    I just wanted to say thank you for making this video. If it wasn't for your video we would have never met Julian or Miguel. I just want to give a huge shout out to Miguel and Julian. Since Julian was already booked he set us up with Miguel since they work together. It was nice to see Miguel waiting for us as soon as we were off the ship. Miguel was amazing and took us on a full tour of Mazatlan. He explained all the stops, and answered all of our questions. He spoke perfect English which was great for us since 3 of the 4 did not speak any Spanish. He made our day so much better with his private tour. I highly recommend Miguel. He is a hardworking, respectful and kind young man. He really made us feel like family and we hope to see him again soon.

    I have to also say how much my husband, aunt, uncle and I enjoyed our time with Julian last week! We can’t stop talking about how he absolutely made our trip to Mazatlan. He went above and beyond to show us around his beautiful city! We asked and he not only made recommendations, he actually took us to where we could find what we were looking for … playing cards, seafood, tequila. No problem! He even took us to a cute little breakfast spot where I discovered my new favorite bean, the mayocoba. Delicious! We can’t wait to go back. I will admit that I was somewhat apprehensive at first, but after I showed your video to my husband he was onboard with reaching out. We’re so glad we did! Anyone on the fence should just do it! And yes, he brought beer - Pacifico which was needed on a gorgeous but blazing hot day.

    • @AlexErika

      Filtered water is always available in Mexico for drinking and all reputable establishments use filtration systems for watering, rinsing food. Also if you're going to be on a cruise ship you will have limited time at each port. Have your main meals on the ship and light snacks on land that you feel comfortable with.

    Hello. I really enjoyed your video about seeing Mazatlan during a day in port, and feel much better prepared for our upcoming cruise. We would like to view Mazatlan from an elevation for the pure enjoyment of the scenery and of course, to take pictures. I understand that there is a lighthouse atop a cliff that offers a really great vista, but that it is only accessible by walking, and the walk is rated as a pretty high degree of difficulty. Is there anywhere other than this that you could recommend that offers a comparable view? Thank you. Mike

    • @AlexErika

      We have never walked up to the lighthouse but there are a couple spots where we have stopped with Julian and have a great view of the city and the cruise ship. There are a couple spots like that that are easily accessible. You can see them in some of our cruise videos for Mazatlan.

      Mazatlan? You are on the pier, it's pretty quick but it depends on the ship. We are always ready to get off 15 minutes before the estimated time on the schedule if we want to maximize our day in Mazatlan. Hi brother great video,, but quick question,, how safe it was in every port that you when,, I'm about to get the same run but is good to know

    • @AlexErika
      @AlexErika  2 года назад +1

      Super safe. I have traveled to Mexico hundreds of times. The locals know that tourism is a huge part of their economy. It's safe. You just have to watch out for common scams like buying a nice bottle of tequila that's filled with cheap tequila. As for safety, my wife, kids and I are in Mexico every couple of months and we have never had any issues but we are always respectful to local laws and somewhat responsible. If you watch our videos we like to drink and have a great time.

  • @DisciplineOne
    @DisciplineOne 2 года назад +1

    Good informative video. I have a question about paying for the different services like water taxis, drinks at the resort in the video cash or card, do I need to get pesos? Tipping do they include it in the price? Restaurants? Tours? If so percentage? Do you haggle or just go with the price? Hints about dealing with language barrier?

    • @AlexErika
      @AlexErika  2 года назад

      Good question, hotels, bars, tour companies like the one I mention in the video have set prices, larger establishments like these all take credit cards. The only time we really use cash is for local taxis and tips. Dollars are fine but having some pesos will save you a little money on the exchange. But if all you have are dollars everyone is happy to take your American currency.
      Usually the tours you organize the day of out in the street with street vendors will prefer cash but even many of them have apps to accept credit cards.

    • @DisciplineOne
      @DisciplineOne 2 года назад +1

      @@AlexErika Thanks. How much in Pesos and to mix w/ dollars would one get for your 3 stops Mexican Rivera cruise? Think two people anywhere from cheap to middle-ish. Tipping in restaurants percentage? Tip like US restaurants? Tour tipping? An example if two people were to take a Red Truck tour realizing there would be others we know, so not inclusive

    • @DisciplineOne
      @DisciplineOne 2 года назад +1

      Forgive me I just re-read your reply.

    • @AlexErika
      @AlexErika  2 года назад +1

      @@DisciplineOne for us I usually have $100 in US and $100 in Pesos at each port knowing that I'll try to pay everything I can with my card and just use the cash when I can't use my card. Usually we don't spend that much "cash" but we have it just in case. The only exception is a tour like the red truck tour, then I take $100 + my portion of the tour cost in US currency.
      As for tipping, 10% is the standard for Mexico but again when we receive great service we usually tip 15-20%.

    Not worth it. Red flags from the beginning. As we met the person with the sign at the Oxo I asked if he was Julian, he said yes and to follow him that his car was a few blocks up the road. As I asked to see his drivers license it looked like he got offended. His name wasn’t Julian I told him my deal was with Julian, apparently Julian pawned us off to another person I knew nothing about. him and had an uneasy feeling the whole time. We originally booked the whole day, but decided to end early he charged us 180.00 for 2 people. I wanted to use Julian.
