    🙌Great Video! I will be in Cabo at the end April and am very interested in Sport Fishing for a few hours while in Cabo San Lucas. The NCL ship that I am on offers an option but they have a total of 6 person on the boat and the total time of their excursion is 5 hours. So that would include the tender time from the ship and transfer to/from the marina leaving say 3 hours or so for fishing. In your video you mentioned a local Cabo contact would/could you provide that information to me as I am definitely interested in a charter. Great Work!

    Quick question for you. Since the ship gets to Cabo early in the morning. How early are you able to get off the ship to take a water shuttle, do you need a shuttle time to get off the ship?

    • @AlexErika
      @AlexErika  Год назад +2

      Usually within 30 minutes of them dropping anchor. If you line up early they will start offloading passengers before they make the general announcement. They want to get passengers off ASAP because time is limited in Cabo. And the Cabo tenders are pretty efficient.

    Hi! Great tips, I’m a first time cruiser and we’re about to set seas to the Mexican Riviera in just a few weeks. Do you have any suggestions/tips for traveling with a group of 18 people. • @AlexErika
      @AlexErika  9 месяцев назад

      We just did a back to back cruise with 17 and a wide range of ages. It's tough. For this itinerary. I'd probably do the same items I have mentioned in the video for Cabo, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta. If the 90 has decent mobility they should enjoy. For example, in Mazatlan Julian with Red Truck Tours can accommodate mobility scooters. Puerto Vallarta, a visit to the Malecon or a nice resort would be fun. I'm Cabo, the boat rides to the Arch are fun and most ages won't have an issue.

    • @AlexErika

      Hey, sorry for the delay. Lovers beach you pay round trip usually because you don't really want to be left there by yourself. Lovers beach can have high tides and rough waters getting in and out of the water taxi. It's nice for a few photos, to soak your feet in the sand but we usually head back to Medano Beach after 10-15 minutes.

    • @AlexErika
      @AlexErika  Год назад +3

      Generally the cruise lines are 25-50% more expensive on the excursions but it all depends on what you plan on doing. We love to plan ahead as well and we rarely do excursions through the cruise line. We just plan ahead through outside vendors who cater to cruise line passengers.
      LAX or Long Beach Airport, whatever offers you the best itinerary and price is the airport I would fly into.
      Hotel Maya is cheaper and within walking distance to the ship if you are sailing on Carnival. The Hyatt Regency is a little pricier but has more activities around the hotel but you will take an Uber or I believe they offer a shuttle to the ship.
      As for activities in Long Beach or LA, that's tough because there is a lot to do depending on your budget.

    How long does it take to get to the port from the ship? How much time in advance should I book my excursion?

    • @AlexErika
      @AlexErika  Год назад

      The water taxi ride is about 5-10 minutes depending on what position the ship anchors that day. 5 minutes being you are the first ship and 10 minutes being you are the 2nd or 3rd ship out depending on how busy it is in Cabo.
      As for booking your excursion, it all depends on the excursion. The Arch tour and snorkeling is always available the day of. Something like fishing or a private boat charter you would want to book that in advance.

    Hi Alex! Great videos. I'm taking a 8-day Mexican Riviera trip in May-June of this year and your videos have been extremely helpful.
    I do have one question that I haven't been able to find a concrete answer to. I'm a US Citizen who will be traveling out of Long Beach with an adult friend of mine and her two daughters (both daughters under 18 but all 3 are also US Citizens). Do we need to have a passport to enter any of the ports (Cabo San Lucas, La Paz, Mazatlan, & Puerto Vallarta) or would a birth certificate and California ID be accepted to be able to enter? I know it's recommended that we travel with a passport but I'm just wondering in the event that we aren't able to obtain them if we'll be able to enter through security once in port. I'm not familiar with the protocol. If you could help me out I would truly appreciate it.
    Thanks Alex!

    • @AlexErika
      @AlexErika  6 месяцев назад

      Glad the videos have been helpful. Google search Closed Loop Cruise. The cruise you are taking is considered a closed loop cruise because it starts and ends from the same US port. You don't need a passport for this cruise. I actually did this itinerary a few times and with friends when we were younger with just a passport and ID. Also a good idea to take a notorized letter for any friends you are taking who are under 18 years old. Whenever I traveled as a minor my dad always gave me a notorized letter to take with me. Hope that helps. 👍

    • @AlexErika
      @AlexErika  Год назад

      Are you talking about Cabo or Puerto Vallarta? Because you commented on the video in Puerto Vallarta which has a marina and dock so there is no need for tenders.
      Regarding Cabo, the tenders run every 5-10 minutes. How late they run depends on the cruise line policy. If you are overnighting in Cabo the policy varies by cruise line. If the cruise line says you can stay out all hours of the night then they will run every 15-30 minutes through the night. We have had both situations, where we had to be back on the ship by 1 am for example and had to sleep on the ship and another time we could come and go as we pleased.

    Just had a bad experience on a water taxi in Cabo. The taxi driver didn't park on the shoreline. He was fighting the tides and was attempting to go in and out on the shoreline to let one person out at a time. My brother was getting out and lost his footing some kind of way. He ended up completely rupturing his patellar tendon on his left knee. I sat back and hung with him for the rest of his cruise because he couldn't really use his leg. So our cruise experience wasn't good at all. He's scheduled for surgery soon and I hope he regains most of his mobility.

    Are the private tours and excursion worth it over the carnival package in Puerto Vallarta?

    • @AlexErika
      @AlexErika  9 месяцев назад

      I think you will get much better value planning your own excursions. You will save money and usually you can do a private tour. Large tours only move as fast as the slowest person in your tour group.

    Any suggestions for Mexican Riviera stops with someone who uses a mobility scooter?

    • @AlexErika
      @AlexErika  2 года назад +1

      As far as excursions go? You will find that all of these ports are pretty friendly for scooters. Even Cabo where you have to use the water shuttle has a couple large water shuttles that you can roll right on without any issues. As for excursions, it depends on what you like. I would likely do a resort pass as I mentioned in the videos but if a swimming pool is not ideal or appealing than I would do the cultural / city tours offered either through the cruise line or with the company I mentioned. If that is not appealing you can do a can taxi to the main part of town and explore on your own. Also in Mazatlán, the tour I mentioned with my friend Julian and the Red Truck Tours, he has a ramp option for people to do his city tour with a mobility scooter. That is a great tour. Check him out on Facebook, he has some photos of other people using a scooter who took his tour. Have a great time!

    Thanks, Alex, for this info. My husband and I are taking our first cruise in January to the Mexican Riviera with our two young kids (3 & 5). Do you have any tips for activities or things to know for any of these ports with the kids? Thank you 😊

    • @AlexErika
      @AlexErika  Год назад +1

      Cabo, the kids at least ours enjoyed the boat trip out to the Arch and playing on the beach over at Medano Beach.
      Mazatlan, I'd still do the red truck tour, I think it's fun for all ages.
      Puerto Vallarta, I'd definitely do the resort pass at the hotel I mentioned in the video for Puerto Vallarta. That's a fantastic hotel. If not, the Pirate Ship excursion or Las Caletas are great. I also mentioned those in the video.

    can i swim from the marina to the arch on the sea of cortez side where its calmer than the pacific ocean side? are there sharks in the water?

    • @AlexErika
      @AlexErika  Год назад +2

      Not sure about sharks but it would still be a fairly dangerous swim. There is a LOT of boat activity so you'd be in a dangerous spot. Plus on the sea of Cortez side the water can be fairly rough so it would not be a safe swim with all the rocks around you. When you take a tour to go snorkeling they get you past the rough areas to a fairly calm spot that is safe for snorkeling.

    • @AlexErika

      In Cabo? El Toro Guero Seafood if you want to eat really good local seafood. If you want to stay by the beach the Office has very good food but it's a little more pricey.

    • @AlexErika

      Cabo doesn't really have a downtown. The port area is in the central area of town especially for tourism. That entire area is very safe and very walkable.

    Is pelican rock a good snorkel spot? is it walking distance from medano beach?

    • @AlexErika
      @AlexErika  Год назад +1

      It's a great spot for snorkeling but impossible to walk to and from unless the tide was extremely low. Most people get to Pelican Rock by water taxi and then have the water taxi drop them off at Medano Beach afterwards.

    • @Helloadventures2024

    • @AlexErika

      At the snorkeling spot? Yes, because there isn't any beach area by Pelican Rock. The water taxi is right there the entire time to make sure you stay safe. Usually after 20-30 minutes people are tired and get back on the water taxi boat.

      Yes, you can walk. It's about a 25 minute walk. Type in The Office into Google maps and you will get directions from the dock. Along the beach might be a bit longer because the sand really slows you down.

      Sorry for the late reply, we just returned from another cruise in Europe. My suggestion, take a traditional taxi to the beach. they are very common and easy to get. It will be a little more expensive but they can drop you about 50 yards from the water next to Mango Deck and The Office. Hope that helps.

    Can you go into these bars if you have kids with you? Can you buy a bottle of booze and bring it back on the ship?

    • @AlexErika
      @AlexErika  Год назад +1

      Generally all the bars are pretty family friendly and many close at 7-8. Our experience with beach bars and regular bars is that they really don't enforce age restrictions until 9-10 pm when the bar turns into more of a club.
      As for buying a bottle, yes but security will hold it and give it back to you on the last night of the cruise.
