Thanks so much, Capt Caleb, this is hands down the best instructional video on throwing a Corky/Fat Boy I've ever seen, even though you say "there's no (standard) right way or wrong way to throw a Corky", this demo of an excellent and fruitful retrieve for starters and practice in warm season mode until I get the hang of this one. Can't wait to feel the solid thump. I have caught several trout on regular Corkies but put them aside not trusting my retrieve at the time with confidence. Both lures have that coldwater slow reputation established years ago, to fish it slower than Christmas, "throw it out, take a sip of a Coke, twitch it, and if the lure gets back to you before you finished the Coke, you're fishing it too fast." nonsense. I understand slowing it way down in colder water temps, but this video helps shake that dogma for warmer water.
I also appreciate it. Its a highly guarded secret with most anglers. But once you start holding back knowledge and trying to intentionally hide tricks from others, that is when you are no longer challenging yourself to improve.
Thanks Paul, and Caleb I’m so glad I found you. I’m 66 years young and don’t have a lot of time to learn the Galveston bay system on my own and even though you’re in Matagorda the techniques apply. Thanks.
Thank you for introducing me to the fatboy corky....the next time I went out fishing I used it ..for the first time....and came home with a 27 1/2 in red..thank you sooo much
Thanks Paul. I fish Aransas Pass. Lots of grass. Since it comes with trebles and it's subsurface, I generally can't throw it much because I'm constantly fouling in the grass. Recently I put 2/0 Owner replacement hooks for topwaters on several of them and I think that will make a big difference in cutting through the grass. I'll definitely fish it more like a topwater now. Thank you.
Made it to the end Capt. Caleb! A few buddies and I are fishing the Baffin Bay complex in the morning, and you can bet a corky is going to be tied onto the end of my leader line. Tight Lines bud, these informational vids are spot on!
Thanks, my boss just gave me a few corkies and ive been wanting to try them, i just didnt know where to start of how to work them. This video cleared up a lot of questions i had
Thanks Paul and yes buddy jumping that run typically does help because when I was first fish and cookies I would do that right tip up action and Miss lots and lots of fish
I had to get in a good bite, put a corky on, and use it to catch fish to build my confidence in it. It’s hard to leave something on when it’s new to you! Been there!
Good video, my best trout on Fat Boy's has been when I stop focusing on what I am doing and start looking around , usually in a kayak and bam you get the thump and I know that she's big , head shake, weight and it's on !
Thanks Paul! Thank you Capt for the video. I've thrown corkies a handful of times over the years, but never had much confidence. That's probably the reason my PB speck is still under 25". Needless to say all my corkys are about to get the oily stuff wiped off and I'm going to start tying them on more often. I've always been a redfish guy, but I'm really wanting to up my game in the trout dept. You're making some great content. You'll be sitting here with 100k subs sooner than later.
Thanks Paul for making a killer bait! I’ve know about these for a while but not really how to fish them. Will be going this weekend, hopefully they’ll pull me a big trout!
Thanks Paul, and thanks que capt caleb. Hands down the best tutorial and informative videos. I learn something new every time I watch one of your videos. Always room to learn more. Thanks again
Thanks. Nothing is worse than having a new toy and not knowing how to use it. Your tutorial could not have been any clearer. Looking forward to more learning time together!!!!
I was at carbodys in san luis pass fishing and i was using corky broken tail no luck. Went to fatboy nothing. Changed to mini dine bone color with yellow down it back 3 diffrent baitfish keep following it. Man i got 3 good size trout and a rat red. this happened after i bent the back down on it. Have a good one.
Thanks Paul! Capt, thanks for the good videos. The wife is starting to chunk lures and I guess it sounds like I speak French when I try to explain how to work em, your videos help her understand a lot and I’m picking up a lot of new stuff too. Thanks man!
Thanks Paul... oddly enough the first fish I ever caught on a fat boy was a 32 pound black drum! But I had no clue about bending the lure so this vid will be a huge help and hopefully help get my first monster trout !
Getting better! I would like to see fishing target areas. Perhaps a map of a known or unknown area and show what specific reasons or seasons, wind direction and speed, that you choose to fish. Maybe even a boat search and looking for signs or areas of interest due to either structure, bait, etc.
@@CaptCalebTV I like where it's going though. The creativity is great. Yost only just takes us to 2 of 4 spots, so it would be nice to find my own spots, or anywhere other than poc. :-)
Thanks Paul . I fish a few deep pits that hold big wintertime trout . I am going to fish nothing but Corkys , and mirrodines this winter in an attempt to learn how to fish them in deep water.

I have NO idea why RUclips flagged this comment! I just saw it today. Thanks so much for your contribution!

Thanks Paul! Had a heck of a day on the water... Slow bite and no one catching keepers. Pulled out my Corky for the win!
Thanks!

Made it and thanks Paul. I’ll give corkys hard baits and top waters another try. I’ve only caught fish on plastics.
I had to get in a good bite, put a corky on, and use it to catch fish to build my confidence in it. It’s hard to leave something on when it’s new to you! Been there!
Thanks Paul. Great video Caleb. I just shared it with my friend in Needville who just bought a few Corkies.

Yes sir. I’m working on how to record me
Marking up an area while obtaining good audio at the same time.
@@CaptCalebTV I like where it's going though. The creativity is great. Yost only just takes us to 2 of 4 spots, so it would be nice to find my own spots, or anywhere other than poc. :-)
David Patterson lets do a full review on how I would fish his spots!
Thanks Paul. I use your lures frequently!
Thanks Paul!
Great video capt. Caleb

Great Job Capt. Caleb! Keep doing what you do! awesome videos!
Thanks Paul . I fish a few deep pits that hold big wintertime trout . I am going to fish nothing but Corkys , and mirrodines this winter in an attempt to learn how to fish them in deep water.
Add some weight to em
@@CaptCalebTV To the actual lure ? like insert weights?
You can put a finishing nail in the nose of it, or wrap some silver solder above the split rings of each hook to help it sink faster.
Thanks Paul! Will be picking up a couple
Awesome video so the Paul brown Corky you can use it like a top water lure
You can. Especially the floating model.
Thanks Paul and thanks Caleb. I always learn something when I listen to your videos. Keep up the great work!
Thanks paul!! Great bait , and great video capt.
Nice work Caleb, thanks Paul 🤙
Thanks for the tutorial!
