I've heard from a lot of old school techs that model of distributor is a pain in the ass! Apparently, later model 51AB flatheads have a different style of distributor that's more reliable and easier to work on. And I believe you can switch it out with the latter. 🤷♀️
Also don't bother trying to get those water pumps to spin just go ahead and replace them! Don't be surprised if the block isn't full of crusty rust cuz a previous owner might have just ran water when they were running it, and then it sat for 60 years, lol. Also, if I were you I would stick with those sealed beam headlights instead of going back to the original 37 style (if you ever want to drive at night)..........not a critique just a little advice 😉 @@rockysramblings
