Sorry, never watched this show and am the farthest thing from a chest player but quick question. He lost because the king has to take the queen and her rooks just run the king down?
The king needs to take the Queen, it’s black’s only legal move. But after that, Beth will go 2. R1f6+ Kg5 3. Rg7+ Kh5 4. g4+ Rxg4 5. Bg4+ Kh4. 6. Rf3 with Rh3# being an unstoppable threat. So essentially, she sacrificed her Queen for a forced sequence where she will mate the black king. At least, that’s what I think will happen

Black King to G6 takes White Queen. White Rook F1, to f6, check. Black King moves down one square, white follows, eventually king hits h4 and is taken by pawn, or g4 and is taken by Bishop. Checkmate. Alternately Beltik can move his king up, and down repeatedly, drawing things to a stalemate. But Harmon is ahead on time and wins by time. It's a situation where Beltik can only move his king to get it out of check, and he can't take either of the rooks because they're covering each other. He can keep the match going, but Harmons time lead means delaying will just mean he loses by eventually running out the clock even if he can stall the match he can't threaten any of Harmons pieces
The “checkmate” at the end makes no sense. Qc2 >qg6 for check and queen is gone, the rooks on F don’t protect the queen so it isn’t mate, in fact she just threw the game if that was the actual move. Bishop h3> e6 also makes no sense, she forked queen and rook but is not protected, bishop gone again. I understand that it’s difficult to see the pieces they way they film the scene, it just really bothers me that those terrible moves are seen as something special.
