Hi Mayra~Yes, I have eaten a chayote before & loved it so much that I researched their growing requirements. I found out that I may grow them here in Central Florida. SOOO... I quickly planted one in a large pot & placed that in the garden bed near my back door. The next day, my darling Husky is happily chewing something while out for her morning constitutional & I panicked thinking she's eating something dangerous. I run over to find she's crunching on my now uprooted chayote! Well, I let her finish it (except the pit) while scolding her for "stealing" from my garden. I'm trying again but putting the pot on a table! It's always something!😝
BTW, I love your videos & recipes. Thanks for giving us JOY & INSPIRATION to continue a low-carb lifestyle.

They're very easy to grow. In my country, we call them 'centinaria' because it gives you 'hundreds' of fruit. Not really, but they are very prolific if the weather conditions are favourable.

Just made this and boy is it delicious! Super easy to make and really quick prep. The texture of the choyote is really close to what apple pie filling and a very subtle taste of the melon comes through. The crust/crumble really brings it full circle to taste really close to normal apple pie. Would rate this recipe 10/10!

I made this today, it really does make you feel like you are eating apple pie. The only thing, is the first time I put the crust in my microwave, I pressed 90 seconds, it burnt. The next time I did 30 seconds, then added 15 seconds and another 15 seconds. I know that microwave very, so you might want to do a few seconds at a time, to make sure it doesn't burn. My son, grandson and I loved this recipe. Thank you for sharing, you are awesome.

I've done a few crisps with chayote and what was known as Lolli's Cookie Clusters. Yum!!! And cool thing is I can get chayote in my Walmart in ND! I'm curious about the almond flour. Everything I've ever done with almond flour comes out weirdly moist and blech. Do you have a recommendation for a brand or anything that might help it from being weirdly moist and grainy? I wish I had a better description, but sadly I do not. Thank you for an awesome recipe!!!
