I just wish he wasn’t high. I know this is self-serving but as someone who grew up with addicts, watching a podcast that I love with someone on the show who is high is super triggering!

I am really glad that Shane picked up on the unresolved issue and offered that help to Chris - that was an extremely emotionally intelligent thing to pick up on.
I hope Shane follows thru with the offer paying for Chris’s therapy and that we can see Chris evolve after the therapy. I’m sure everyone wants to see Chris thriving emotionally and release some of that baggage so his current relationship stays healthy and is the best it can be.
Literally sitting here watching this and the pause between "I can't afford therapy" and "I will pay for your therapy" was so agonizing lol I know technically it was only like a few seconds but it felt like forever. Like bruh you can afford to fly him to you in order to work, I'm sure you can pay for therapy once or twice a month at the very least. Have a zoom episode or two to skip one flight and it'll pay for it.
I wanted to reach through the screen and hug and cry with Chris. I could see his heart breaking re living and re telling finding out he was cheated on. I found out the same way twice, from the same ex partner, and Chris you are SO much better without him. Nobody deserves that. We all love you so much and I’m so sorry you have that trauma. You are not alone. ❤️

I was in a pretty toxic relationship for over four years before he broke up with me. I relate so hard to Chris’s situation and honestly I agree with what he said about advice and getting over it. There’s not really too much you can do except allow yourself to feel that pain and to work through it every day. Healing is so not linear at all. It’s been almost 2 years since my ex broke up with me and some days I still feel that pain and I still think about when we were talking about getting engaged and feel all those feelings again sometimes. But it does get so so much better. Genuinely. My love goes out to all of those going through any kind of breakup ❤❤❤

I just want to say that you are not alone. You deserve love. You deserve happiness. I am trying to pick myself back up after having my life turned upside down out of nowhere. I was in a relationship that lasted for 17 years. Almost half of my life I spent with this person.

Not the same, but my best friend of 17 years moved out and never spoke to me again. It really is all about learning how to cope with a loss of someone who is still alive. It’s the most painful thing ever. I’m glad we have all made it through. Life is better because we are all here. Thank you all for continuing to exist, it gives me strength daily.

Anyone who has medical anxiety understands exactly how Chris and Shane feel. The thoughts just snowball and before you know it you've legit convinced yourself that it's the worst thing ever (such as cancer, disease, heart attack, going to be unalived etc). You can't just turn off those thoughts or convince yourself you're gonna be okay. It's the worst.

Jerid's advice to Chris was so spot on. I dated a guy who came out of a 10 year relationship and he was so hurt and took that baggage into our relationship and it just broke down because he wasn't over the past and wasn't emotionally available. I think Chris needs to work on himself a little more before giving himself over to a person 100%. The relationship will then be able to thrive without paranoia.
Jerid yet again setting the bar so high. Telling Chris to not doubt himself just over simple things. I love the support everyone gives each other. I hope you guys keep this up for a while.

The whole conversation about Chris getting cheated on and breaking up and the pain he went through was just so heartbreaking. There was a point in the conversation where his face just seemed to go blank, disheartened, hopeless, lost. Maybe I was reading it wrong, but it just tore me up. I do really hope that he can find a way to get back to therapy (I've been in the same situation where money makes it impossible) and help himself through these feelings of not being able to trust. He deserves to be happy.

I’m so glad Shane talked about narcissism and how they are so sick and how couples therapy will do nothing to these people.
I was married to a narcissist for 11 years, it’s been a year that we’ve separated. I had scheduled therapy months ago, but canceled because I got covid and just never rescheduled, and I feel like I am at my worst now, I need desperate help, and this was a huge reminder that I need to schedule that appointment. You have no idea how much this helped. I just want to hug you guys.
It will help you so much. Different but the same, but my mother has Narcissistic Personality Disorder and I would constantly ask her to go get help. I would beg her and expect her to change, but at the end of the day through therapy and a lot of talking I have finally learnt that the only way I can change the cycle of abuse is by changing my reaction to her trauma and her triggers. And while that sounds simply it’s about learning about yourself and your own emotional trauma and how to make your way out the other side.
I hope you find a great therapist that can help you through and it all works out for you 💜
Chris’ ex removed informed consent to a sexual relationship the moment he slept with someone else, and then gaslit him for months. This is effed up. Chris, thank you for sharing and I commend you for getting through that. ❤️
I’m with you Chris. I found out I had chlamydia when I was 6 months pregnant and the only person I was sleeping with for maybe 4 years was my boyfriend so he clearly was cheating on me. My genochologist was just like “…. I’m really sorry.” It was probably the worst time in my life. I stayed unfortunately because I was so pregnant and had no family or friends around. Oh and he tried convincing me I was the one that cheated 🙄. Two years later and I’ve finally broken up with him and thinking back on EVERYTHING (that wasn’t all he did and probably not the worst). Healing is gonna be a long process. But me and our kids still live with him for financial reasons so that obviously makes it so much harder

I think this might be my favorite episode 😮🤔🤔everyone was just so involved somehow like Chris was so open about himself, Shane was super empathetic of him even offering therapy,Jerid was bringing the protective cool big bro energy talking about prioritizing yourself and your mental/physical health. Even spoke about insurance and things to look out for to be able to afford it. Then Ryland was like totally trying to stick up for Chris and like validating that Chris felt bad about the whole situation and reiterating like it’s okay to feel that way “ HE GASLIT you for months” bc sometimes when things like this happen we try to justify the other person somehow or turn to ourselves to think what did we do wrong-bc ik i do that-and like you May have literally done nothing but it’s just instinct bc the way the person treated u so having someone to advocate for those emotions and normalizing u feeling that way is great👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼sooo I loved this episode it felt like super brotherly and sweet, yet fun! I like learned so much with the Mandela effects, Jerid tips and everything 🎉
