    *Important advices by Adam*
    1) First, use context to keep in mind
    2) skip a very high-end word (If you see it again or the third time, then yes, look it up so you have it in your vocabulary base.)
    3) If you need to know this word to be able to make sense
out of the whole paragraph, then of course, look it up.
    4) search engine - Just type: "Use 'mitigate'"-or whatever word-"in a sentence."
    5) If you really want to improve your language quickly, you have to build vocabulary. If you want to build vocabulary, you have to read.
    And conclusion:
18:52 Be patient, be motivated, be hard working, and I guarantee you your English will improve very quickly and you'll be able
to speak about anything, read anything, write about anything because you will have the vocabulary for it.

There is no denying that different words and phrases are used in various meanings, but sometimes it is hard to understand complicated words unified together in phrases and you have to think a lot about meaning of this words, especially when you are not native.

I instinctively started using this technique when I began reading books written in English. My knowledge of the language was at best mediocre. Today, hundreds of books later I have improved A LOT. There is a problem with this method though: even though I can even read legal or other scientific documents in English without any problem at all, if you ask me to translate what I just read to Greek I cannot do it as easily. Why? Because I can understand exactly how the words are used, but I have not assigned a Greek meaning to them, so it's hard for me to translate a text quickly, because I know that the translation I am doing does not match exactly the original text.

Thank you so much.... I'm practicing English alone, but with your hints I believe my efforts have been more productive. I'm using flashcard as you suggested at another video and I'm reading more. In fact I bought a book and an audiobook ( same text) and listening at the same time I'm reading. In the beginning was hard, but after 2 chapters I feel comfortable. That strategy give a pace to my reading and give me straight to keep going far and far .... and I want more.... thank you again!!

Hello Adam. I like your idea of learning english in very quick way. I think it refers to how mom and dad teach their child to speak. Initially child learn 1 word then 2 words and when he or she become 10 yeard old boy or girl we could be sure that this child knows about 20000-50000 words. For me it is amazing. And when I watch your high quality and fully essential videos I think you bring about changes in my mind.

In my opinion, using a tablet(>=8 inch) with paid dictionary or an ad free one will be better than physical dictionary.
    Pros of digital dictionary
    1) faster lookup
    2) you can track lookup history
    3) mobility
    4) light weight
    5) new words are up-to-date

Hi Mustafa. I don't know what is your exactly level of English. However, I recommend you make a choice of book with a story that you enjoy. So, while you read it, you'll find new words and you should look up in the dictionary. If you like fiction, for example, I recommend you "Jane Eyre - Charlotte Brontë". It's a good story. The level of that book is literature for intermediate to advanced level students.

my level is between beginner and intermediate. I'll look for your suggestion too and I'll read it. I find the stories more interesting than just searching random word to learn. In addition to learning you can enjoy the story and get information about different subjects😊.

Does Meriam have a CD on it? I used to have an oxford English-English dictionary, I never used the book itself, but its CD. It stays on top while reading, and by the help of cursor finds the word on the dictionary and saves a lot of time and makes the reading faster of course. Because I am in the USA, I do not want to use it anymore. I would love to have the same type of dictionary but American English.
