My neighbor drove her new truck in her garage and promptly ripped off the shark fin thingy....TEARS!

Thanks for the video! I have a Gen 2 EcoDiesel and we'll probably someday upgrade to a gen 3 depending on how their reliability is. So I'll be watching your channel pretty closely in the next while.
My fumoto valve for my Gen 2 is that same part number. I imagine it would be the same for gen 3s.

I have a gen2 Ecodiesel. Everything was really good until the oil got overfilled on 2 oil changes. The excess went into the PCV. The first time it happened, I had to drain a quart to get the correct level. The second time, I had to drain 2 quarts. I had to drive 360 miles one way. The same day as the oil change. Then about 200 miles into the trip I started getting codes.
I now 156,000 miles on my 2016. I have been considering the great deals on the deals on the new "Classics." But really like the extra 500-800lb payload of the new model. And the improved cooling of the relocated intercooler.
My wife has a 2018 Ram 2500 Crewcab with the Cummins. That truck is s beast! Excessive power! Rough ride. It does get 23mpg or more at 70mph. Funny thing is though. My daughter and son-in-law have a 2018 Ram 3500 Megacab, with the Cummins. That truck rides better than my wife's 2500.
When it comes to snowy and icy roads. The Ecodiesel is the best! I have 4wd, no LSD's. I did switch to a Flowmaster 50 series HD muffler and the Bank's intake system. The off idle throttle response is excellent! I switch from 17" tire to 20x9's with 275/60-20 tires. I did the Bilstein 5100 shocks set at 2" lift and Readylift upper control arms. On the back I added the ICON 1.5 inch lift springs and the 2.0 0-3 lift shocks. The 3.92 ratio handles the 33" tires very well. I will probably go with 315/70-17 tires, which are 34" tall.
If I buy the 3rd gen. I will probably go with AEV 4" lift, and 35's. And have the dealer change the gears to 4.56.

Diesel filters on line. Mopar oil filters for the 2020 eco diesel are 43 bucks, and in stock. Don’t put up with dealer crap, do it yourself and you save thousands.

I think what is often missed is, that the more expensive filters and oil are having, what we call in Europe for Turbodiesels "longlife"character. Actually the oil give you up to twice the recommended standard maintenance mileage. This is why the onboard computer should give you change recommendation only after 20k miles. It is usual in Europe to have intervals of 25k even. For high commuters it is a real relieve making the money worth less shop stops. It seems just that US communication is bad on it for the increase of profit reason. So, yes you can pay half, but then only get half milage and double shop stops.

I have a 2020 ram gen-3 ecodiesel. I've gone down the same road as you for looking up spec's and parts availability. Shell Rotella T-6 is an approved oil for the gen-3 ED. The oil filters have been redesigned/engineered and now come with the top half of the canister attached to the filter & I imagine that's part of the additional cost. I found the same thing you did when I tried ordering one from diesel filters on line. I told them to just put my order in back ordered status and ship it when they get them. I'm now thinking that due to our current situation the dealerships may be the only source for oil filters & that's only before they run out of them. FYI: The fuel filter is also different from the gen-2 ECO's & I haven't been able to find a source for them at this point either.

My garage door opening is shorter than normal. The person that owned the house before me is real short. I did check the garage before we ordered the truck to make sure it fit, it just does fit when the heigh set to aero

Get the filter and go to a big truck diesel shop. See if they have or can get a filter that matches. You'll have a shot at finding something. Also rotella is a great oil. That's all we ever used in our trucks. I have over a million miles and my dad has over 3 million miles. Idk if you plan on using your truck (tow, haul, etc) hard, but don't forget about doing the rear, trans, and transfer case. Fiat had a good motor, but when they were forced to put the emissions crap on it wasn't designed for that. This new one, they gave the motor to dodge and said build it, try and salvage some stuff out of the old one to keep the cost down a little. They kept the block and a few other small things but this is 80% new. Unless obama comes back and bitches about emissions I don't see this one having any issues. Nice truck

Even with $13k off MSRP, no wonder they can't sell these Eco Diesels in my neck of the woods! Plenty of 2019's left and none are moving! Now I see why.

That why I prepaid for the oil change for the next 6 year. Cut the price in half.

    QUESTION:
so does the diesel 1500 not come with the standard maintenance plan where you get like 3 yrs or 50K miles of routine oils changed and tire rotations free?
just asking bc i definitely don't want to get diesel if it costs me 250 every oil change. but if a new 1500 comes with that free oil change plan for 3 years or whatever i might just lease it.

My 2016 came with one year (2 changes) but my 2020 did not come with any. I dang near had a heart attack when I had to pay for my first oil change on the 16 and the 20 is even worse.

The reason for euro oil is to protect the DPF. I was surprised to hear that Ram switched to Rotella. Rotella is not a small diesel DPF compliant oil. Big rigs yes. Small diesels use a much stricter emissions regulation. And have a very sensitive DPF. The ash levels in Rotella is to high and doesn’t meet euro emissions specs.
That’s the reason Ram is switching back to euro spec emissions systems safe oil. All the main manufacturers of oil now produce a euro spec emissions safe oil. You have lots to choose from. I use Amsoil.
Be for warned, none of them are low cost. They are all expensive.........

They've got to be out if their freaking minds! $200+ USD for an oil change!?!?!? For that price, they better have hookers ready to service YOU, while you wait for the mechanic to service the truck!
I could understand if you only has to do an oil change every 50 miles. Sure, that would make it worth coughing up that kind of dough, but this is ridiculous!
Yeah! I'd do my own oil changes too; and I'd document everything on video, each time that I changed the oil. Fiat isn't doing themselves any favours by mistreating North American customers like this. They better wise up, or they could lose out, big time. People won't flock to by a Fiat if they kill Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep. Instead, they'll go out of their way to avoid Fiat products.
