And he always managed NOT to swear, or sneer, or do self-indulgent put-downs of those around him. A true comedian - unlike so many of those fourth-rate would-be's around today.
Did you know in 1961, he won the Grammy for Best album. Not best comedy album (well, he won that too) but best album of the year. He beat out Frank Sinatra for crying out loud.
@@Sandyg1961 I didn't know that. Thank you for telling me and naturally I think he deserves it! I had the album and played it all the time. How many comedy routines can withstand that kind of repetition?
When I heard he passed away, this routine was the first to come to my mind. Thank-you, You Tube for making things like this available. His dry sense of humor was hilarious! Thank-you, Bob, for the memories!
Checked to see how old he was in this clip, if it is 1992 as advertised then he was 63 (born in 1929), mad thing is that he is still alive (in 2023), he is 94!
He pioneered Album Comedy then starred in two completely different long running TV Comedy series followed by a recurring role on The Big Bang Theory. A lifetime of TV comedy.
She was not a boat to be ignored....unless you really had a desire to swim with the sharks! The USS Cod is credited with sinking more than 12 enemy vessels totaling more than 37,000 tons, and damaging another 36,000 tons of enemy shipping.
Very sad news about the great Bob. This is a classic although he leaves out a great line from another recording of this I've heard; "regarding the firing on Miami beach, it happened on what news men call a slow news day so I think it got more publicity than it deserved..after all it was the off-season down there..."
Reminds of the American submarine who did an emergency blow off Honolulu harbor, to thrill foreign VIPs onboard. Came up under a Japanese training ship, sinking same, killing many Japanese trainees....

R.I.P. Mr Newhart. And thank you for all the laughs!
Hard to believe Bob is 94 years old. One of the best comedians of all times.
He was incredible. A master of dry comedy and having impeccable timing in his delivery. I wish we were blessed with more like Bob Newhart!
And he always managed NOT to swear, or sneer, or do self-indulgent put-downs of those around him. A true comedian - unlike so many of those fourth-rate would-be's around today.
Newhart's comic timing is Superb!
Classic! Thank you so much for your comments ❤️
Bob Newhart is a gem!
i miss Bob so much. intelligent humor without filthy words
Funny long thought out bits! One of the greats!
He's the best ever--I've enjoyed his routines for many decades and no matter how often I hear him, I laugh. Bob Newhart is special!

Having served in submarines [Royal Navy] for 11 years, you wouldn't be laughing at this if you knew just how true it was! 🤣🤣🤣
A genius and even during the pandemic he kept us laughing through video interviews.
Spent 20 years in the USN Ada submariner. This is truly funny for so many reasons!

RIP, Bob. Always genuine.
He was a brilliant comedian and actor.
That title in the thumbnail sealed it for me. "Let bygones be bygones" is one of the funniest lines ever said.
Yep. RIP Bob Newhart. I just laughed so hard at this routine.
This... is what a legend looks like.

He looks close to the end now.. once the eye and face are sunken in, it's about time.
He sadly passed away today😢😢😢
He completed his journey in this life.

Bob Newhart is comfort food. He only makes me laugh.
Great art, because it seems effortless. But, he is genius.
This slayed me because I was on the USS Bremerton and I’ll be damned if the cooks didn’t get a standing ovation before *everyone else* 😝
Nobody better at low key comedy.
Bob Newhart is the best. A true ❤gem.
Thank you Mr. Newhart! The master of the soft, powerful and humble!
A sample of Bob Newhart distinctive comedy.

I rhink of bob newhart lately when I watch Deadwood.

Super funny!
There is a USS Cod now a national landmark in my home town of Cleveland Ohio!
Been there many times, always an interesting visit!

The Peter Principle now also applies to US politics.
You don’t get promoted in politics. Just saying.
Except politicians aren’t promoted. They’re elected. No one to blame but the folks that voted for them.
@MrRufusRToyota But what you are saying, is incorrect. All levels of politics have promotion to higher levels.
Amen to that😂
this is one highly intelligent comedy
In Cleveland Ohio there is a submarine
the USS Cod.
HMAS Melbourne holds the peace time tonnage record.

REST IN PEACE 🙏
He was a class act
Still is - he's not dead!
RIP Professor Proton
A submarine is not called a "ship", it is called a boat. The only time you can say "boat" for a vessel in the Navy.
Interesting. We had PT boats, but they were pretty big (70 or 100 ft?), perhaps smaller than minesweepers, though.
@@SRHMusic012 - Yeah, and THOSE! I forgot about 'em.
And PBR's.
In WW II movies, subs always referred to as boats.
Any vessel under 100 feet in length is called a boat. The exception is the submarine which is always called a boat.
Reminds of the American submarine who did an emergency blow off Honolulu harbor, to thrill foreign VIPs onboard. Came up under a Japanese training ship, sinking same, killing many Japanese trainees....
That was the Ehime Maru (Ship Princess) in 2001. Yeah they killed high school students, teachers and crew. Not the finest hour of the US Navy.
@@palorius The sub skipper wanted to go to each family and apologize, but the Navy made him wait until he was a civilian....
RIP Bob Newhart. You and Emily are reunited in Heaven
OMG 😂😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤
He changed it somewhat and his delivery was different. like the bit that he forgot the hatch. it was also shorter. interesting. :)
He was part of the fabric of America for so long...
Was this recorded before or after the sub USS Greeneville rammed and sank a Japanese fishing vessel off Hawaii in 2001?
Long before.
🥰🥰💗💗😍😍
Timeless...
Comic genius 😅 Via con Dios Bob 😊 tickle His ribs 😂😊
Submarines are NOT called ships! They are called boats!!!!!!!!
True comedy, unlike what you here today from so-called “comedians”.
We’re glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching!
If my father in law didn't cut his hair, he pulled his teeth!
Looking back on this mutiny. Lol
his delivery is always low key, subtle, and a bit scattered. I never weary of these routines...
Good, but not his best. RIP, Bob. 😇
