(I know you saw them before, but since this is the first one that stayed up, here's some background). Congratulations, you found the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they searched for a new bassist. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 (see below) and dropped their first new song on December 22. Their new album, “Judgement Day”, was released two months later. Some background: They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and founder of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the great European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other groups. The four of them then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she was also trained in ballet). Miyako has composed a little more than half of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics and is also getting involved in composing. In mid-2021, Miho left the band she had founded, for personal reasons. They went on hiatus while they searched for a new bassist, and during that time, two of them had babies, even as the band were writing and rehearsing their new album. They recently announced the new bassist, Fami, who is a young phenom and herself a composer and multi-instrumentalist. Their first song with Fami is “Judgement Day” ruclips.net/video/m3uGjp-P7DI/видео.html The instrumentalists studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance was that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like crazy). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band." Here are more clips you should check out: “Set the World on Fire” ruclips.net/video/99zsH6iG_6c/видео.html from their 2021 concert DVD “Heavy Metal Never Dies”. “Don’t Bite the Dust” ruclips.net/video/oHnKGEj1CMc/видео.html, from the same concert; "Edge of the World" and "We the United", back to back: ruclips.net/video/sl0-U-ykJCU/видео.html They form an incredible journey from darkness and despair to light and hope. Also, “Empty Daydream”, which starts as a ballad and becomes a real rocker: ruclips.net/video/lXh_uMM94jU/видео.html; Perhaps their greatest masterpiece, a showcase of multi-instrumental virtuosity and even classical dance “A Frozen Serenade” ruclips.net/video/Ae8pQVu-RN8/видео.html; And their most reacted-to video, “Holy War”: ruclips.net/video/bgAxpEpEcno/видео.html Miyako is also a virtuoso concert pianist, and was headed for a career in classical music, before picking up the guitar. If you want to see what she can do on the piano, watch “Swan Song” WITH the prelude, which is Chopin’s “Revolutionary Etude” (official name Étude Opus 10, No. 12 in C minor). Miyako wrote “Swan Song” using elements from several classical pieces including the Etude. This link should work: ruclips.net/video/WBhtqgiXEA4/видео.html. For a thrasher with heavy Slayer and Metallica vibes, “Break the Wall” ruclips.net/video/5Pc0XK0lNmU/видео.html includes two gorgeous and completely contrasting solos by M&M. For a heart-stopping ballad, “Epilogue” ruclips.net/video/1ynnXDfEnnY/видео.html (this includes a second song, your choice whether or not to react to both) While you will sometimes hear you should only react to live clips, actually their MV’s are epic and worth seeing. Here are four of the most spectacular: "Shadowmaker" ruclips.net/video/Brmoln5Gxus/видео.html This is the song that blew up and melted faces all over the world "When Destinies Align" ruclips.net/video/hLFelI93VkM/видео.html "Glory to the World" ruclips.net/video/-wJtD2XEXH4/видео.html "Winds of Transylvania" ruclips.net/video/HsE4Ub_Pjh8/видео.html. Finally, the audio tracks of some of the new album are up on youtube, and worth checking out. The band clearly came out swinging and wanted to make a statement. Every song on the album is a showcase of their incredible talent and songwriting capabilities. “Stand and Deliver” is a thrasher with a fun video of them in the studio. “Soldier Stands Solitarily”, the final song on the album, is being touted by some as the best thing they’ve done so far-I encourage you to see and decide for yourself! You'll get lots of suggestions, just one thing: don't bother with Bloodstock footage, the sound quality is poor. Best to take suggestions with actual links. Also, you can’t go wrong with any of their official clips. Welcome to the Wolf-Pack!
Everything is on a par with this. After an enforced break of almost two years, they returned with their 4th studio album in February. 10 metal masterpieces, no ballad, speed, power, thrash and more. They have redesigned metal and there’s nobody else even within touching distance of doing what they do.
Japan has a thriving band scene, with more than a hundred all-female bands, and LOVEBITES is one of the top groups. They are characterized by their high performance skills, exceptional musical sensitivity, and lyrics that are often positive in nature. They had been inactive since the fall of 2021, when leader Miho (bass) left the band and the members got married and had children. They then resumed their activities as the new LOVEBITES and released their full album "Judgment Day" in February. Some fans were anxious about the new member, FAMI, and the title "Judgment Day" was chosen with the intention of having the newly reborn LOVEBITES judged by this album.
I like that the first two singles off the new album both start with riffs from the new bassist Fami. Even though she was brought in after much if not all of the album was written, she still is given a chance to be introduced to the fans right off the bat.
Hanabie calls themselves harajukucore mainly to promote the youth culture of the Harajuku district. From a strictly musical standpoint, they are simply metalcore, or perhaps progressive metalcore. Now Nemophila, although some of their music definitely fits the metalcore tag, they play so many different styles and genres that it is hard to classify them as any particular subgenre, they're simply metal!
Lovebites is not a symphonic metal band and Asami is not an operatic vocalist, don't confuse Lovebites with nightwish and epica that's the symphonic and operatic crap
They definitely have influences there, I'm more talking about how it trends in that direction than most metal these days rather than it being straight symphonic and operatic. Just a comment on the presentation and theatrical nature, with their image (at least in this video) being more gothic and elegant than most modern metal.
Reaction starts at 1:54 if you want to skip the rambling.

Some background:
They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and founder of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the great European bands of the golden age of metal. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics and is also getting involved in composing.
In mid-2021, Miho left the band she had founded, for personal reasons.
That's quite the comprehensive comment, I really appreciate all the info and welcome to the channel!
@@Memento_Mori hope you do more, enjoy the ride!
Everything is on a par with this. After an enforced break of almost two years, they returned with their 4th studio album in February. 10 metal masterpieces, no ballad, speed, power, thrash and more. They have redesigned metal and there’s nobody else even within touching distance of doing what they do.
It's so refreshing to hear a few genres like speed metal, gothic metal, and symphonic blended so well.
I wanted a ballad. But I do really like "the Lion song"! 🤘🏼🦁🤘🏼

Lovebites are FREAKING awesome.
I think they definitely picked right back up where they left off.
I like that the first two singles off the new album both start with riffs from the new bassist Fami. Even though she was brought in after much if not all of the album was written, she still is given a chance to be introduced to the fans right off the bat.
Leading songs off with bass is one of my favorite things I don't hear often. My favorite example is Move on Through by Seventh Wonder.
And there it is 2:29 the "brain can't comprehend but loves the metal" face. I think I get it on every song every time I listen to them.
I have a feeling I'm going to be making that face a lot with them.
Agree
Yeah, I would honestly love just dropping genre subclasses and just enjoy things for what they are. If it's good it's good!
I call them: Harajukukawaiicore! ( Because Yukina and Hettz are so cute! ) And now... they have no drummer. 😭
You don't talk about the B-bands.
@@bonered9210 I'll be seeing two of the B-bands this year! Band-Maid next month, and Babymetal in September!
Every Lovebites song is good.
I fully expect that to be the case. Thanks for watching!
Shush Salt.
