Agile but quiet little FPV plane. Best suited to FC control and FPV, but still lots of fun for line of sight flying.
Flying weight with 2200mAH 3S - 530g

It's probably one of the cleanest as far as parts fit up goes. The little board in the center with the xt60 is the BEC. Such a clean plane
Mine had an xt30 but I added a xt60 connector so I can run 2 or 3s
I am using a PWM output receiver and have been having problems syncing both engines off the same output. Thanks though
@@restoredemocracy5150 mine makes the toning sound at different times but they're in sync when I start the motors. I just did the ESC calibration throttle stick high plug in the pack to the plane wait for it to do the beeping bring the throttle down.
@@RubyS.1 Thank you. I really appreciate it !
Nice one Andrew, glad you like it. I really enjoy flying mine too.
Bravo.thenks
Really nice 👍
I really like this one. Awesome stealth ship. Gotta get me one. Thanks for the vid
No problem 👍
Had mine a few weeks and love it. Great to fly in sensitive areas. O run mine on s 3s 1850, with a vista and peanut on the nose, no FC. I've got a 3d li-ion on order too. Did try it on a 4s li-ion, but it burnt there bec.
I run without a fc as well and it flies great 👍
4S burned the onboard BEC! Thanks for taking one for the team
Got 1 of them. Running on 4s LI-ION. Burst up to 40A. Easy cruise 3-5A. Room for caddx vista in the front. At the moment this is my favourite fpv plane
Are you using the provided PDB with BEC on 4S?
@@AndrewNewton I am using matek f722wpx instead. I just had to resolder 4 cables for ESCs and detach 5v cables from motor cables (otherwise it would burn the FC).
@@michalp.4975 hi. Can you share how you wire the pnp t1 to matek board?
@@michalp.4975 5v from motor plug removed because matek has its own 5/6v bec for the servo. What about the joined servo? Did you use the joined one to s3 for example? Or you split them and put each on s3 and s4 ?
@@DNLKRNWN I left motors joined and ailerons joined. 5v cable from motor servo cable is removed indeed.
try to put a 3s Li-Ion into it- I use 3x21700 in it and flies for ages :) Keep her save, Andrew! Greets from Europe
How much flight time do you have? I'm about to buy one and I have a 3s 21700 battery.😂
14:23... Andrew Newton.... A man out standing in his field... ;-)
Haha, dodging kangaroo droppings and looking out for snakes.
Nice flight demonstration Andrew! That's a fast and agile twin motor plane. Looks like much fun ;-) See you in the Air!
Thanks, next up is the little DW J3 Cub
@@AndrewNewton Oh, you'll like that little Sub-100g Plane ;-)
Nice review Andrew. Seems you're enjoying the T1 and might additional plans. Looks like you have PNP edition.
I got the KIT edition, but found out it lacks the electrical quick disconnect wing connectors. The wings do wings physical clip to fuselage. A bit of disappointment, but HeeWing does offer all parts as replacements for purchase independently via their website (so no real issue). The LEDs in PNP vs KIT edition also differ. In KIT, they just LEDs, but with PNP there is a programable LED driver board. For the T1 Ranger the difference between PNP and KIT is more substantial than typical RC KITs, DYI install of servos and motors.
Thanks for that. Good information
🔥💕👍
Thx mate! I purchased and built the kit version but dont recommend it. It just took forever to get it correctly built. The pnp version would save so much time and headache. Live and learn eh? Great review as usual.
Thanks, yes too many fiddly little bit I would imagine.
You're making us feel like the poor relations with only the Eachine Flying Fish and our Kmart gliders modded to twins, Andrew! 😜
Was looking at this neat little plane but can't justify the cost for our style of flying. 🙂
I’m in the same boat as you, and importantly it seems that it maybe prone to tip stalling a bit too easily
Have you ever flown out to that Island?
Andrew:
Nice job trying different battery combinations. Are you going to try it as a VTOL?
I'd love to see your observations & tips in that configuration.
Jealous of your beautiful flying site!
Jim
I have not considered VTOL but it would be interesting. Maybe a winter project.
It would definitely benefit from a FC or giro....I mean, it looked pretty calm...🤔😀🇬🇧
A rare low wind day here.
I'm going to do some testing today. Apparently I've added the first rudder to a T1 😎🤙
Let us know how you get on
@@Crunklefloop definitely a recommended addition. Working on the video now
Sweet. Please share the results
In my opinion, the tail is the only flaw of this plane. Securing it with the 2 screws becomes a bit wobbly after 50 flights or so. I decided to glue my elevator/ vertical stabilizer to the tail boom
Good to know thanks. Mine has only had about 4 flights
Besides RC, one of my other Hobbies is surfing. What break are your flying near?
Waipinga is the closest recognised surf spot.
@@AndrewNewton Well I think that reef near the bluff where you are flying has potential. Recognised or not.
Have you given your Taranis the flick mate..
What's the favourite now.?
Little Zorro for the moment, but I could swap back to the QX7 at any time.
What camera size?
Fit Nano or Mini Cam in there?
Nano, the little cube shape
I am debating between this and the Finwing Xbird for long range FPV where stability is is more important than range.
6 months later which one are you still flying and which one is more stable and which one is more efficient.
Thank you!
I'm still flying the X-Bird. Neither of them are very stable but the X-Bird has way more battery space
@@AndrewNewton thank you !
If you want stable go full traditional and get a skysurfer x8 or a Atomrc Seal
@@blackterminal I’d love to but I fly in an urban area and rather use planes with no more than 800mm wingspan.
@@blackterminaldamn agree with you, i still used it up until now
Still flying good with apm mini 😂😂
What FPV camera and VTX(non-DJI) would you recommend for this plane?
My usual analog gear is Runcam Phoenix 2 and Eachine TL5828L VTx
@@AndrewNewton The left wing servo on mine only turns one direction (I am running a completely stock setup). Is there a way to fix this or do I need to buy a new servo?
@@tiankuohua5167 replace the servo
@@dronepilot260rc or turn in one direction
This small hd camera = runcam?
Runcam thumb
how did you wire the ESC's for the twin engine ?
Comes with a power distribution board, just have to plug it all in
@@AndrewNewton possibly with the premade but I got the kit and am using a PWM receiver to power it
Ok. I would use a Y cable to power both escs and either a y cable for esc signals or separate channels for diff thrust. Remove one red 5v wire so you don't have two 5v supplies to the receiver
@@AndrewNewton Thanks...the trick was elimination of 1 5v cable. Thank you so much
@@restoredemocracy5150 Great to hear that worked
TIP: Don't use a LiPo 2200 3S. Instead, buy 3 x Efest 18650 3maH 20amp batteries and make your own 3 cell pack. This will cut the weight down by close to half (35%), free up some space and extend the flight time to 20 minutes.
Yes, 18650 would be ideal
the servos are no good replace mine as 1st flight striped out.
I put 3d printed servo protectors on mine
Can this plane handle 4s lion 3000mah?
Yes, easy fit. But makes it quite heavy for a small plane
I am thinking to either put 4s battery with same props setup as default, or 2s battery with larger prop i.e. 5 inch props to get more power and longer flight time.
This plane does better with Lion 21700 3 cells
Do they fit? Need to cut out some foam?
@@AndrewNewton they fit
