This plane can loop if you put the transmitter in high rates... Just be careful - the turns get extremely touchy. It can even do a rudder only roll if you get your speed up.
I jumped into the hobby with this 3 channel plane, just a few month ago. It is a very good airplane to learn to fly RC airplanes in my opinion. The reason I got the F949 in the first place was that I did not want to spend a lot of money but I just wanted to see if the hobby would appeal to me. It did. Soon after I got it, I also bought the wltoys F959 (also a 3 channel) and strapped a smal SQ12 camera to it. Very fun, and inexpensive airplanes. I crashed both of the planes multiple times but they held up pretty good. Now I got a Sport Cub S 2 with a DX6 transmitter because I think it is time for me to step up from the 3 channel planes to a 4 channel plane. I got the DX6 because I really enjoy flying and would like to fly with just one transmitter for all my future airplanes. I think buying the F949 is a very good, inexpensive way to see if the hobby appeals to you. It probably will...
Hi! I'm learning to fly right now using the Hobbyzone Champ. I've been thing about the Sport Cub S 2 as my next plane (or UMX Trubo Timber). It would appear that you'd recommend getting the Cub in BNF and buying a separate transmitter, correct? Which model DX6 did you get?
@@BillKisel Yes, that is right. I have a DX6 3rd Generation EU model. If you already have an airplane that is compatible with a spektrum transmitter (like the champ) I would recommend a DX6e or above. I originally intended to just buy the DX6e which is capable enough but since the DX6 was just 20 bucks more at the time, I chose that option. A nice perk about the DX6 is that it has voice build into the transmitter so it can tell you things like battery voltage or flight time. Beware that if you buy the Sport Cub S 2 BNF you will need to buy a LiPo battery and charger separately as they do not come with the BNF version.
Cut my teeth on this one, and I can say from experience it is a great beginner plane. Crashed it more than I can remember and just kept going. I think I replace a prop which came with mine. The only down side I can give it is the brushed motor you'll only get about 50 flights before it needs replaced. But that is more than enough to get you started in the hobby. Still got mine in my hanger with all my warbirds. "She was my first" Thanks for the memories!
My daughter bought one of these for me for Christmas 2018 as my first RC airplane. Her husband said it wouldn't last 10 minutes. It is one tough little plane. On it's first flight I lost control of it and slammed it into the aluminum siding on my house but it just bounced off. I was learning to fly in the winter and at times snow would get inside and make the servo's act up. It survived all this abuse and I did learn how to fly a winged RC plane with it. I have had to reattach the wing mount tab and reposition and remount the motors a couple of times. Even after all this I still take it out and fly it on calm nights just for fun. For my second plane I bought a used Horizon Hobby Sensei and that has been a good plane for me too.
Great little plane I moved the elevator push rod to the middle hole on the horn and will just about do a loop. If it doesn't make it and stall it always roll out of inverted nicely on its own. And its indestructible 👍
I’m a long time RC hobby and have many old (30-40 years) and new RC aircraft (balsa/foam/gas/electric) I fly. I saw your P-51 Mustang video 4 months ago and I bought it immediately. What a great flying aircraft. I love flying it and I get about 10 minutes on the battery. It preforms really well for its size. I also ordered the Smart Jet - XK a100 after watching your video, it looks like a blast to fly. Thanks for the reviews you do, keep it up…
That was my first Rc airplane. I had fun with it, It lasted 15 - 25 minutes in the air. It flies great on calm days, wind can knock it around or in my case, get it stuck in a tree. I should thank you guys for cementing my interest in the hobby. I've got some edf jets that I'm dying to take to the field soon.
Great plane I taught my 70 year old uncle how to fly with this!...you know there is a high and low rate button on the top left when you turn the tx on it defaults to low you can see on the top left corner of the tx screen an L ...push the left side silver button and it should change to an H ...flys way better in high rates and you can get your loops no problem!
I can highly recommend the Cessna, very light, small, and easy to control. Mine lasted for so long and even flew when one of the motors stopped working
Top left button switches between high and low rates. Loops are possible in high rates. It does take time to settle the trim but afterwards it is a very nice flyer. Speed is good and 220 mAh batteries still give 10 min of flight times. Also, I have that Eachines P51 on order and have their Corsair on preorder. Can't wait. Thank you for the video!
If you order one and you havent flown an rc plane before I would suggest buying it with left hand throttle. Mode 2 (throttle stick on the left) is much more popular way of flying and so transmitters will be much more easier and cheaper to find. Start good habits now!
Someone looking to try out the hobby can't go wrong with this one. The reason it feels a bit stablized is the wing dihedral - it tends to make the play 'fall' into level flight. WLToys is a really good source of budget RC stuff. Most of the products they put out are pretty good.
I just literally ordered the S version with the gyros. We will see how it goes. Cost 75 bucks on Amazon. I had a 25 dollar gift certificate. So it was 50 something. I have never flown so I didn't want to spend money on something nice.
Nice job! I reviewed this same plane last summer in a small church parking lot near my home. I hit power lines and crashed and this thing just kept going. Don't go watch the video! It is from when I was using a fixed position camera. LOL!!
I loved that plane! It totally got me back in the hobby 3 years ago- and now I'm flying 6S jets..there will always be a special place in my heart for the F949..I should probably buy another. I flew that thing to death! And yes, I could get 20-25 minutes. It was fun to fly it almost out of sight, then glide down, and repeat. I almost lost it in a strong thermal on a summer afternoon.
I can personally say that this plane is pretty awesome for a cheap beginner plane. Mine has taken a lot of hard crashes just because my property is surrounded by trees and out buildings, but it keeps going. The nose is smashed up and the wings are bent from being stored for a year or 2 without using it and it still flies. Battery door is broken and it is just trashed but it keeps going. It is cheap so it isn't the end of the world. I bought another one that I haven't used yet because the other one just won't die. I may go out and break it in today. So, for anyone thinking about buying just a cheap plane to have fun with, absolutely buy it. Tons of fun with no stress.
I bought one of these, maidened it this weekend, flew great. You said it didn’t have flight stabilization. Mine definitely does, rudder and elevator twitch as you move it around in your hand, it’s subtle, but it’s definitely there. Love your videos, keep up the great work. I’ve purchased several of you recommendations. Looking forward to flying them all.
@@TheWaynecollins I ordered the S version I don't know if that was a trick to sell more because the regular version has it but the reason why I ordered the S version it is advertised you have a gyro / updated.
You got an S version if the rudder and elevator moves if you are first starting to fly, it twitches as you move the plane nose down up, bank left right....if it doesn't, you got the early version which is the F949....without the S - stabilization/gyro......but what is cool with the early version is you can hook up to a more stable transmitter like the flysky FSi6. The f959S version which I believed doesn't and has other protocols so you have to use the stock tx of it.
So many people have said this was their first plane in the comments... me too! I've even read that experienced r/c flyers love it because of the looong flight time, and it's just so relaxing to fly. I tried to do an inverted loop with mine once... nosed straight into the ground from 30 metres up, no damage, and it was flying again 10 seconds later :)
Hi@all... it has devinitely no flight stabilization, a low center of gravity manages it all. My girlfriend started flying with this plan. First i was not sure whether it is waste of money, but after flying myself, i was surprised wat potential of fun is hidden in this plane. The flight time of over 20 minutes and its behavior in stronger winds is amazing and we own 4 batteries. We adjusted the pins on the elevator and rudder horn to get mor steering input and we made it to do some loops.
Had one of these... one crash ... motor cracked in 2.... Wasn't even a bad crash. managed to super glue it together and flew it a bit more before it gave up the ghost.
I noticed the link to the plane took me to a versiom with throttle on the right stick. Most in the US are used to left stick throttle so read and order what you want carfully. Looks like a fun one.
I got my F949 sold as a modified p707? The box says F949 but the sticker on the wing says p707? Mine transmitter has a GYRO button and A TRAINER mode button. The GYRO works as the servos go crazy when swiveling the plane around by hand! The "trainer" MODE retards the controls quite a bit and helps to keep it air born for like BEGINNERS like me! Was a great price for a great little BEGINNER airplane! The plane is TOUGH as nails! I have crashed DOZENS of times with ZERO damage! The wing flex can be an issue causing Radical spiral dives. I found that a 9 1/2" strip of scotch tape carefully place on the underside of the leading edge with 3/4" of the tape contacting the fuselage stops alot of the wing flex! HAPPY FLYING NEW-BEES like me!! :) :) :) SO HAPPY I bought this little GEM!!!
Same here. I know this is 2 years old but the little cheap plane is really good. I didn't want to spend money on a RC that I KNOW I would destroy. Well, after flying into the out buildings and getting it stuck in trees and smashing into the side of my car, this thing just keeps going. I think this was the review that made me buy it years ago. I bought another one it was so good that I have yet to fly yet because the original one keeps going. Its insane. the thing is completely trashed lol.
Hi the silver button next to the antenna on the top left side on the transmitter is a two speed elevator+rudder control so you can turn and lift quicker and do loops.
I have a few 3-channel fixed wings (including the Champ and the Duet). I had another one until this afternoon. A Vintage Stick. It had a lot of damage (three repairs from me learning to fly on a fragile park flyer). Anyway, today I tried a loop and it worked great. Tight loop. Then I forgot to drop the throttle and move the elevator down and... well, it was a good little plane even if it was a bit frail. It exploded. I kinda knew that was going to happen. Also, I ordered that little Su-27 looking 'jet' you guys reviewed and loved. Never got that little P-51, but I figured I'd give them another chance. :)
If the price holds until next month I might just give it a go. It's just the right size for my local park and, hopefully, by then I'll be able to go outside a bit!
Nice vid y'all. Cute little plane, like the price point. In the middle of an FT build, you notification came up, stopped to watch. Worth it! Be well and stay safe. HIT THAT BELL!!!GET NOTIFICATIONS!!!
I have this F949 and the F959 Sky King. You can set them up on multi protocol radio (I use Jumper T8SG) as Flysky, and they do have dual rates so you can definitely do loops.
@@TheRcSaylorsI actually have the Jumper T8SG V2 advanced which is yellow but with the regular LED screen not OLED and I'm happy with it. Also there are multi protocol modules like jumper jp4in1, irangex irx4 (also comes in lite version), and one that works on the Flysky FS-i6 (irangex irx6).
Somehow the propeller came off and the little pin in the middle of the motor gears slides freely back and forth. Any ideas on how to get the prop back on? Is it already broken? :(
I have this plane and I am a fan and both of you are better pilots than me because I watched many of your videos but I have flown double loops with this plane more than once, not that it's easy for me to control. I want to fly it in a BIG field so I can't lose it. But to do loops you have to climb in a slow circle up high then turn the elevator down, give it 1/2 throttle as it points straight down, give it full up elevator and full throttle as it passes horizontal, and hold it and it will loop twice at least as long as the wind isn't a factor. That's what I found out with this plane. I did put all control adjustments in full deflection, meaning inside hole.
Thanks, for flying this one. It just shows how capable these little planes are. Good flying time. My Wltoys F949 Cesna 182 is still in the box. Waiting for post Lockdown to fly. I did notice when checking mine out, that there is only small horizontal and vertical movement. Not sure if this is right. So will have to wait for the maiden flight.
This was my first RC plane that I bought with more than two channels.I don't remember seeing anywhere that the reason it had three motors was for more power, I thought it was just for efficiency. On the stock battery and flying in calm conditions, I was able to fly this for 30 minutes. My only complaint is that the pins that hold the wheels on the landing gear in kept falling out and eventually I lost a wheel. It's also possible to loop this plane if you dive towards the ground to gain speed first.
Nice plane, good flight time, good flying Nate. Abby well done NO safe, and you flew great. You have elevated your skill level. Nate you forgot to get a shot of the crane's. Fun fly day.⚓⚓👍👍🌈💞🌈👍👍⚓⚓.
I bought quite a few of these. The motors are crap and usually fail quickly due to cheap shitty wiring. The plane itself however flys well and is extremely durable compared to it fragile expensive counterparts. I upgrade them to a brushless system and they are hard to beat on performance and durability.
Been recently considering taking up this hobby. Was curious how this aircraft can bank without ailerons. Googled it and learned about rudder skid and dihedral wings. Btw, you two do a great job your videos.
Thank you very much, and I'm impressed with your follow through and will to educate yourself on the subject. I mean this whole heartedly as most people just ask something without doing any research. Welcome to an amazing hobby! If I can help steer you in the direction of getting airborne, I'd be happy to help 👍⚓😎
Just ordered this bird. I've come to realize that this C-182 is the most fit for a complete beginner. In your vid you mention flying this plane would be a great 2nd step, sorry if I missed it but what's the first? Love the channel.
I saw your video and commented... I think your problem is depleted (or rechargeable) AA batteries in the transmitter. Many transmitters don't like the 1.2V that NiMH rechargeables provide, the WLToys ones need 1.5V (or at least 1.25V minimum, which freshly-charged rechargeables can only provide for 15 mins or so before dropping below that with this transmitter).
Thanks @@paulcucit2786! You solved the issue on that unit. She's RTF now. Planning on a maiden this afternoon if the wind is right here in San Diego. WLtoys is officially off my naughty list due to pilot idiocy (low AA batteries).
Quite often when it's windy at home, I'll decide to take my sailboat to the boating pond only to find that there is no wind whatsoever. I guess the answer is to take a plane with me so, either way, I have something to have fun with!
I learned how to fly on this plane, good times. If you try really hard you can do a loop. I was able to get it inverted with lots of luck and went with it for a little while.
I have this plane, had great fun with it, and I lost it in a tree and got it back 5 days later. All is well. Iv'e been watching your videos and you are both better pilots than me but the F949 Cessna 182 does loops easily with the controls on high rate. You guys just goofed somehow. I did many loops until I eventually landed on top of a tree.
Yes, this is a perfect small little beginner plane.. It does not need gyro, it's self stability due to the well design body, high wings, and especially the very very soft main wings, if watch it carefully, the wings will self banding whenever the plane is out of balance, so it will automatically recovered :-) Not to mention, at our local flying group.. including the gaser flyer.. almost everyone eneded up buying one for his little plane..and have a great racing together.. it is fun and it crashing without damaging at all. Difficult to perform loop due to under speed, and the self banding capacity wings..but...LOL.. I manage to do inverted fly with mine:-) I have a person compilation of this plane for it take-off and landing short clip in youtube too :-)
Good Job Nate and Abby. It's a great little plane. It's cheap and it fly's great and pretty long for the batterie size. When it comes to Banggood I bought the Bugs 4w 4k drone, with x3 Batteries, and it came perfectly fine for me like. I have managed to get 3 flights in and it's awesome. 💯👊👍 Ps because of the Lock Down here in the UK
25 minutes, nice! Maybe watching circles might be monotonous, but climbs, low passes, etc. I would definitely watch the whole flight. (If that's an accurate time) like the look of this one.
I had one of those, it's eh so-so, it was a bit too slow for me. I had fun flying it, flying in between power lines and stuff. I'd recommend it to anyone starting out in the hobby, or someone that doesn't want to break the bank with a large model.
Wish my Champ had that type foam. Just this morning had a crash and needed to tape the fuselage back together. 😥 On the plus side the repair was easy to do and she's ready to fly again.
That's what I was just thinking myself. I would love a Champ made out of this foam! Sorry to hear about the crash, but as you said it is easy to repair. Happy Flying 👍⚓😎
@@TheRcSaylors Just the last of many crashes I've had with the Champ since I got it about 3 weeks ago. This particular crash was onto a tar and chip road. All the rest were onto grass.
I just ordered it now for 33 € with fast shipping (not from China). Do you have any recommendations for batteries? The original costs 10 € and the cheap ones cost about 2 €.
I have one it does to loops ! Adjust the elevator and I got it to loop. Nice job with a toy as I bought it for my kids. They crashed it and it still fly's.
Yeah these RTF models feel more sensitive because the controller is usually much smaller than hobby grade stuff and have cheaper springs in them. Overall, it gets the job done but won't "feel" like a higher class model. We don't really get overly concerned about sensitivity etc... at this price point. Hope you are enjoying flying it, despite the rate of input 👍😁😎⚓
I heard you say it was a WL Toys plane, but I didn't hear the model #. Surprised this one did not come from Eachine like the P51D & F4U. Where can we get it?
YES ANTHER AIRPLANE!!!L I have to apologize for my temper tantrum, stomping my feet with sucking my thumb when yall said no more Drone's, in hindsight what would you be showing other than what Mav Air 2, You have help me get to the spot want to be flying Airplanes, did me a favor THANKS SAILORS YALL THE FIRST FAMILY AND KNOW YOUR STUFF!
I just got mine and ran into a problem right away; when I do somewhat fast yaws it works but if I yaw slowly it'll beep and stop yawing to the right until I go neutral and start over. Yawing really slowly works neither ways. Is this a thing for this plane or is it a factory error? Feels so so having to turn so much every time. Elevator works without a hitch tho.
Your control surfaces r not centered ..........Just look up on youtube CENTERING YOUR CONTROL SURFACES MANUALLY ...... What u need to do is set set TRIM ON TRANSMITTER TO MIDDLE ...............Take of the control rod for rudder...by unclamping the end clamp now screw / unscrew that end clamp on control rod to manually to lengthen or shorten it ...such that once u reconnect end clamp rudder is pointing straight backward ie not leaning either side. Done
@@engineerahmed7248 Thanks for the reply; the servos are centered though. I had to center them for another plane so I'm familiar with the procedure. I'm currently waiting on a replacement part to be sent to me. The current ESC with inbuilt servos is covered in glue which is most likely the culprit.
I don't see the logic in buying that plane when the Mini Mustang P-51D and the Mini F4U Corsair, which you mentioned, both have three mode flight select, so if you want total control you can select the expert mode without any stabilization. Unless of course you just want one with the cub look. Oh and both of the other planes have 14 MINUTES of flight time which is enough for me. Still enjoy your videos, stay well.
It looks nice and all but I think I'd prefer the P-51. Still waiting for it on the mail. It's been almost 2 months. I'm contacting them to see where it is.
I've bookmarked that plane.. I'll probably pick one up. I love my Champ, but I want to also teach my wife. This one looks perfect! She loves her CHAMP but is scared of flying it and breaking it.. hahah! So ... this one should fit the bill perfectly! So... what was the flight time?

Hi the silver button next to the antenna on the top left side on the transmitter is a two speed elevator+rudder control so you can turn and lift quicker and do loops.
yep, dual rates
I never realised that - will have to check it out.
The dihedral wing shape makes it very stable
So, how long did it fly for?
Two close calls Abby and 2 great saves you fly so much better now than 2 years ago. Thanks for the upload guys.
I really need to get one of those jumper radios 👍⚓😎
@@TheRcSaylorsI actually have the Jumper T8SG V2 advanced which is yellow but with the regular LED screen not OLED and I'm happy with it. Also there are multi protocol modules like jumper jp4in1, irangex irx4 (also comes in lite version), and one that works on the Flysky FS-i6 (irangex irx6).
Cool plane and video 👍👍 One of these days I'll get one !!!
Somehow the propeller came off and the little pin in the middle of the motor gears slides freely back and forth. Any ideas on how to get the prop back on? Is it already broken? :(
Did u fix it? Otherwise bzy the engine pack, its less than 12$ xD
It has stabilization, u gotta turn it on with the right shoulder button on the control unit
Cool little plane, great job guys 👋
AWESOME plane!! Thanks Saylors for the honest review!! GREAT job!! 💟👍😘
You should put the landing gear it will look cooler when you fly and it will be easier to fly and land.
I bought quite a few of these. The motors are crap and usually fail quickly due to cheap shitty wiring. The plane itself however flys well and is extremely durable compared to it fragile expensive counterparts. I upgrade them to a brushless system and they are hard to beat on performance and durability.
That looks nice
U should not use banggood because i found this plane for cheaper at like $52 but banggood was $106 and I was mad. And it was on eBay for new by WLtoys
I bought mine on amazon at the time for about what you paid.
So Nate, where did you add your final flight time?
Been recently considering taking up this hobby. Was curious how this aircraft can bank without ailerons. Googled it and learned about rudder skid and dihedral wings. Btw, you two do a great job your videos.
Thank you very much, and I'm impressed with your follow through and will to educate yourself on the subject. I mean this whole heartedly as most people just ask something without doing any research. Welcome to an amazing hobby! If I can help steer you in the direction of getting airborne, I'd be happy to help 👍⚓😎
Thanks! I never knew/heard that. I just assumed it was because the wing on the outside of the turn was moving faster and therefore getting more lift.
Just ordered this bird. I've come to realize that this C-182 is the most fit for a complete beginner. In your vid you mention flying this plane would be a great 2nd step, sorry if I missed it but what's the first? Love the channel.
One with flight stabilisation, such as Horizon Hobby's SAFE system. But this is great as a first plane too - it was my first!
@@paulcucit2786 I've already upgraded to a Sport Cub S2. After ordering 2 WLtoys Cessnas that didn't work. ruclips.net/video/RZ0t9TzlQyU/видео.html
Excellent! Well, at least the issue made you order another plane to enjoy too... have you flown the Sport Cub yet?
HEY GUYS, glad y’all are safe, great video Nate
I love your videos and your enthusiasm.
Thank you very much 👍⚓😎
Quite often when it's windy at home, I'll decide to take my sailboat to the boating pond only to find that there is no wind whatsoever.
It does not need gyro, it's self stability due to the well design body, high wings, and especially the very very soft main wings, if watch it carefully, the wings will self banding whenever the plane is out of balance, so it will automatically recovered :-)
Not to mention, at our local flying group.. including the gaser flyer.. almost everyone eneded up buying one for his little plane..and have a great racing together.. it is fun and it crashing without damaging at all.
Difficult to perform loop due to under speed, and the self banding capacity wings..but...LOL.. I manage to do inverted fly with mine:-)
I have a person compilation of this plane for it take-off and landing short clip in youtube too :-)
is the controller compatible with different receivers ?
No
its not designed to but maybe
Which one is better for a starter?? This or p51 warbird??
There is a new one on OfferUp in Southern California Orange county right now for 60 bucks
Awesome 👍👍😎 videos nice video Nate
Thanks Don 👍⚓😎
I also hear you can upgrade to a different motor and or props... Not sure if true.
Looks like a real fun plane!
Definitely a winner 👍⚓😎
Sold out!! Looks like a good one.
Just looked... Sold out RIGHT HAND throttle but available with left hand throttle like we generally fly in the USA.
I have one it does to loops ! Adjust the elevator and I got it to loop. Nice job with a toy as I bought it for my kids. They crashed it and it still fly's.
Is it just my old self or are the controls real sensitive. It flew well once I learned to give real micro movements on the stick.
Dude i have this planes its a bit under powerd but other then that its great. Awsome to see yall reviewing it
Nice
haha, i taught my mother how to fly with using one of these 😍she loved it
PLS can anybody help me and Tell me how to remove the main gear from the motor?😊
It does have stabilization that kicks in at 25% throttle
It does have stabilizeation, u gotta press the right silver shoulder button once. Hold it in hand no throttle and try it 🙂
He doesnt have it bro its a F949
My f949S has stabilization. You move the plane around and the servos correct it.
Sorry, What's the name of the PLUG?? How do i find extensions and parallels
How minutes can it fly per battery?
15
Yeah I would absolutely watch you guys fly for an hour lol
Nice little plane. Yeah it will be dead calm here and windy at the airfield.
Nice little ✈️
We really like what it has to offer 👍⚓😎
Ironically I bought this plane a week ago and decided to buy the p-51 today, wish I knew the p-51 was easier to fly 😂
Super. Keren bro. 👍👍
Cool plane
I heard you say it was a WL Toys plane, but I didn't hear the model #. Surprised this one did not come from Eachine like the P51D & F4U. Where can we get it?
Posted 46 minutes ago and already over 1,000 views👍
Good job guys!!
Does this plane have pitch control arms?? Cant tell
Which one is better? This or p51 warbird with gyro??? 🤔🤔
they came out with a f949s that has gyro.
YES ANTHER AIRPLANE!!!L
I have to apologize for my temper tantrum, stomping my feet with sucking my thumb when yall said no more Drone's, in hindsight what would you be showing other than what Mav Air 2, You have help me get to the spot want to be flying Airplanes, did me a favor THANKS SAILORS YALL THE FIRST FAMILY AND KNOW YOUR STUFF!
What u need to do is set set TRIM ON TRANSMITTER TO MIDDLE ...............Take of the control rod for rudder...by unclamping the end clamp
now screw / unscrew that end clamp on control rod to manually to lengthen or shorten it ...such that once u reconnect end clamp rudder is pointing straight backward ie not leaning either side.
Where you fly the plane?
Yes another budget plaine
Cool little plane. What was the flight time?
It looks nice and all but I think I'd prefer the P-51. Still waiting for it on the mail. It's been almost 2 months. I'm contacting them to see where it is.
Cessna 182RG and 210 have retracts.
I've got this plane it glides well and battery last forever hard to take off of ground tho
