Mayra I have used the chayote bc of one of your older recipes. It's exactly like an apple crisp! My whole fam loved it. You have THE best low carb recipes!
Mayra this looks delicious I'm going to try it but I'm going to use the non dairy butter so it will be vegan friendly!!! Thank you so very much for another great recipe. I'll let ya know how it turns out. 🤤💯🥰
Sure happy you let me know where to get chayote conveintly. I have children that do most of my in store shopping for me and need to know where available.
Hi Mayra~Yes, I have eaten a chayote before & loved it so much that I researched their growing requirements. I found out that I may grow them here in Central Florida. SOOO... I quickly planted one in a large pot & placed that in the garden bed near my back door. The next day, my darling Husky is happily chewing something while out for her morning constitutional & I panicked thinking she's eating something dangerous. I run over to find she's crunching on my now uprooted chayote! Well, I let her finish it (except the pit) while scolding her for "stealing" from my garden. I'm trying again but putting the pot on a table! It's always something!😝 BTW, I love your videos & recipes. Thanks for giving us JOY & INSPIRATION to continue a low-carb lifestyle.
They're very easy to grow. In my country, we call them 'centinaria' because it gives you 'hundreds' of fruit. Not really, but they are very prolific if the weather conditions are favourable.
Just made this and boy is it delicious! Super easy to make and really quick prep. The texture of the choyote is really close to what apple pie filling and a very subtle taste of the melon comes through. The crust/crumble really brings it full circle to taste really close to normal apple pie. Would rate this recipe 10/10!
My wife is from the Philippines and eats them. I saw the apple pie recipe and stole her Chayote to make the "Apple Pie" filling. I make mug cakes and put the "Apple Pie" filling in the cup when the mug cake is done. I even fooled my wife into thinking it was Apple Pie filling.
Okay, here's the story for you. son watches RUclips Before school everyday after he left, you came on and I began to watch her show I have binge watch 2 and I thank you are so awesome so true and just amazing I am 52 years old. I've just now started trying to live healthy lifestyle. I will let you know in about a month. How I feel clean, healthy, not just healthy. Thank you so much again, love Arkansas.
I made chayote apple crisp bake for Thanksgiving last year or year before, I can't remember but everyone even the sugar eaters loved it. It's all about the spice and the consistency of the chayote. So tasty.
I used to grow those and I was thinking of growing them again - and then this turned up - so I definitely am going to grow it again, now that I know how to use it as a substitute for apples.
Thank you so much!! I made this and OMG!! I could not believe how much it taste like real apples… I didn’t make the crust I use low-carb tortillas I made a McDonald’s apple pie air fried … dusted with Cinnamon and sweetener delicious !
I made this today, it really does make you feel like you are eating apple pie. The only thing, is the first time I put the crust in my microwave, I pressed 90 seconds, it burnt. The next time I did 30 seconds, then added 15 seconds and another 15 seconds. I know that microwave very, so you might want to do a few seconds at a time, to make sure it doesn't burn. My son, grandson and I loved this recipe. Thank you for sharing, you are awesome.
Love using Chayote for my recipes! I also used these in your “Chicken Pot pie” recipe, that came out SO DELICIOUS!!Thanks so much for sharing so many wonderful recipes choices Mayra!! 👍🏽❤️😄
This sounds great! I can’t wait to make it. I’ve never had chayote before so this will be interesting. Thanks for your posts, you one of the best for recipes. Much appreciation
I recently made your one minute microwave cinnamon roll with cream cheese frosting...it was devine! Having for my dessert on Thanksgiving, looks like i might have a variety of desserts, including this 'apple pie' 🥧. Thanx ❤
I have seen these advertised in my grocery store during the holidays. The grocery store is headquartered in New Orleans with stores along the Gulf Coast. They call them Mirliton's. I will buy them soon and try. Thank you
I practiced this dessert at a dinner tonight and got fairly good results. Adhering to your little nuances will help it that much better. Would apple extract help or hurt? I'm definitely going to be having this at our Thanksgiving dinner!
Pumpkin pie has no top crust nor does Dutch apple. I know Aussies like meat pies (pasties?) A crumble or crisp usually has no bottom crust as hers does.
Brilhant idea!!!! Here in Brasil, this vegetable is called “chuchu”! Im gonna try!!!!!! Thank you!!!!!! Love you!!! Linda! Maravilhosa! Esplendorosa!!!!♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I've done a few crisps with chayote and what was known as Lolli's Cookie Clusters. Yum!!! And cool thing is I can get chayote in my Walmart in ND! I'm curious about the almond flour. Everything I've ever done with almond flour comes out weirdly moist and blech. Do you have a recommendation for a brand or anything that might help it from being weirdly moist and grainy? I wish I had a better description, but sadly I do not. Thank you for an awesome recipe!!!
Omg girl you kill it with these recipes and they are so good! This Apple pie will go so well with rebel salted caramel ice cream I'm addicted to that 🤤
as a baker, i love this option and must give i a try. By the way, mind sharing details on the hoodie? I LOVE LOVE color, so hard to find that color for my complexion. Happy Baking!
Omg Maya! I was out of town & discovered a produce outlet that had the chayote!!! I made 2 of these & they r da bomb diggety!! Ty so much for this recipe & introducing me to a new fruit!! So yummy!! 🥰
Myra... this recipe is awesome! Quick question, my grandbaby hadn't been introduced to nuts yet, can I sub oat flour instead of the almond flour? Will that work in the microwave for the crust and crumble? If so, I will top it with some ice cream I make for her out of bananas. I think both she and Grammy(me) will just love this! 😊
Love ur dedication to all these low carb recipes. It would be helpful if u could reformat ur recipes so that it is printer friendly. The photo does not print out and there r a lot of xtra pages at the end that r not needed. Just needs to be condensed. Thanks and I look forward to making this!
Myra have you tried using pork rinds as a "graham cracker" crust? I've been wondering if that would work. I would think would be same texture as graham cracker.
Thank you for a delicious looking recipe. The ice cream sort of denies the low carb thing but I would use whipped cream made with organic heavy cream. I sweeten with stevia and then it is truly low carb.
Can you PLEASE do a pecan pie that size that way and do a video My son wants Pecan for Thanksgiving and this size(for Keto) is great I will make this one as well Thank you in advance and I will let you know when I make them and everyones reaction including mine❤
Myra please don’t ever leave! You’ve helped me lose 108 lbs!
Omg!!! Awesome 😊
Nice job!
Congratulations that’s amazing 🎉
@@rebeccarhoten8591 thank you!

I have used the chayote to make a keto “apple crisp” and it is delicious. I cooked mine in the oven. I found chayotes at Walmart.
Im telling you so delicious right 🤤
Sure happy you let me know where to get chayote conveintly. I have children that do most of my in store shopping for me and need to know where available.
Made this a couple nights ago. Was delicious! Was really surprised at how much it tasted like real apple pie! Thanks Myra!

I have two in my fridge… I’m tempted to try this. 😊
I love chayote! I use it for cinnamon "apples" and breakfast "potatoes". So good!

Just in time for Thanksgiving! While everybody else is having loads of sugar with the real apple pie, I'm going to have this recipe!
I can't wait.
I use zucchini to make my apple pie. With all the spices, it taste just like apple pie. 😊
Recipe pleasssse

THANK YOU ❤! My Dad is a diabetic we have has the worse rime keeping his glucose stable because he LOVES sweets this is really GOOOOD!
My wife is Filipina, so we use chayote in a few recipes and made an apple crumbly with them in the past.
I made chayote apple crisp bake for Thanksgiving last year or year before, I can't remember but everyone even the sugar eaters loved it. It's all about the spice and the consistency of the chayote. So tasty.

Chayote, love em!! It's great on soups too. I never knew you could make it taste like anything else other than what it tastes like. Thank you!
I love chayote as an apple substitute! 😋 I actually just finished off a jar of chayote "apple pie" filling I've been putting on egg white buns.
Thank you so much!! I made this and OMG!! I could not believe how much it taste like real apples… I didn’t make the crust I use low-carb tortillas I made a McDonald’s apple pie air fried … dusted with

I just made this tonight and no one could tell the difference it was so good.
Chayote. This looks easy to make. Thank you Mayra.
It really is 🙌🏼
Myra I absolutely love your 90 sec mug cakes, thank you for sharing your recipes xx
Omg looks incredible. I just ordered the squash so I can make this. Ty Myra! All of your recipes are out of this world good!!💖
In the Philippines it is called sayote (sigh oh tay) and it grows wild. In the stores costs about 2 cents each.
Love using Chayote for my recipes! I also used these in your “Chicken Pot pie” recipe, that came out SO DELICIOUS!!Thanks so much for sharing so many wonderful recipes choices Mayra!! 👍🏽❤️😄
I just bought some this week, can’t wait to try your recipe 😊

This looks so good! I’ve never used chayote but I want to now
You wont regret it! Its so gooood! 🙌🏼
This sounds great! I can’t wait to make it. I’ve never had chayote before so this will be interesting. Thanks for your posts, you one of the best for recipes. Much appreciation
Eggplant peeled works real good too!!!
I recently made your one minute microwave cinnamon roll with cream cheese frosting...it was devine! Having for my dessert on Thanksgiving, looks like i might have a variety of desserts, including this 'apple pie' 🥧. Thanx ❤
*A perfect solution for those spontaneous sweet cravings on a low-carb journey.*
After you showed me how to make that zero carb pizza crust I’ve been following u and u haven’t disappointed
I also use jicama in place of apples. Been doing this for years. Game changer.
I put those chayotes (patastillos en mi pais) in soups. They have a very neutral but rich flavor. I will make this pie en see what I think.
I have seen these advertised in my grocery store during the holidays. The grocery store is headquartered in New Orleans with stores along the Gulf Coast. They call them Mirliton's. I will buy them soon and try. Thank you
Myra, you continue to amaze me. This is a phenomenal applie crisp. Thank you soooooo much!!
I practiced this dessert at a dinner tonight and got fairly good results. Adhering to your little nuances will help it that much better. Would apple extract help or hurt?
I'm definitely going to be having this at our Thanksgiving dinner!
You’re awesome love ur recipes!
Oh of course thanks to you! I made your low carb chicken pot pie in the past and these are amazing! Can NOT wait to try the apple pie or crisp. ❤
In Indonesia, we call it labu siam. We cook it almost everyday. Thank you for the recipe. ❤❤❤
Omg, the best!
I couldn’t believe how delish it was! Thanks for sharing.
As an Aussie, a pie must be fully surrounded by pastry - - top, sides and bottom. Yours is more an apple crumble which is still divine 🥰🥰
Pumpkin pie has no top crust nor does Dutch apple. I know Aussies like meat pies (pasties?) A crumble or crisp usually has no bottom crust as hers does.
Thank you for this 5 min (“90 sec”) recipe I’m going to try!
My mom used to use Chayote for one of her Filipino dish that I never learned to make... Now I need to try this recipe...
Brilhant idea!!!! Here in Brasil, this vegetable is called “chuchu”! Im gonna try!!!!!! Thank you!!!!!! Love you!!! Linda! Maravilhosa! Esplendorosa!!!!♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I'm so happy to have found you! Thank you, Myra! I've benefited so much already. Keep up the content ..it's wonderful!❤❤❤
I have used zucchini to make mock apple pie.
Also couldn't tell it wasn't apples
Crazy how you cant tell 🙊

My husband bought 2 chayote and hasn't used them. Great, now I know what to do with them!
as a baker, i love this option and must give i a try. By the way, mind sharing details on the hoodie? I LOVE LOVE color, so hard to find that color for my complexion. Happy Baking!
We used to grow this in our yard. In Portuguese it’s called ppinelas not sure of the spelling. I like it steamed with a spoon of mayonnaise on it.
I will make this in two days. Thank you!
Hey Mayra...I think that word you were looking for that can be a pie topping is lattice. This looked great, thanks🙏🏼❤️
I love chayotes! Especially in my caldo
Omg Maya! I was out of town & discovered a produce outlet that had the chayote!!! I made 2 of these & they r da bomb diggety!! Ty so much for this recipe & introducing me to a new fruit!! So yummy!! 🥰
I will try ! I usually make a savory chayote for Thanksgiving and Christmas with shrimp and ham . Thanks
Oooo, we need those recipes!
I appreciate, when you flash the ingredients, on the screen. Thanks

WOW! Looks amazing! I'm going to try and make as a full size pie... so thinking I should use the recipe X5? Thoughts?
Thank you for this recipe! I made it and LOVE it!
I cannot wait to try it. Yummy ❤
Yes…..Dalling,cook with it often!❤❤❤
Myra... this recipe is awesome! Quick question, my grandbaby hadn't been introduced to nuts yet, can I sub oat flour instead of the almond flour? I use GF honey chex mix cereal all the time w/ butter for crust … it’s rice 😊
Down south we call them Mirlitons we make dressing or stuff them for the Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter!
I had never heard of chayote until a few months ago. I made a mini pie with it and it was soooo delish 😋
Love ur dedication to all these low carb recipes. It would be helpful if u could reformat ur recipes so that it is printer friendly. The photo does not print out and there r a lot of xtra pages at the end that r not needed. Just needs to be condensed. Thanks and I look forward to making this!
Thank you for letting me know!
I made apple crisp with chayote and it was delicious
Woohoo!!! Im so glad you enjoyed it!🥰
Looks good. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching 😄
What size ramekins do you use? I’m wanting to order them on Amazon!
Hey Lisa
Love watching your posts in Australia.
We call it a Choko. Sold in all our supermarkets.
Trying your recipe tonight.
In Australia we call them choko's. We grow them everywhere & use them to make pies, jams, in casseroles, stews etc
I made it! Delicious!
Myra have you tried using pork rinds as a "graham cracker" crust? I've been wondering if that would work. I would think would be same texture as graham cracker.
Bought chayote today to make this!!
Talk about perfect timing!
Thank you for a delicious looking recipe. The ice cream sort of denies the low carb thing but I would use whipped cream made with organic heavy cream. I sweeten with stevia and then it is truly low carb.
I’ve seen low carb ice cream and avacado ice cream in the store … 🤷🏻♀️ just saying u really want to stay low carb.
Thanks Mayra.
Chayote! Mom used it in caldos growing up
Oh, I have to make this for the Thanksgiving holiday! Please tell us what ice cream you used. Thanks
Mmmmmmm lookz good really good 👍🏽 thank u. 😊
It was & you are welcome 😁
Thanks for this. You think you could come up with an almond flour recipe for Butter Swim biscuits?
Can you PLEASE do a pecan pie that size that way and do a video My son wants Pecan for Thanksgiving and this size(for Keto) is great I will make this one as well Thank you in advance and I will let you know when I make them and everyones reaction including mine❤
Chayotes for the caldo! I've tried to grow them several times with no luck.
Yes! Chayote ❤
Right on time for the holidays!
Never heard this called a chayote before. We call them mirlitons in Louisiana. But definitely going to try this!!
I have 3 chayote at home just waiting for me to make my pie or compote. 😊 Found mine at Meijer.
Nice!!
We call it perulero! I'm from Guatemala :)
That chiote idea is good. I think I will try it.
You should!
Hola Myra 👋👋 I don't have a microwave, by choice. Can I make the crust and crumble in an Air fryer or an oven?
Myra you can also do a crisp instead.
Delicious 😋
Thank you 😋
I love chayote so definitely making this dessert!! ❤
I can't wait to try this! I'm also going to try one with sweet potato. Looks so good!
Hope you like it!
I would have added chopped pecans in that topping too. That would have made it with some crunch. Not to mention taste to die for.
Great! I’m going to try it!
Please do! You will love it!
