Great video, Adam! I’d like to add 5 more that can be very helpful for all language learners:
    1. Write down new words: It's a really good idea to write down useful new vocabulary.
    2. Read in English: Reading graded books, articles, or short stories in English helps you see how words are used in sentences.
    3. Watch videos: Watching videos in English can help you hear how words are pronounced and used in everyday conversation.
    4. Learn from Context: When you come across a new word, make sure to look up its meaning and try to use it in a sentence.
    5. Use It or Lose It!
Practice using new words in your speaking and writing. The more you use a word, the more likely you are to remember it.
"Remember, practice, practice, practice makes masters."

Among what you've recommended in this video are these four tips that I find most useful and works for many including myself.
    1. Read and listen to as much as you can; There's no need for further explanation to this all-time top priority. You can search and use so many materials on the Internet that comes in handy without having to paying even one single penny for them just like this channel. Yet in order not to be lost in an avalanche of information, I suggest sticking with only one material at a time until you get a full understanding of it instead of searching ridiculously for more and more. Trust me on that. Biting off more than you can chew most likely ends up being another form of procrastination.
    2. Use an English-English dictionary; This will increasingly help stop you from translating English into your mother tongue whenever you bump into those 'recognizable yet not clear' words, one major contributor to slowing down your comprehension and thought process while reading. Make sure to get into a habit of looking up new words in an English-English dictionary, otherwise you will never be able to catch a wealth of subtleties each word carries. And the next time you meet those words in context, try to reconstruct their meaning in your own way based on what you can remember from the English definitions.
    3. Learn as many synonyms as you can; This has very much to do with the previous one in that they all facilitate the process of retrieving the meaning and usage of words in a much faster way. When I happen to see newly learnt words or phrases while reading(which is a real bonus), I automatically think of other words that can be used interchangeably or make up my own expressions on the spot in order to make them more firmly ingrained in my memory. In this way, I've seen a certain degree of improvement in my writing skills as well.
    4. Write at least 150 words every day without the help of a dictionary; Even when you've taken all three steps previously mentioned, chances are that you still find yourself not knowing how to properly use those new words in your own writing. Learning a language is indeed a painful experience since the moment you think you completely made sense of it, it turns its back on you right away. But don't panic! It's no more than a sign that you haven't got the most out of those words yet. While making it a point to include those 'getting on your nerves' words in your writing, make as many mistakes as possible and be a little more forgiving to yourself. Of course, it won't happen overnight but have a belief in yourself that you can pull it off at the end of the day!

One great way i improve my vocab is by using synonyms. I get tired of saying simple words such as "Tired" used in the context such as "I'm tired". I'd switch it up by saying words such as "exhausted, faituged, beat, exasperated etc. It gives you a unique look, plus it makes you not sound like everyone else. It has become a huge habit of mine. Hopefully this helps. Great video by the way, those are some awesome tactics.

Thank you so much! Your vocabulary video is helping me. I have a better idea on how to study my new words. I have been simply writing new words down. Your way goes deeper into each word to really memorize the words. I have a memory problem. I forget new words almost instantly! So, thanks again, Adam!

Thanks for an excellent video! I'm pretty fluent in English, meaning I can watch movies without subtitles etc and communicate in speech and by writing, think in English sometimes hehe, but I can still add some words to my vocabulary and this video is inspiring, I've already started projects. I love learning new words in English! I never thought of the roots, I know the meaning behind many of the words but never knew that the common ending actually meant something separate. I found something online that explains that in more detail, fascinating, really I love it hehe.

Great Adam! Leaning vocabulary is very important in english language ,but avoid learning too many vocabularies at the same time and the best way to memorize vocabularies is ''practice''. As to me, I speak three languages '' French,Haitian Creole then American English'' and I'm learning ''Spanish/ German'' I see language generally require communication. Sometimes instead of studying vocabularies alot, converse with friends in the language you're learning and say to your friends to explain you every vocabulary that they've just said then you won't forget them, believe me. To conclude, don't study vocabularies without using them,I consider studying vocabularies is like''washing your hands and ripe them on the ground''. Good luck

    • @xenebidule9422
      @xenebidule9422 2 года назад +1

@@shoxpubgm7373 Six months seem to be a really narrow and short time to get a C1 level (I guess you mean C1 by « fluently »). As part of my full English teaching studies I reached a fluent English by being confronted to words I had never heard in my whole learning English time. I was completely lost when I started learning, whether in group workshops or in self-reliance, I had to get a hard-working mind, to extend my vocabulary beyond my own boundaries. It was hard, it took a lot of time, but it has strengthened my language, my capabilities, so that nowadays I am at ease with the language, and I ensure you it was not ensured 😂😂

Dude you are awesome! And your videos as well. I've been studying english for 3 years (well maybe not studying that hard, but once in a while I try to), and all your videos are helping me to accomplish my goal. I just have one question: can you recommend me a good physical dictionary? There are a lot of them out there, so I'm not pretty sure which one to pick. Also I already have one dictionary on my smartphone, but I feel like I learn better when using the paper one! Thanks for your videos, you have a very clear accent and pronunciation which helps people like me (not native speakers) to understand better the english.
