Believe me, these women are beyond belief. Their live performances are jaw-dropping. Those twin lead guitar solos by Midori and Miyako are already legendary, in just six years. Asami was a R&B, soul, jazz singer before she joined the band. Miyako is a concert level pianist who also happens to be a guitar shredder. With the new bassist, Fami, they’re ready to set the world on fire. Beware, all-female rock bands from Asia (especially from Japan) are taking the world by storm.

Midori and Miyako are among the greatest heavy metal guitar duos of all time. I would put them up their next to anybody.
They do a great job on this song!
Congratulations, you just found the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they searched for a new bassist. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 (see below) and dropped their first new song, “Judgement Day” on December 22. Some background:
They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and founder of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the great European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other groups. The four of them then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she was also trained in ballet).
Miyako has composed a little more than half of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics and is also getting involved in composing.
In mid-2021, Miho left the band she had founded, for personal reasons. They recently announced their new bassist, Fami, who is a young phenom and herself a composer and multi-instrumentalist. Their first song with Fami is “Judgement Day” ruclips.net/video/m3uGjp-P7DI/видео.html
The instrumentalists studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance was that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining.
They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like crazy). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band."

Miyako is also a virtuoso concert pianist, and was headed for a career in classical music, before picking up the guitar. If you want to see what she can do on the piano, watch “Swan Song” WITH the prelude, which is Chopin’s “Revolutionary Etude” (official name Étude Opus 10, No. 12 in C minor). The winners of the GOLDEN GODS Award in different years and in various categories were such famous bands and musicians,such as : Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Motörhead, Twisted Sister, Ozzy Osbourne, Lemmy Kilmister, Zakk Wylde, Nikki Sixx, Joe Perry, Judas Priest, Anthrax, Slayer, Saxon, Nightwish, Rammstein, Sabaton, Children of Bodom, Arch Enemy (and this is not a complete list).
LOVEBITES is a Japanese all-female heavy metal band, formed in 2016 by former Japanese heavy metal band DESTROSE members Miho( bass,backing vocals) and Haruna(drums). The band has successfully performed at various major international rock-festivals many times .In the spring of 2018, LOVEBITES performed on the Japanese leg of the Warped Tour. In August 2018, they performed at Wacken Open Air (Germany), becoming the first Japanese all-female rock band to perform at the festival. Also in August 2018 they performed on the main stage of Bloodstock Open Air (UK). In 2019, LOVEBITES performed at the Download Festival in Donington (UK) and Download Festival in Madrid (Spain). Unfortunately, the Covid pandemic that began in 2020 prevents LOVEBITES from performing at festivals and forced a drastic reduction of concerts.
LOVEBITES is a phenomenal band, all the ladies are talented musicians! Over 5 years (2017-2021) they have recorded about 50 original songs and all the songs are very good ! In February 2023, the 4th studio album "Judgement Day" will be released ( + 10 new songs).

🐺Midori (blond hair) has been playing the piano since she was two years old and the electric organ since she was eight. She started studying guitar at the age of 20. Super guitarist, "Crazy Shredder". She surpasses many male guitarists in speed and technique of playing the guitar.
Graduated from ESP / MI JAPAN ( Osaka ) , GIT-DX department (superfast guitar department). ESP / MI JAPAN is an International Music Institute , headquartered in Hollywood, California, USA.
🐺Miyako (black hair) has been playing the piano since the age of three, received a classical education (piano) and wanted to pursue a career as a pianist. She has been playing the guitar since the age of 18. Super guitarist! They call her "The Golden Touch" and she is a real musical genius. Miyako is the main composer of the band, she wrote 50% of the music.
* In terms of teamwork , synchronization / harmonization of guitars , Midori and Miyako today are perhaps the best pair of guitarists in the world playing metal. One music critic said that two guitarists of this level (Midori and Miyako) in the same band is a crime!😊
🐺Asami started with R&B and soul music . She studied classical ballet for about 16 years (this is noticeable in her movements on stage, especially the movements of her hands). Started ballet lessons at the age of two. After leaving school, Asami lived for some time in the US, where she came to study jazz and hip hop dance. Plays the piano. Asami wrote most of the lyrics of the band's songs.

On 18 June 2018, LOVEBITES won 'BEST NEW BAND' at the Metal Hummer Golden Gods 2018 awards organised by the British metal magazine METAL HUMMER.
You can see how Asami (Vo), formerly an R&B and Soul singer, has transformed herself in a Japanese heavy metal queen band.
Trained in classical ballet from the age of two, she was inspired to become a singer after singing the national anthem at a minor league baseball stadium in the USA.

On 2 December 2019, LOVEBITES was the support act for the Tokyo leg of Halestorm's Japan tour.
On 17 August 2021, LOVEBITES took an extended break after the departure of their leader, bassist Miho.
The remaining girls organised an audition for a new bassist from around the world and recruited a new bassist called Fami(Ba).

Iron Maiden feel to it.. You don't know how close to the truth you are! When the original bassist, Miho (she left the band), put this band together with the drummer, Haruna, the concept of it was to be heavily 80s power metal and thrash metal influenced. For a lot of their songs, you can catch the influences: Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Helloween (Haruna's favorite band), Pantera (Miyako's favorite band), Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, Testament, etc.. the list goes on. This song has a lot of Iron Maiden vibes to it, mixed with Yngwie Malmsteen, so you can see them branching out even more.
You will absolutely love this band as it will remind you of what we all grew up on, and how they put those bands on notice. Case in point: Metallica's Lux Aeterna debuted here and in Japan at #1 on the metal charts. The day this came out, this bumped Metallica down to #2 in Japan. Yeah, they are that good. I suggest now getting down to the good stuff: Anything from their Five of a Kind show at Zepp DiverCity, in Tokyo. Thunder Vengeance (their opening number), Holy War, Break the Wall, The Awakening/Hammer of Wrath (their encore), all just for starters.
When you go through their catalogue, you will realize the ladies play different metal sub-genres like power/thrash/symphonic/prog/metal ballads/rock ballads, they even incorporate classical elements like Chopin and Beethoven in some of their songs. You will also hear some of the different sub-genres in a single song. To appreciate how good they are, you need to check out their LIVE performances which I'm sure the other Wolfpack commenters here will recommend.
The Dean V that Miyako Watanabe's playing (along with the ML) is her own Dean MYK signature model. The headless 5-string bassist Fami plays is also her own signature model from Bacchus (her own signature model at 19 years old - she's 20 now - is the kind of thing to make you wonder what you've been doing with your life!). She also has a conventional bass from Freedom Guitar Research. Midori Tatematsu plays ESP guitars (and I wouldn't be surprised for her to get a signature models soon...she's already worked with their Guitar Craft Academy). Drummer Haruna has been a Pearl and Sabian endorser for years. Instrument makers are clearly tuned in to this terrific band.
LOVEBITES is the strongest and fastest all-female band. Moreover, the live performance is expressive beyond the sound source.

LOVEBITES guitarist Miyako (G and P / Black hair) began her classical piano training at the age of three.

Lovebites are real. They can be viewed "under a magnifying glass", no deception. There are all possibilities for this. They are also unique in that in four years they have released five live blu-ray (Battle in the East 2018, Daughters of the Dawn 2019, Five of a Kind 2020, Awake Again 2020, Heavy Metal Never Dies 2021) and dvd of performance at Wacken Open Air 2018. In addition, a blu-ray has been released with all ten music videos. Everything is in excellent quality, can be viewed in detail and listened to on very good equipment. A delight for the eyes and ears. By the way, Daughters of the Dawn was filmed on 19 video cameras, and Five of a Kind 2020 was filmed on 26 video cameras, which was a record for Japan at that time.For all this, a huge thank you to Victor Entertainment, which some fans of Lovebites unfairly scold for the poor promotion of the group.

M&M is the best guitar duo currently in Metal
You guys have just begun what will be a very enjoyable journey. Lovebites are the best power/thrash/speed metal band in the world right now but have been criminally ignored in the west. I spent my 20s in the 1980s and became a huge fan of Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Testament, etc. These ladies are on the level of those bands, even my beloved Iron Maiden, and might well surpass them with the upcoming album. They have 3 full albums and two EPs already under their belt and, when you include the upcoming album, about 55 songs in their catalog. The bassist in the video, Fami (only 20), is very new to the band. The original bassist and founder of the band, Miho, left in August 2021. You will be seeing a lot of Miho and I think you will appreciate her talent as well. I really think you should next hear another song from the upcoming album called Dissonance. You will then understand that they are not just a power metal band. Dissonance is pure speed and thrash and as good as you will ever hear. Just one minor disagreement. It's not that they are "ignored" in the West, its just that so many metal fans in the West have never been introduced to them. But I agree that is criminal and their record label really needs to pull their finger out and spend some money on marketing.
@@1970Phoenix My comment about them being ignored wasn't directed at metal fans, although I do think many are dismissive, but more the metal publications, websites and blogs. Since winning best new band, Metal Hammer has mentioned them a few times (although the Haruna food interview was cringeworthy) but, as far as I can remember, there is been no feature articles on Lovebites while many other bands seem to be on feature article rotation. I find it frustrating. I was however encouraged to see Metal Hammer give a nice review of Bridear's new live album and at the end where the magazine always puts "FOR FANS OF", it listed "Lovebites, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest". A formidable trio.
I am not sure how much blame to put on their label, Victor. Lovebites had London shows when barely a year old, and were already at Wacken and Bloodstock in 2018. The next year was very busy, including another trek through Europe. Miho's goal was to get them to Europe as fast as possible and it looks like their label help make that happen. The things that happened in 2020 and 2021 are also not the fault of the label. Let's see how 2023 ends up for them. I am optimistic.
Now you are ready for the live like "break the wall", "Frozen serenade", "Chopin etude+Swan song" or "Epilogue" or others. But before hear these, please (from the new album): Dissonance (pure thrash), it's only audio track but awesome! Thanks.
This will be a fun trip for you guys. Fun part is as you listen to their songs, you may think this song is better, then the next one and next one. Then you realize they all are better.
Well, you've got about another 50 songs to check out from their back catalogue. They have everything from Power/Speed Metal right through to Thrash. They literally do not have a single bad song (what other band could you say that about?) and a couple of their songs are genuine masterpieces which (in my opinion) belong on any list of the 100 best metal songs ever written. It is criminal that so many metal fans around the world have never even heard of these gorgeous, ridiculously talented young women.
Now check out Dissonance from the same album. Very heavy and thrashy. It's excellent.

Spot on with your analysis, there aren't enough superlatives in the English language (or any language for that matter) to explain just how great they are. They have the chops to play everything and anything metal and have talent in spades. Best guitar duo on the planet (Midori & Miyako), 4' 9" human metronome drummer, (Haruna), 20yr old bass phenom Fami (a YT superstar even before joining Lovebites), and the one and only voice Asami - English isn't even her primary language which is just crazy! Keep going and you'll see just how insanely talented these ladies are and what's most impressive, their music sounds so F great it doesn't matter what genre it is. Great music is great music period. Think top shelf liquor, and above that there's a tiny shelf with one bottle of the finest liquor known to mankind...that is LOVEBITES. "We're not here to be cute, we're here to be heavy". That bass player, Fami, is only 20 years old. She is a phenom on the bass and has her own RUclips channel with more subscribers and views than Lovebites. She was just hired by the band in October 2022 and this is the first video of her playing a full song with the band. All the other Lovebites videos you will see from before 2023 are with the original bass player, Miho, who founded the band back in 2016. She left in August 2021.

Was never really a big fan of metal, mostly I think vocals turned me off, but instrumentally I found it pretty cool.
Nightwish was the first band I really got into, but it was Lovebites that completely blew my mind, they are the type of metal I thought was cool, but way way better and with vocals I actually enjoyed.
Ill forever be thankful for discovering this band.
I became a metal fan back in the 80s but around 1990 or so metal began to devolve, especially vocally into the worst sounds you could possibly hear. Now its like every metal band's vocalist has to make the ugliest, deepest guttural noises and growls you can possibly imagine in the most horrific way. Although impressive in how they do it, the sound is just awful and disgusting and for the life of me I don't know why people love it so much. Lovebites is a breath of fresh air, revitalizing my love for heavy metal.

@@joshbrewer4309 I like Nightwish a lot. Floor is sensational. I prefer Lovebites though because they have a heavier sound and two phenomenal guitarists.
I agree - I've always loved the distorted guitar sound (i.e. thrash), but I hate the vocal style on almost every thrash song I've ever heard. Lovebites gives me the music I love with a vocal style I also like. It's perfection. I'm also a big Nightwish fan, and acknowledge Floor Jansen as the best (i.e. most control and versatility) female rock singer in the world today.

The old thrash metal bands - Megadeth, Anthrax, Slayer, Testament, etc. - I never cared for their vocals, it was like they were just yelling and saying words - not singing. When Asami and Lovebites does thrash they produce some of the best sounds I have ever heard. They turned me onto thrash in a big way and the Lovebites thrash songs are all among my favorites of theirs.

Yep, you've struck the Mother Lode with this band! The bassist is new, a 20 y.o. wunderkind named Fami, who has already accumulated 650K followers on You Tube for her bass covers. Now she's joined the talent factory that is Lovebites, her future (and theirs) seems assured. No disrespect to their previous bassist, Miho, who was also a star performer.
As others have mentioned, you have to see their live performances, which are mostly recorded on excellent DVD/Blu Ray productions, and mixed by the same Finnish production company who handle Nightwish.

Elite all around. The bassist - Fami has her own channel (800+ subsribers). Wait until you see their live music. Just when you think they can't get any better you hear another one of their songs. They almost always have dueling solos on every song. Midori with the biceps and Miyako are both elite. Some of our longer winded fans will give much more detail. Great reaction. Best musicianship I've seen heard in my 50 years of being a metalhead.

Virtuoso's all, period. I'm 62, been listening to metal for over 50 years, love thrash, and was never a huge power metal fan....... Lovebites is my favorite band ever, and this song is my favorite song ever.

I have been a fan since they debuted back in 2017 and I have all of their discographies and preordered the new album, 4 albums including the new one, and 4 EPs all just as amazing as what you just heard all songs are purely excellent and explosive. I have nothing more to say about what my friend Hiawatha G has given you, they will continue to blow you away with each song you check out and hopefully your journey doesn't end here.
Guy Pratt used a headless bass back in the 90's when he was Pink Floyds bassist , Mark King of Level 42 also used a headless earlier than that I think in the 80's so not particularly uncommon.

All the songs I suggested are more thrash, but overall the band is like a blend of Maiden, slayer, and Dragonforce.

You nailed pronouncing NEMOPHILA and Hanabie so well done. Japanese lady metal is impossible to beat. Most of these bands have elite musicians and write great music. NEMOPHILA, HANABIE and LOVEBITES are my top 3 bands. There are so many of these bands around so enjoy the adventure and discovery. Try HAGANE Black Cult or Saki from NEMOPHILA's old band MARYSBLOOD with Marionette. SAKI kills it in this one.

I agree - Lovebites, Nemophila and Hanabie are three AWESOME Japanese all-girl metal bands.
The bass player Fami recently won an open audition to replace the original bass player and co-founder Miho. Fami's personal YT channel devoted to her bass playing had a pretty big following before she joined Lovebites, but she was actually thinking about quitting music before her Lovebites audition. The headless bass you saw is one of her signature Bacchus models, an endorsement she got at only 18. She is crazy talented, and closest way I can describe her style is maybe Les Claypool with the technical wizardry of Steve Vai on bass. I really recommend you guys watch her bass cover/interpretation of "Alien Alien", which is a poppy anime song, but its Fami's playing that will blow your mind. Just trying to figure out how she is able to produce harmonics so effortlessly on a bass will leave you scratching your head. "Judgement Day" doesn't even scratch the surface of what she's capable of. Here's a link to "Alien Alien". incase you guys didnt know Miho the original bass player the one in this video is new and Haruna the drummer founded this band who used to be part of the female band destronse influenced the sound after iron maiden so you were correct please let me know what you think
