I bought my 4gpm at power equipment direct. It costed me about 1,300, but you really can start out with one from Home Depot. Just make sure it’s CU is over 7k and you get that number by multiplying the gpm x psi. Best advice is not going with an electric. They just don’t have the power that you’ll need.
Home Depot, Lowes, power equipment direct, Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, Amazon, Local Hardware stores there are lots of places to buy equipment for a pressure washing business.
Essentially, a Honda pressure washer is your best bet. I bought a cheaper Ryobi pressure washer, that uses a Honda motor, years ago. I've used it many times, and it does fine. I would say you really only need super high pressure on concrete.
If you've got a good commercial pressure washing machine rated for 4 or 5 gpm, doesn't that machine require that volume of supply water to operate? What do you do at a residential property that can only supply 2.5 gpm or less? Won't this destroy your machine?
Hopefully an expert can shed some insight on this Chris. Quick research shows that single-family homes, should have a minimum flow of 6 GPM. This flow would provide 360 gallons of water each hour, which would be sufficient to meet most home water peak demands
@@UpFlip Newer homes with 3/4" or larger supply lines are recommended by code and will achieve the 6 GPM rate, but many older homes have 1/2" lines and old lead and steel pipes are often restricted by corrosion and only delivering the equivalent of a 1/4" line. He kinda skirted over that water in the city drain issue when talking about parking garages. It’s a huge deal water capture/reclamation is very costly.
That is so true Joseph. When running a pressure washing or mobile car detailing business it is essential that you learn the water laws and be vary careful how you use and dispose of water.
I have all the pressure washing equipment since 1 years but I don’t know how to stars I mean I tryied with thumbtack but I paid to much leads and no work I don’t know how to catch clients any advice ? And thanks

@@divulgewithchip1099 my bad. Well here’s the deal with that, his machine is capable of running a 4gpm pump. If he hooks up with a line that has low flow or let’s the pump sit on idle for too long, the uploaded recirculates the pump water to keep the pump cooled. The buffer tank is used to keep supply water at hand, and pump water recirculating. If he’s doing this 5 days a week with out one, that pump is toast. That’s not a cheap pump either. But, I’m not the one that should be saying this, I’m not giving the advice. I’m just a nobody. And never claimed to be more. I could however save this guys equipment from failure.

Im starting my pressure washing this year and im starting off washing cars and trucks. So i can learn more about the business do you think this a good way to start?
Don’t do what this guy is doing he is scammer.... what I did was start small I got a $350 pressure washer with a gas engine NON ELECTRIC.... bought a $30 water hose 100ft... if you focus on cars and wood I recommend Low pressure 1600 or less because you can cause problems and unless you have insurance to fix those problems then you are screwed. I did a fixed price for driveways usually around 75-125... cars make it cheap $10
He used the wrong nozzles... all you need is some simple nozzles that adapt to the end of your pressure washer wand a turbo nozzle is for when you want to do medium sized areas like walkways or small driveways... shampoos and conditioners are not beginner tools but certain things like rust spots in driveways need stuff like that but don’t worry about the soaps.
I think there's less liability in trucks, trailers, industrial vehicles as a whole. Cars are more sensitive to pressure washing and paint can chip or marks can be made
Personally I networked out and did my first two jobs free. Then the next few i did I only charged for cost of supplies, gas and $25 per hour. Once your going full, $100 an hour is the absolute lowest charge, and most jobs you won’t even attempt for less than $250.

I didn't hear anything about insurance.. what type does he have.. how much.. (rough premium would be nice). Also, just asking.. what are his thoughts on belt drive vs direct drive pressure washers?
I had to scroll down a ways to find the same question about insurance. You damage someones roof or get water inside their crawlspace can be very costly. That insurance is required around here. I'm very surprised this isn't mentioned in this video as it's one of the essential parts of business. It protects you and the homeowner.

So.....wanna know where he is at now!!!! Hes a true on the up and doing it in these...love this, and the start...I can imagine now hes doubled up or more??? Can we get a 2023??
Maybe one day! Given his hard work, we do imagine he's achieved more too. 🙏
Did anyone catch the Fart at 6:18 lol.
Oh no. We need an extra edit please.
I bought a pressure washer from Lowe's to use for mobile detailing and I realized that I didn't need to spend $550+ on it. I was hoping to possibly use it for washing small ranch style homes but after watching this video, I may not be able to.
Thoughts?
@averywilliams4802 It depends on what kind of washer you bought! What part of the video is making you question your washer?
@@UpFlip My PW is only 2.4GPM.
Do you whipe down the glass windows afterwards or just let them air dry?
Just let them air dry
I would go with that idea for my business but climbing on the roofs or gutter cleaning is not what I want to do.
Loving this. Very helpful
Morning looking at your video like to get the information where you buy your tools
Hey where did you get those water pants bro????
Totally rad great info Thank You!
Glad it was helpful Lavonta!
@@UpFlip Yes, allowing wastewater (contains soap, oil, dirt, etc) to discharge to storm sewer system can be illegal in many jurisdictions.
I have all the pressure washing equipment since 1 years but I don’t know how to stars I mean I tryied with thumbtack but I paid to much leads and no work I don’t know how to catch clients any advice ? And thanks
Extended Pole with turbo nozel tips to clean vinyl siding smh so many things wrong with that entire method..there is such a better, safer, & quicker way..but good luck to you don't stop learning.
He’s running a Honda 390 without a buffer tank 🤭 lol
Know it all
@@divulgewithchip1099 my bad.
Hey james do you own a washer business??im just asking you seem very knowledgeable
@@junemcgowan4579 I own the equipment and will be going independent this year so yes. I’ve already started on some jobs this year.
Really excellent guide to getting into this work.
I am looking at helping my step son who is working in construction but it's casual work. So, when the Contractor leaves the area, what will happen? He may get the opportunity to work away from his young family, or he could get his own business going!
This has a low entry cost, flexible times, independence, the opportunity to build a repeat clientele & so many other positives.
Thanks for putting together such a helpful overview.
You got that right, Paul Evans! With your help, your stepson will go places! If you want to learn more about other low-cost entry businesses, please visit our blog (www.upflip.com/blog) or listen to our podcast (www.upflip.com/podcast).
All the best to your future endeavors!
what was the PSI of the power washer? what does he do during off-season?
Nice job Ryan!
Glad you enjoyed it Boy! Ryan appreciates the kind words. Be sure to check out our other pressure washing content and business videos!
if he makes 500 a day that is almost 200k a year that's pretty damn good for just washing stuff. sounds like something I will start doing this summer
have you started julian?
@@charlieswebb good question
500 a day actually comes to $130,000 per year, not $200,00 (working 5 days per week).
Did he have to get some type of workers/Property damage insurance for his business?
If you dont its only a matter or time before you have an incident. Insurance is an absolute must
Where do you get the actual water from when pressure washing? The persons house?
Yes. It’s minimal cost to them compared to having to bring it to them.
Like the video, wondering if you would just use the customers water for the job? Or if that is an issue. Thanks
Yes only time I use my own water is when they do not have a water source .
@@anthonyortiz532 hey ! I found u , you still need to come and bring back my water hose you stole from my house !!
Uh oh...
@@UpFlip never should of allowed him on my property! Smh
@@mikemendoza6924 lol 😂
Do you have any type of liability insurance for your business?
You’d better have it.
You must have insurance for any type of business. Always remember to check your local laws and to consult with industry experts.
Are you not allowed to down stream in your state?
@UpFlip, You can do an affiliate from amazon and link, put a link to the equipment used on any of the videos, and you someone buys you make some change. Just wondering! 😉
Thanks for all the tips. I really want to start my own in Wisconsin.
Journey of a new entrepreneur, pressure wash help, Southeast softwash, Aaron's lean and mean academy......look up these RUclips channels, in no order....pretty much all the info you need to be successful
I agree with Richard. The guy in this video is not the business model to follow.
Love the vid

How’d you go about contracting those restaurants?
His answer to the questions in the middle 😂😂
Does anyone know how to get the info he’s describing for pricing?
What specifically did you want pricing on?
What’s the machine at 6:00 called?
Try reaching out to the business for that exact info.
Itd be cool to have a follow up episode with him.
Great suggestion! Have you watched the first part too?
where does he get his source of water from ??? i dont see a water tank on truck

Does he not use bleach to clean the siding or roofs?
Thank you for the video, I think I want to do that job 😀
You can do it Ray! Thanks for supporting the channel, we appreciate you.
What’s the winter months like in this business?
Work is steady. You can also supplement the business with jobs like roof cleaning etc. Did you see our recent roof focused power washing business video?
How does he get the machine out of the truck and into the truck? that is heavy.
Thanks for watching R.C. It takes help or a harness. Did you enjoy the video?

Who would you recommend to learn proper methods?
I think there's less liability in trucks, trailers, industrial vehicles as a whole. Cars are more sensitive to pressure washing and paint can chip or marks can be made
Personally I networked out and did my first two jobs free. Then the next few i did I only charged for cost of supplies, gas and $25 per hour. Once your going full, $100 an hour is the absolute lowest charge, and most jobs you won’t even attempt for less than $250.
Is this in Seattle?
Thank you guys.

The host asked all the right questions and Ryan said nothing. He dodged every question. The host asked how do you price or estimate? Ryan never said anything about that.
Hi Dirt Life! You think he provided the answers he believed was appropriate? Are you in the industry?
maybe stupid question but how people acting that you want their water ? why not using electrical pressure but gasoline ?
Hi Matej! What do you mean? You think they should use something else?
@@UpFlip i am not sure people making videos like they dont bring their own water i am just interest how it works , some people have own barrel of water some of them no so i am trying figure it out how it should be "perfect" :)
Are u using the owner water
What water source you use will depend on equipment and approval from the client.
Guy starts from nothing and now makes 6 figures cleaning roofs and wants to get away from America. 🤷♂️
Where do they get their water source from
Most people either bring their own water tanks or ask to use the clients water sources at the property.
He's cool but he does answer questions. He ventures off and talks about something else. This was more inspirational than it was informative.
Maybe just camera shy and trying his best? Idk
Sometimes inspiration can be just as powerful as inforamtion.
Does he supply his own water? Or does he use his clients??
I gather everybody uses customer´s water
Looks like great advice.
We're glad you think so John.😀 Would you ever consider getting into the pressure washing business?
Good job
A spray wash academy class would rock this guys world🤣
Where can you FIND these classes?..... Thxs

Honda pressure washer
I didn't hear anything about insurance.. what type does he have.. how much.. (rough premium would be nice). Also, just asking.. what are his thoughts on belt drive vs direct drive pressure washers?
I had to scroll down a ways to find the same question about insurance. You damage someones roof or get water inside their crawlspace can be very costly. That insurance is required around here. I'm very surprised this isn't mentioned in this video as it's one of the essential parts of business. It protects you and the homeowner.
