I dunno for sure who started wing's, but I read in the surf mags around 30+ yes ago - Terry Fitzgerald was the man who started wing's.
Yes, they do act like a pivot point, and they seen to loosen up a board more.

Akila is constantly developing new ideas. Right now there is no FE 2.0 planned, but possibly someday. The 'Flat Earth' is still considered final in its current version.

The board is super sick you just have to get used to turning from the rail vs the fins which in the long term makes you a better 🏄♀️
