What a long history and a diverse body of work Todd gave, and continues to give, us.
Couldn't have rekindled that old fire any better gentleman. Superb. Rest in peace moogy.
New York City in my head- Utopia!!!! An incredible performance.
love the ikon...would have love to have heard the ''you don't have to be afraid passage"...but hey this was over 35 years ago...good to see kasim sulton still hanging with todd...
Still wonder to this day why this tour has not been released as an official cd/dvd..... Simply fantastic!!, ...and it would also be an amazing tribute to Moogy (imho) still adore my original vinyl copy from 1974 a treasure for life!!
Only Todd Rundgren song I know is "Hello It's Me". I am 67 and I was and still am into rock. Based on my one song opinion I would never have gone to a Todd Rundgren concert. I was listeng to a Jethro Tull video and decided to try a progressive rock play list. I heard "The Ikon" and had to hear more of Utopia so hear I am. A new fan.
Incredible show of musicianship, this music is timeless and carries a punch .Pinnacle of TODDS career in my sphere.
Todd hasn't played these songs in 35+ years, I wonder how much practice and work it took to go back and re-learn the material? Goes to show what a fantastic guitar player he really is, but I bet it didn't take him more than 3-5 hours. I've been playing guitar for 50 years and it would take me days to learn "The Ikon" alone!
One of the greatest Heavy Prog Rock tracks of all time!
this music just boggles the mind wonderful awe insping
Freedom Fighters sounds as urgent as ever. Absolutely incredible.
I remember dropping a pink pyramid to this album! Been a TR fan ever since. That must've been what 1975 what a year that was coupled with "Wish you were here" coming out. Boy they were great years man.....
I was 16 when this record came out. I was fully immersed in it at the time. This video, despite the visual challenges, is wonderful. What an amazing record.
Fantastic! Almost like the original - note by note! Masterpiece and my first introduction to these geniuses..
this is the genius of tood his guitar work is just sublime but the whole band is just pretty in perfection amazing
What a treat! Best drummer Utopia has had, I have just started trying to track where he has been over the years? Thanks Todd and all the other band members for making this reunion happen, the original album was certainly a masterpiece!
John (Willie) was no slouch either. Kevin and John BOTH rocked.
Todd thanks so much for your music.
THE most underrated prog classic of all time. This album explored all areas of prog, jazz, fusion, funk and space music. #26 on my list of all time prog favorites. Thank you Todd for all of the great music through the years!

I frikken LOVE Utopia. They are my second favorite band ever. The Beatles are my most favorite
theme from U is by far my favorite song, and his guitar playing is at that time when he composed such a powerful anthem imo, and still stands today as an amazing pice of music, I love it
A most favorite band of mine!!! Glad to see and hear them performing this early stuff! Thanks for posting!!
All of you: listen to Todd with the Metropole orchestra live in Amsterdam (Paradiso )
I was one lucky guy who had a ticket and saw this...enjoy
awesome
Awesome. Saw the original line up. 2 drummers, 3 keyboards, Ralph & Todd @ Carnegie Hall around 73/74. My 1st Todd concert of 50+ more.
Joe Padovano I saw sale lineup around 72. Incredible. They still sound great.
Wow holy s*** some of the best stuff I've seen and heard in a long time Gilroy some Todd Rundgren
Nice to see - didn't know about it taking place until recently. These guys were the best musicians Todd ever played with.
Moogy on the right, Rlph Shuckett on left. Saw this lineup in Feb-March of 74 in Roanoke, VA.
I do not mean to be pedantic here and my apologies but one should always use stage right/stage left in such cases to avoid confusion.
Probably my FAVORITE Utopia LP.....I saw this performed LIVE in it's entirety in 1974? in quad.....at any rate....the THEME on this recording is STELLAR..... great big thanks
You will find Utopia Theme live in 1974 on RUclips in two parts.
I have the vinyl and cd...but Thank you very much for you courtesy.
Thanks for the memories
So glad we got tickets to one night of the 2 . The Highline was named right that night!
Ha, @7:20 I hear my bird whistle. S apologies to the soundboard, lol
Todd is a genius
This is awesome
Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! I got the vinyil album. Bought it as it came out!
John Seigler off the charts!
I couldn’t believe they would ever play anything from the first album. And yet, they did.
absolutely the Best!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Utopia xoxo
Gave away my legendary LP collection about 8 years ago. Tired of moving hundreds of them around, including 1974. Dumbest thing I've ever seen done in my life. This was one of my favorite LPs. So original.
I still have my LP copy!!
Met Runt, Sulton, Wilcox, and Powell outside the backstage door of the Fox Theater in St. Louis, MO when they were touring the Oops! Wrong Planet album. More than just a bunch people shouting at them as they loaded into their limo, it was more a meet & greet because they spent a good 20~25 minutes talking to people. I found myself engaged in a 3 way conversation with Todd & Sulton after I'd informed Runt that I was a new fan, impressed him with my knowledge of the band even though I was a newbie, and he'd called Sulton over into the conversation we were having. Kasim spoke a little, but not a whole lot. He was too distracted by the female fans lifting their shirts and showing their tits. lol. Not Todd though. We were eye to eye until the limo driver told Todd they had to go so they could catch their flight at St. Louis International. A memory of a lifetime.
bighead ...comes to mind , you little show off you
Sure. Yeh, sure you did. I met him too. Just yesterday and we had dinner and talked about the good old days. IT was great.
Wow that was so cool ! I had the chance to give Todd a copy of the Living Bible , that was a easy read paraphrase popular in the late 70's . Giftwrapped , I just gave it to him and he was as nice as could be . I was surprised as all the fans as he walked down the line toward the front door at the Old Waldorf club , San Francisco . A class act , he truly was .
Moogy Klingman was/is an awesome musician. Very underrated
I guess that made Todd happy after all he was Todd a few years ahead before I was Todd. When I saw him in 2015 I was pretty happy with the show I yelled out a request and he played it...Zen Archer.
my god my love of this is returned and amazing so must get out the vinyl
They came out the woodwork to express there love,,, God know's this is is all we all need to feel and truly what we all need? Correct me if I am wrong.
You are not wrong. God bless!
Thank you!
Moogy went out with a bang! What a talent he was, may he RIP.
AMEN! God bless Moogy!
Yes. It's too bad what happened to him. Sucks really. He sure looked healthy here...
L ♥ V E *_* R.I.P. Moogy! ♥ Kevin Ellman Rocks on those drums!!!! Thanks bunches!
awsome
Fun! Moogy lives!
I was there the first night ...
Kevin - dude - time for some stomach crunches, man!
Before preparing for these concerts, I wonder how long it had been since they played this music? John and Kevin are really locked in.
Wow, WOw, WOW, WOWIE- FUCKIN" WOWIE!!!
Saw this band when they came thru Boston (Wilbur Theater)....city in my head....blows me away every time.
Sinänsä aivan loistava, mut kun 1974 sama alkuperäinen on tehty pienemmällä porukalla ja on silti parempi. Kuunnelkaapa originaali versio albumin ykköspuolesta - blow your mind up, niin ku jotkut sanovat!
Awww man, they left out all the best parts of The Ikon!
Dust in the wind Moogy.
MOOGY!
nice
I guess all that made Todd happy.
Is M Frog there?
I understand he's become a monk and only works on pipe organs now. Siegler programmed the sequencer parts for Utopia Theme on a little Macbook so they could play that song. The other tunes the other keyboardists managed to make do.
This is the first I heard that this concert had actually happened. Were there any other dates and is there going to be an official video release of it?
They played Atlanta 11-09-11 and the full show is on youtube in two parts. They did most of the Another Live album as well - they had more rehearsal time for this show.
I WOULD HAVE PAID 150 BUCKS TO SEE THIS....THIS IS FUCKING AWESOME...THESE FUCKING POP GROUPS CHARGING TO HEAR THE SAME OLE SHIT....THIS IS PROGRESSIVE MUSIC....AND WOWWW...WTF THEY ARE DOING THE IKON....MAN OH MAN...I WOULD HAVE PAID TO SEE THIS....fuck alot of this new music bullshit....this is progressive...thanks todd
Deze Band, Utopia : door Edgar van der keu, uit Voorburg, leren Kennen !
What is the line-up for this concert?
Scott Peterson on drums? 6:08 Where does he find the time?
What is M Frog doing these days?
Is this KEVIN ELMAN & JOHN SIEGLER?
