You sure do have a lot of stuff. All of Hiwatt’s amps are Perfect. I’ve had this amp before and it’s amazing. Right now I have the crunch 50. It’s a solid state amplifier. It’s simply amazing. You can’t go wrong with any of their stuff.
haha , you're not wrong. sort of comes with the job here - lots of stuff comes in for demo work. and totally agree - Hiwatt took me by surprise after playing this one. I recently picked up a 20 watt head that is one of the best amps I've ever owned. solid amps with a cool heritage for sure.
@@AmbientEndeavors I’m telling you check out their solid state line. They’re really an expensive and they’re really great. I think it’s the transformers that they use. But I use tube amps almost exclusively. But I wanted a nice solid state amp so I went with the Hiwatt. It’s probably the best solid-state amplifier I’ve ever played in my life. Nice chatting with you
I’ll have to put them side by side sometime! Yeah the Hiwatt has more high end presence/brilliance for sure. This was with treble just shy of noon too!
I believe it! Those "big boy" Hiwatts seem magical. I liked this one so much and envisioned running my live rig through a Hiwatt so I'm jumping on one of the new 20W models that should be coming in Jan - very excited! Was tempted by the DR504 but man I don't think my ears can handle that much power ha.
@AmbientEndeavors It was a really warm but chimed too, kind of clean Vox sound but on steroids with volume to spare. Sadly sold it when I started doing more studio and less live. Regret it 😅 Seems like these new models have captured that perfectly though! You might be interested to know my friend used a custom 50 PA head as an amp too. They're so rare these days but it was pretty much the same as the 100 but with loads of channels. Those days were cool!
Thanks for this demo… No one else seem to be doing the Combo amp. They’re all doing the head into a one by 12 or 2 x 12 cab which is obviously going to sound different
Only $350 for the head version? That's a steal these days. I have a CDR and an or15 but both of those are a bit loud some times. I might have to pick this up someday if I can find one to try out.
yeah really reasonable! It has some nice tones at manageable volumes. This clip was recorded at around 8-9 on the volume and still palatable in the basement here.
Hey thanks for watching! That's the OHMA Ribbon mic , with their Stripes screen. Really cool handmade mics out of LA in some fantastic colors/designs :)
fun fact: I was expecting them to send the head and was surprised when this arrived! but it's quite a fun little super-portable combo. This was with volume at like 8 and it was still manageable in the basement here.
Don't buy equipment from a company that does not provide service manual or schematic for their products and do not reply to emails Hiwatt is a example of one such company Dave Reeves would not be happy with that and owners of a licensed product are not either.
@@AmbientEndeavors Yeah i have a T10 head that blew the contacts of the board off and burnt components. The T10 was the model before the Hi 5 it can go 5w or 19w or bang and never work again 🤣 I trusted the company when i bought it the thing blew up and i just put it away as i can repair it but when i opened it a year later and realized the company don't give service manuals or reply to emails. They don't even make the amps they get a designer in china to make one then mass produce them. So any information they don't even know

Sounds absolutely lovely. I would curious to hear an A/B test vs the Morgan Five. Both should lovely, but this may seem to have a bit more top end.

BEST setup i ever had was a custom 100 head and orange 4x12. Wish id never sold it.
They take pedals so well and clean always loads of headroom.

for sure! glad it was helpful. thanks for watching !
Bro you just sold me on this, now I just need to find a head! Thanks 🙏🏽
hahah you're welcome 🫡
Do you have a band or solo project? I can listen to this all day… thanks for these amazing sounds.
Yes! Lots of original music under Ambient Endeavors on all the streaming platforms :)

Amazing! Btw what mic is that? Looks so cool!

I really want the head version of this. Hiwatts might be the best pedal platform amps. Fenders are kind of overrated to me. I do like them though ha

I use the red Hi-5 head with a 2x12 Celestion G12H and an Alnico blue cab. Great sound and it does amazingly well with a full band live.
@@deanvandyke6445the Hi -5 is still loud enough in a live band setting?
@@Redhotchilipprs just played a gig last weekend. No mics, just cranked. It can hang.
Nothing wrong with that. At all. 😊
Agreed, it was sounding jussstt fine to me as well.

man. sounds like you've had some issues. with this particular amp or others?
