stuck between Virginia Tech which has microbiology as a major and I am interested in that, but if I go to Mason I can continue my volunteering with the Hospital Elder Life Program at INOVA Alexandria hospital and its close to home.

    • @JaiMedicine
      @JaiMedicine  5 лет назад

      I did scribing for a little over a year so I got used to balancing school and scribing. I only worked about 2-3 days a week during the semester but about 3-4 days in the summer. As far as your dilemma, GMU is a great school and so is VT. It's all just a matter of personal preference. Go visit both schools and see which one you would be happier attending. Your chances of getting into med school are much more dependent on your well-being than they are on the college you attend.

  • @kobecao162
    @kobecao162 5 лет назад +1

    How was your undergrad experience at George mason university? Are there any undergrad colleges you would recommend for pre-med? Lastly, how much does your undergrad school institution matter to medical schools?

  • @Bria.dances
    @Bria.dances 5 лет назад

    Did you volunteer over the summer or during school? And I’m worried that I may not do well the first time I take the test. If I take the MCAT between junior and senior year is there time to take it a second time? I am a freshman BTW

    Jai, Im a senior in High School and am currently applying to colleges. I was wondering if i should go to a very good, competitive school or a school that’s less rigorous on a scholarship to get higher grades. I know that Med Schools do’t care where you go, and just look at what your GPA is, but I think that a highly competitive school could also prepare me better for the MCAT. Thoughts??

    • @JaiMedicine
      @JaiMedicine  5 лет назад +2

      Med schools take your undergrad institution into consideration but it's not too important. Preparing for the MCAT is also mostly something that you have to do yourself and most colleges are able to give you the information you need, the ability to learn and use it is mostly down to how hard you work. The biggest factor in your scenario is the scholarship, and I would probably go to the institution that gave me the scholarship.
