      I know high school volunteer work was said to be something not to include in your application, but, I went to a third world country for a month while I was in high school, to help with community development projects and animal rehabilitation. I'm wondering if I should include that experience in my application since it is a bit different.
      What are your thoughts?
      Thanks in advance :)

    ADVICE: The MCAT can be taken up to 7 times in your life time, if your marks are lower and you don't have time to retest before applications open, apply. Be sure to apply more places, unless you have your heart set on a certain school. Acceptance is acceptance in my opinion. If you are rejected from everywhere or the place you really want, then you can go fix things study for longer next time and retest. It will show commitment. Or you can not apply take the time lile a doctor would to prepare for something properly and apply when your ready. Nothing wrong with a years difference unless your my age.

    Just curious, why are applicants required to submit a picture of themselves for medical school?

    So a wealthy kid who majors in drama, 3.5 gpa, an MCAT score, whose parents spend $ 50 K on manufactured personal statements and secondary application, will be chosen over a less fortunate student with 3.80 gpa who majored in biochemstry with an MCAT of 512, who had difficulty finding job after graduation and works asa store clerk to pay bills and has zero dollars to pay for synthetic application... Strange...

    Is it possible to get accepted into medical school as a 3 year graduate instead of the traditional 4 years?

    • @beardsscrubs3062
      @beardsscrubs3062  6 лет назад +5

      Of course! As long as you have completed your prerequisites and meet all the other requirements set by the medical schools you are applying to, then it should be no problem.

    What do you think about the mention of prior military service in the SA? More specifically, prior military service in a medical area, like a Combat Medic?

    • @beardsscrubs3062
      @beardsscrubs3062  6 лет назад +1

      I think that would be great! First of all, thank you for your service. Secondly, I think highlighting anything that shows your dedication to the field of medicine along with wanting to become a physician will serve you well. I would try to touch on specific instances where being a combat medic shaped you and matured you into your path to medicine. Hope this helps!

    I have a BSN in nursing and graduated. Is it okay to just take the prereqs in community college or is it better to apply to a 4 year school to get my prereqs done? I have all the biology covered already.

    Hi beards and scrubs! What is the minimum gpa required for the medical school!

    • @sohyangworld1544
      @sohyangworld1544 3 года назад

      There is none, but a good cut off is 3.0. So of your gpa is below that I wouldn't bother applying until you get your gpa up. But there are people who have gotten in with 3.2's ect... but thats rare. A solid gpa is 3.6+

    Well what about becoming an Eagle Scout. I believe that one it completely different for something you did in high school??

    • @ringchaser4488
      @ringchaser4488 5 лет назад

      if you stayed involved with the scouts then yes..but if you havent stayed active with it since high school then no. An example would be you have your own troupe of young men who you are their scout master or atleast aid in them becoming eagle scouts some day.

    i understand the process of rolling admissions as stated in this video, this is why i plan to submit my application by june. however, i will not be able to take the mcat until late july (obligations & study time). is it worth it for me to apply this cycle? if you need more information feel free to let me know.
