Inspired by Kelly’s dog Action, and created with feedback from Kelly Slater after modifying countless pads using razor blades during surf trips, the Action Pad is our new five piece arch pad, made using BLOOM Foam.
The conversation above was captured at Surf Ranch between Kelly and Dan Mann, as Kelly shows Dan more than just the way he modifies his personal traction pads. He also shows dan his 'ritual' for applying traction pads to surfboards.
"Everyone's got a board ritual." He says, "Mine is the way I put my pad on."

Board rituals. I lightly wax my rails where I grip to duck dive. I'm missing too many fingers. Grip is important. Damn honu's (turtles) keep trying to eat my Slater algae pad.
I'll get that new Slater pad for my next new board. The Hydronaut as a step up for big winter waves. I've always modified my tail pads too.
I need one that helps me pop up quicker.

He did. :) check the link beneath the video in the description. You'll see it. We created a pad based off the modifying / sculpting he was doing to the pads he was riding.

kelly always had flat pad. from the days he had the komunity pads.
