    Loved it Ed! The drone footage was beautiful. Those Slo-Mo release shots of the fish hitting the water and splashing around. Those were some toads man. Of course, I'm biased toward that bait so this video was just a lot of fun for me to watch! THANK YOU THANK YOU! I want to hit that steep beach with you soon :)

    Have you ever tried to add weight to a calissa lure to get more distance? I am wondering if Drop Shot Weights Lead Skinny Sinkers would work attached to the front of the first treble. It could help with casting and allow the lure to dive deeper. Could you use a carolina rig with a 4 or 5 foot leader? I do have to tell you.....I grew up surf fishing, recently I have been upgrading my surf equipment. I totally use your recommendations.....so far you have been spot on. Thank you

    • @Hook2Cook
      @Hook2Cook  Год назад +1

      Trial and error brother. Adding weight can throw off the action too much. The weight transfer system works fine as long as your rod reel and line are up to spec. No weight needed. A Carolina rig would be challenging to cast and not tangle.

    When I was a teenager I use to go to Alaska to visit my grandma. He would take me halibut fishing talk about fun watching 1/2 in pole will rollers bend in half almost 3-5 pound sinker 300pound test line 350+ depth and 21/2 hours almost to reel it up was no joke at 13 years old the fun part is if it was 80+ pound I got to shoot the fish with a shot 410gun. It wasn't easy though because the boats moving I almost hit the side of the boat the first time I did it after that I'm not going to lie I was a little scary for me because it's a long ways out and the water is freezing cold would not want to even touch it but if you don't shot it the fish can kill you or hurt you bad. My grandma took a hook out one time and forgot his gloves and got cut up perty bad all I remember is put a rope threw the mouth tied off and halling butt back he was bleeding perty good when the trackter took us out they noticed we were dragging 140+ pound halibut and then noticed my grandma hand a under stud we were in a rush and help us out a lot when we got back we had some fresh halibut on the beach 👍👌✌️🐟🦀🦐

    We’re you using a leader or straight, do they still bite with straight braid?

    • @Hook2Cook
      @Hook2Cook  Год назад

      I was using a leader. I’m sure they’ll hit straight braid but the big downfall is it’s easier to foul up because the braid is so limp and you have treble hooks. With leader material you can usually just shake it to unfoul
