    Those perch think pretty highly of themselves! A few of them weren't much larger than that blue crankbait. Thanks for the footage!

    In Oregon guide page 81: Perch may be taken by angling, hand, bow and arrow, spear, gaff hook, snag hook, and herring jigs.

    Our personal values are reflected in everything we do, I believe it's how we generate good karma. Your values look good to me, Bro..
    I found a secluded beach here in NorCal, Blues Beach. I clipped on a Calissa Glow white, and on my first cast I caught and landed my first surf stripper.. from under the foam. 30" 12.7 lbs. Surprisingly powerful fish, and my Okuma 9'9 M Guide Select Pro/BG3000, worked awesome! Thanks to H2C for the inspiration...

    To address the question about snagged fish, this is from the CA DFW Ocean Sport Fishing Regulations, General Provisions and definitions.
    "1.05. ANGLING. Angling means take of fish by hook and line with the line held in the hand, or with the line attached to a pole or rod held in the hand or closely attended in such manner that the fish voluntarily takes the bait or artificial lure inside its mouth."
    It's always been my understanding (could definitely be wrong) that a snagged fish is not legal to keep.

    If I foul hook, I toss them back. I didn't deserve to keep it. That's just me.

    Are you letting your reel dunk underwater when you hold it to remove the fish? I can't tell but it looks like you are. Does that cause maintenance issues or is the reel designed for it?

    • @Hook2Cook
      @Hook2Cook  10 месяцев назад

      Yes this is a van staal designed to be sealed from water getting inside and can function under water. Most reels wouldn’t stand this abuse

      @@Hook2Cook Thanks! I was wondering because when I accidentally submerged mine the anti-reverse bearing stopped working and I had to disassemble, degrease, clean, re-grease, and reassemble. Not something I want to do every time I go fishing!

    Snagging fish is ONLY illegal if done intentionally. You will NEVER snag a fish with a lure unless that fish made an attempt to eat or injure your lure and that is legal to keep if caught, no matter where the landing hook is located. Foul hooked or snagged fish are legal in tournaments as well as long as its not done sight fishing or in any manner intentionally. How could you ever determine if that fish wasn’t hooked in the mouth with a front hook and back hook got his side, then the front hook came out only leaving the hook in fishes side…. You couldn’t and thats just a good lure doing its job to keep that fish pinned!

  • @paulkaplan1147
    @paulkaplan1147 Год назад

    Intentionally snagging fish is illegal but you're not using snagging gear. Like you said, who knows what happens when the fish rolls in the surf. I don't like snagging or keeping snagged fish but if the hooks rip a big hole in it I would think the chance of the fish surviving is pretty low.

    What are the fish all the fish was actually going after allure and you got through treble hooks on there so one of them is gonna catch it, so yeah it’s illegal. I don’t see. Why shouldn’t be.
