All engines have a favorite place to stop when they are shut off. Sometimes they have an equally favorite or second favorite place. The starter kicks into the same place on the gear, over and over. You can heat up the gear, remove it, rotate it 90 degrees and put it back on and your good for another 50 years. The most leverage you can have when trying to turn an engine is from the flywheel teeth to the clutch housing with a pry bar.

289, 302, 351, 312. Lots of options
Fords just aren't as user friendly. They're hard to find around here and expensive!
12v cummins and do your own take on Westen's "Fummins"
@@MortskeRepair yeah but y-block tho
Cool old truck my brother's first truck was 53 Ford had a 312 in it. At least this one even though it's missing the upper radiator hose the lower hose isn't a flexy hose lol
It's against the law to be from MN and to put a LS in a FORD. Nope, nada, no good!
Good thing I'm not from MN! Haha
You put any damn engine you want in it .Putting a ford in a ford is for model car builders.
Nice looking ‘53. I had a ‘54 in about that shape in 1981. Fun project!
Where is Duff we need more Duff in the video's the guy is always making small appearances and then sneaking off we need more Duff ;)
Man, so much potential in what looks like a sold body and frame. Sure hope you make a V8 project out of my all time favorite truck. Thanks.
That's the plan!
Sweet Ford you have there, "just a little" bit of work here... my kind of car. Appreciate the mention, coming from you means a lot.
Any time!
Having rebuilt thousands of ford clutches just like that, I'm surprised that the clutch wasn't stuck solid. They sure like to do that.
300 w/turbo. Done it and its good. I've got 3 of em here, come and get one. If you want something different, put a 6v71 in it. I'd love anything ford though, 385 series, flathead, whatever.
Truck looks good, has a nice stance... my eyes bugged out when you showed the cracked crank you schmucked up! Lol... IDK, my Aunt and Uncle had a 56 with a 351 in it and some luxurious bench set from a 70's Lincoln or something... I say do that!
Sounds like a real gem!
@@MortskeRepair Yeah, it was a 70's build I helped him test and tune a little in the 90's. Flat Black and some orange on it and extra plush velour, 3 spoke steering wheel, etc... I always thought the front wheels were TINY in the opening
@@MortskeRepair Crazy Uncle had a cool collection! Basically all with just 1 or 2 things broken so they wouldn't drive! The 56 Ford F-100, a Karman Ghia, 50's Oval Beetle, 50's Harley, 27 T-Bucket with magneto and blower and slicks, 69 Stingray with hood & side pipes and luggage rack, 60's Jag XKE, 74 Jag XJ whatever, Porche 356 Boxter with dual Webers, and a shiny new 93' Miata! I stayed there a couple months after a break up when I had that FireBird I couldn't get legal so I bought an 86 Accord LX-I hatchback from his secretary and it got stolen after work like my first night there so I was driving the cammed out loud ass Firebird illegal a few weeks till it came back! IT was setting off alarms in the parking garage before and after work at a major casino everynight!
These teeth were beyond use at this point.
Y block would be a good choice to drop in that truck. Im swapping a 292 Y in my 58 f100. Hope to see more of this truck.
