Hi Lee Great video and review of the HEEWING Ranger T-1, I definitely found my next model. I just finished my AR wing and wing pro. I have a Flight test Freedom fox with Headtracker, but I don't drive, I have a wheelchair and a trailer for carrying my models, but they are so big they end up getting damaged on the way. I need something better. I really like how this comes apart for better traveling, and the price is perfect. I can't wait until I can order it. Thanks again for the video and information.
I'm kind of disappointed. I've not flown it and I've never flown a plane, but I have plastic gear servos, aluminum tail boom, & no LED driver board. I thought the PNP kit in 2023 would have all of the upgrades for $160. I heard they upgraded the motors as well but I dont' know what size the upgraded motors are. Mine came with 1406 3150kv motors and a single set of 3.8 inch props. Otherwise it seems like a really nice plane. The foam is dense and it looks great. All of you expert plane pilots seem to love this plane.
Look great! I find even with the control rod farthest hole out on the control horn and second hole in on the servo side still makes for a very agile model.
You can sort the leds out on the pnp by adding a single ws2812b led in one of the led connectors going to the wing. That way you will give a second adress to the other so you can have different colours. I covered it in electrical tape as it will flash the same colour as one of the wings.
First time back on the channel after at least a year, as I’ve been out of the hobby. Wow you’ve aged mate! 😂 as always, sweet review 👍🏻 - not a slow flyer for FPV (which is a shame)!
Did you add any protection for the fuselage for belly landing? I mostly have to land on asphalt so I need some protection. The landing gears are pretty much useless but I was trying to find a design for some 3d printable landing skids that simply plug in where the landing gear should go.
I am flying mine with the DJI system. Lighter is better and there is limited room for a battery so too big and you'll struggle it hit CG.. Best of luck
Great video! I see you are using the DJI remote on a couple of your recent models. How do you like it as compared using DJI video with a separate radio for control?
Lee: Do you think the increased strength of the dark model is worth the weight cost over the white model? What is your all up weight with your preferred battery choice? - Jim
I heard that they'd changed it now so that the darker foam isn't heavier. I find the heavier darker foam snaps rather then bends so not sure it was a good idea. See my build video for my battery tests. Happy flying
Hey Lee, very nice and informitive video! Which one you suggest for smooth video the Ranger T1 of the F01? I cant understand the differences between these 2 models and i cant choose. Please help me! Thanks and keep up the great content
Hi Lee Could you show how you connect the FC to the balance board on the PNP version please Also does the esc servo wire plug strain to the FC Cheers Neill
Just solder the wire that would normally plug into the battery from the balance board onto the ESC connections on the flight controller and wire the rest as normal. Best of luck!
I found my throws were 15mm and had to do some tuning on inav to get it down to 10mm, however afterward a friend recommended that it’s best to get the throws correct mechanically before trying through inav, should I reset it and try it manually or just leave it as is?
Ive finally Just maidened mine after some rather hard to learn lessons... one of the wheels already snapped off on me multiple times, super glued back, but then broke rather catastrophically so ive opted for no wheels, ive noticed yours has no wheels either, were you finding them just getting in the way?
Hi, I've just built up my pnp version of t1 ranger with FC F405, DJI VISTA, BN880g and I'm planning to use a lipo 3s 1300mAh The build model has a weight of 550g. In the description of the model on the heewing site, it is written takeoff weight of 350 - 500g. In your experience, do you think that is too heavy? Can you estimate your takeoff weight?
Is there any value putting a pitot in this set up? Why are they not as common now? They used to be required for fixed wing, at least on pixhawk? Gps good enough?
There is a Y cable in the Ranger t-1 that is used for the LEDs and I used that so that one outputs controls both Ailerons. This is very typical in models - see ruclips.net/video/Vaq4Jt0XzOU/видео.html
Hi Lee! Just wondering about the PDB, I'm using the Matek F405 wing and not sure if I should just delete the PDB or not. Can you explain what you did there? I noticed that you kept yours and was wondering why. Thanks!
@@Painless360 Lol, I just realized how dumb that question was.... Anyway, thank you for the reply! I am almost completely done with my build, running crossfire and caddx vista with a pan and tilt setup! One more thing, on the f405, there's the two spots for motor one and two to plug into, but it's only signal and ground. Do I just not plug in the third power wire coming from each motor?
done building mine with maiden drama (overheated vtx.. i use cheap openvtx that became super hot few secs after arming on full power) and that caused me lost 1 of the wheels.. now i have to learn how to use auto launch.. and i already watch your auto launch video.. but with your ranger t1 did you set up auto launch like on that video? especially with idle throttle and launch throtle? i want to know.. thanks
@@Painless360 so the motor will spinns at 1500 (1000 stock) idle? Isnt it too high? and shoots 1700 (stock) when it detect the throw.. 1700 is fine? No need to raise it?
Not without the help of a stabiliser or flight controller. Something a little larger with protected props and super easy to fly is my common advice. Look at the SkyWalker, Bixler for example..
OK I'm gonna maiden mine tomorrow, finally. thanks for the VERY helpful set up tips.
That's a great little plane, although over 250g, Gotta be better than the Zohd Dark breeze, heaps of room for everything.
Nice Tips, Cheers.

Awesome flying there, Lee! 😃
Fantastic airplane! Flies so smooth!
Thanks for all the tips!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
No drama. Seems like a solid performer.
Very well timed. Mine arrived in the post yesterday. I was really hoping you would do this video. Thanks lee

Video showing this on the channel tomorrow.. Thanks for the comment.
Waiting for my ranger to come in the mail!!
Well fast but can be tamed a bit, sounds like fun . Take care.
👍🏻 Enjoy this, especially DJI fpv

I didn't as I fly on grass here. I'd have added a few layers of tape if I were landing on tarmac... Happy flying!
What camera do you have in it? So would 5000 6 be too much weight? If add wire wheels how much drag do you think it might have?
Thanks, Chris

Great video! I see you are using the DJI remote on a couple of your recent models. How do you like it as compared using DJI video with a separate radio for control?
It works great with the system but is designed for use with flight controllers only..

Howdy! I’ve just purchased this plane as I’m wanting to get into FPV with a fixed wing. Can I ask why you’re using a Li-ion battery vs LiPo?
It's to get longer flight times. See ruclips.net/video/SYwxC2wSmkg/видео.html
Do you happen to have some PIDs for iNav? Just a good starting point? :-)
Defaults are great. An Autotune will sort rates and feed forward values.. Happy flying

For smooth video I'd go with the T1. It is a lot less acrobatic and can also go a little slower too..
Like the cap, seriously nice maiden though.
I'm a chap that live in the North of England and it was bloomin' freezing! :D

Did you end up changing the throw values from 10mm? Or did you run slower rates and more expo than usual?
I didn't change much after the video actually. 10mm is the upper limit for this IMHO..
I found my throws were 15mm and had to do some tuning on inav to get it down to 10mm, however afterward a friend recommended that it’s best to get the throws correct mechanically before trying through inav, should I reset it and try it manually or just leave it as is?

I don't fly in places that work with an undercarriage so no wheels and belly landings are preferred... Happy flying

I think you should be fine. Mine here is 554g with battery. Just keep the CG at the front of the catch and you'll be great! Best of luck!
@@Painless360 Thanks for your help. Your channel is a great help to the FPV community.
If you had to pick one, would you get this or Arwing pro?
They are good for different things. See my video on my favourite 4 planes... Best of luck
What size battery would you say is best for this model ?
I use a compact Tattu 2200 4s pack in mine... Happy flying
Thoughts on this or the AtomRC Dolphin?
See my video on that comparison. It depends on what you want... ruclips.net/video/voHJ-VDGi4I/видео.html

Useful if you fly in windy conditions and want airspeed as well as groundspeed.
I'm confused how the ailerons are connected together by one servo connector...My first plane, only have setup a delta wing. How is this setup?
There is a Y cable in the Ranger t-1 that is used for the LEDs and I used that so that one outputs controls both Ailerons. This is very typical in models - see ruclips.net/video/Vaq4Jt0XzOU/видео.html
Can someone please tell me which goggles are compatible with this model!!!
It depends what FPV you put in it. Mine didn't come with any FPV installed... Happy flying
Thanks for the video. Are you using the v1 dji goggles or v2?
V1
😎👍🏻 cheers

What RC Tx are you using? Looks strange with 2 antennas.
None, using the DJI FPV Controller with the Air Unit. There is only one antenna on the model.
