I haven't bought a Cold Steel knife since the company was sold, so I appreciate the close look at this one. There's one or two of their newer knives that I'd like to try out, but just haven't got around to picking them up yet. Cheers, buddy!

I have the exact same model. My box came with details on it, and it's an excellent knife for the intended use, which is obviously self defense. The pocket clip is actually my favorite of my Cold Steel knives. Unfortunately, they don't make a version for lefties. I'm guessing I'm the same as most people. I'm not a big fan of Cold Steel knives that are made in China. However, this knife is surprisingly good for the price. I thought the steel would be terrible, but it remains hair shaving sharp, even after use. I also have the medium version. If you think the medium version is only a little smaller, you'd be wrong. It's less than half the size. It's still a good knife for people who live in areas with blade length limits.

FYI, the logo on the knife, and the logo on the Cold Steel Website, match exactly. I'm surprised you did not look yourself.

I like the knife but they won't replace the pocket clip if it breaks

Funny thing is the pocket clip. My pockets just aren’t that deep. Even the shmedium is maxed out for pocket carry.

They are the longest blade available for each model. And all are above the blade length of folders usually considered large.
That's my guess anyway. I too am wary of MR. BLACK & also enjoy blacked out knives.

Hmmm... Quiz time... Wracking my brain... Wracking my brain.... Is it that you've had all of those knives before???
Interesting knife. Not sure if it's for me, but you sure can't beat a Cold Steel knife review. 👍
Congrats on the cube. It would be in peices long ago if it were me... 🤷🏼‍♂️

cool knife - i have both - i think gun blue could have a better effect - they are great knives - the small one
( medium ) makes a great steak knife - cuts real good and looks cool doing it

It was designed by a martial artist and is more towards self defence

They are using generic pictureless boxes with the new colors on Luzon 4” and 6” (there are others besides black) and the all black Ti Lite 4” and 6” (only a black variant so far). Also the olive and fde uncoated blade Luzon are now stone washed. I believe deletion of picture and specs is so stores don’t pick the wrong carton - they are forced to look at the label on the box end. Some companies show one picture but package a variant which is worse imho.

    Johnny Juke what happening ?
Hey pal ,do you think that coating will hold up over time ?
I don't believe it's their DLC coating at the cost point of the Luzon or is it ?

The counterpoint says Taiwan , the Luzon says China. Maybe the logo changed with time?

I think the most current logo is a good indicator of manufacturing under the auspices of GSM.
I have been purchasing Crawford 1’s and first the blade logo changed, then the customer service address on the box, then finally, this month, one arrived with an updated logo in the pocket clip.
To mean it means someone at Cold Steel is sweating the details even though their Ventura offices closed as part of the GSM acquisition.

These large knives can be dangerous! Sheath knives are usually tightly retained but large folders, especially liner locks, especially flipper tabs or if thumb tabs are gapped away from handle, can jostle open. Case in point my wife moved stuff around in my knife drawer and knocked a Luzon 6” original color way open. I now use her hair bands to keep blades in handles.
Thanks for the volcano shavings tip. I had two early production Luzons and one Crawford nearly impossible to open.

@@mdubb4855 my Large Luzon has cut me badly twice. It's still my preferred carry knife. Even if I cut my hand while trying to get it out of my pocket quickly, in a self defense situation, I'm going to fight and win with a bloody hand gripping the knife!

Not a fan of liner locks. I like the slide lock for it but it really makes a weak tang. Already bought one of them waiting for it and I'm not going to expect much more for the price I paid

  • @squick1842

What a POS knife. I know it's made in China but I took a chance with it. First, the liner lock is a weak horrible idea. It jams the blade. Same that happened to Joe x in the stress test. Hopefully I can return it.
