One thing is for sure. Being a pedalboard amp sim no longer means to really compromise. The quality of options now is outstanding. I personally view the amp sim category as probably the most exciting to be in right now.
without a doubt. in 2024, there really isn't a whole lot of innovation in the guitar world anymore, but amp sims are definitely in an exciting place rn, and I think in a few years people will really start to take advantage of them in ways we haven't seen yet.
I bought the Lion 68 Super Lead and love it. I was eying the Fender one that they make, but now I am leaning towards this one. The App isn't that great, has trouble connecting sometimes, I have to remove it from blue tooth and then it finds it again. This is way better than some of the modeler pedals and digital amps for sure. They actually have good sustain.
Very tasteful playing and good tones. I have a 99.5% Strymon board that has a Sunset and an Iridium in the chain. The UA Knuckles and this Enigmatic ‘82 are interesting enough to me that they’re on my list for next pedals, even though I have no room on my current board. I love my Boogie Mk5 35 combo, but the amp modeling pedals at the top of the current market are phenomenal at what they do!
Sounds great. I have the Dream 65 and love it. I feel like this one will be a little be redundant since I cant get similar sound with the Dream. But is has a little something different that makes me want it... damn! Good video thank you!
same boat, but actually if you have a selection of some high quality drives you can achieve similar tones with the dream. the big deal if you dont have all of this you just need the new unit + reverb/delay and you might be done. however not able to control gain stack mid song could limit you. so once again, you are not really missing anything if you have the dream + pedals.
thanks for watching! I love my Dream too; generally use it quite clean. I think the Enigmatic excels in those saturated tones; never really like the Dream (or many BF Fenders in general) when they break up.
@@AmbientEndeavors I think this Enigmatic is more "powerful" that all the other unit though. Just because of the app... You can tweak it and achieve some serious tone there.
Question : Do the presets include reverb (Not on this pedal) Are you using the strymon during the control amp section awards the end? Could I use the dream 65 replacing the Strymon// or the Golden in front for reverb? Great pedal these are the tones clean guitarist think about..
Gorgeous sounds, but dayum, coulda used a noise gate. It'd maybe go unnoticed in a mix or on a loud stage. I can quibble with some design decisions, but there's no arguing with those heavenly harmonics.
You've seem to have done a good job taming that high end. Other demos I've heard the top end is so poky. Similar thing that I've experienced using Tonex captures of their Dumble. But because it's a capture you can't really dial that top end out.
Tim Pierce recently posted a video playing a Dumble amp that Carlos Santana used to own.. The thing sounded like it was alive.. I mean the sound was incredible ! I don't think a pedal can duplicate what I heard .. It might capture one aspect of what some Dumble amps sound like but there's a load of intangible stuff that you can't put your finger on that the Dumble amp that Tim Pierce demoed that was like the thing almost played itself .. It was different !!! 😝
for sure. I mean, I think in general - and specifically for an amp like a Dumble - there's so much of the magic that comes from real tubes/physical iron/speaker moving air/etc. that's still near impossible to bottle, but there are definitely some qualities I associate with the "Dumble sound" that this thing boasts, and the way you can gain stage into different levels of saturation is pretty cool. I also personally think it's ok to just arrive at "this sounds great!" instead of "this sound EXACTLY like xyz amp" when it comes to modeling and digital gear
@@AmbientEndeavors To be honest I have an Ethos pedal by Custom Tones and The Dude by J Rockett pedals that I like more than what I’m hearing on this demo ..The Burn Unit by Barber Electronics captures some of the compression associated with th Dumble tone.. I just remembered that the Van Weelden Royal Overdrive is the closest I’ve ever heard a pedal get to sounding like a Dumble amp but you can’t find one anywhere.. the irony though is no two Dumble amps are the same 😝 !
would be cool. they're pretty committed to the form here in the near term it seems; would be interesting to see how they implement something like a multi-effects
@@dylanparker6992 Yep, if only that wasn't true. I have mixed feelings about UA. On the one hand their products are pretty amazing and on the other I can't help but feel that I'm being ripped off.
Really nice demo, and an accurate description✨ Would’ve wished the flint Would’ve been after to avoid destortion of the reverb trails, felt a bit annoying. But nicely done 🎉
I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with UA pedals (one-year warranty, unreliable Bluetooth, some basic missing features, kinda overpriced in a world where things like small ToneX and IR-2 exist) but... I'd be lying if this didn't seem a lot more compelling than another AI capture box. If not for the fact that I'm happy with my Lion, I'd consider this. Also, the fact, that Lion curbs my GAS for more amp sims, is probably a good endorsement of it.
Yeah, I hear all of that. I think there were a couple of definite misses (namely midi and perhaps some IR loading capabilities) that are dings against the UA stuff; and still I've found myself quite content with many of the amps in this line. They just *work* for me, and I do appreciate all that you can do/control on the face of the pedal without much hassle at all.
I think everyone who owns these pedals would agree with you. I love the Dream 65 but the Lion is something else. It's a superb and really flexible pedal. This is a nice pedal: I've got some great tones from it but the Lion is their pinnacle IMO.
I've not had the "disaster" experience , but know there are some quirks and temperamentally to the bluetooth. Some have said it is improved with updates. I'm candidly mostly a "turn the knobs on the pedal" type user.
you could try! prob sounds cool ; a lot of the old fender circuits take bass pretty well although I think there would be better options suited for bass if that's all you're running through it.
Great pedal...again. BUT instead of creating always new pedals, and especially with this one where you can tweak soooo much in the app, UAFX should concentrate on their bluetooth application. Because this still is unadequate to the level of their pedals. Lots of people sell these because of this weak and crappy bluetooth connection. UAFX wake up!!Just saying. ;-)
No they didn't. They just said it required more tinkering. What do you expect when they try to simulate not just one amp like their other models, but 4 different dumbles?
That's incredible that you've played so many Dumble amps that you know immediately when something doesn't sound like one. How did you acquire such experience?

Won't really go near UAFX because their app is so buggy and quality control issues of pedals being bricked during firmware updates.
Have had UA pedals for years, never bother with the app and have never had issues with updates or something breaking.
