    Fun fact, there are some GM IIIs that were GM IIs, and before that OG GMs. It's funny how some of those units have been in service for 9 years, and would be in main service up until char's counter attack. There are also some GM IIIs that were in the F91/Crossbone Era, upgraded units and I'm not sure if those particular units were OG GMs upgraded to GM IIIs, but still.

      if its like modern military procurement, they probably were not original OYW gm chasis by the time of the Crossbone Vanguard. The main improvement between the GM 2 and 3 models were the armor and thrusters as well as add-on equipment, however the actual frame and geometry remained the same, whilst the improvement between the GM and GM 2 was the inclusion of improved optics, reactor improvements, and electronic system reinforcement. The GM 3 was effectively a true mass produced RX 78 with the mobility of the MK 2.

      No matter how "real" real robot genre is, Gundam is a sci-fi fiction; an outsider's view on military hardware. It's not that big a deal if the GMs are still in use after a decade, especially if it's to highlight how lazy or badly-equipped Earth Federation is toward new threats. Other instances are for pure fanservice, like the "mobile suit museum" in Unicorn Gundam, and how a Zaku II of all thing is still competitive in Crossbone Gundam: Ghost (the protagonist climbs into it while visiting a museum, fends off bad guys with it, and keeps using it until he gets a Gundam).
      If anything, I applaud that GM was at least upgraded into GM II for Zeta Gundam. Star Wars still uses the same fighters, flagships, and doomsday weapons after a decade for no other reason than iconography.

      @RynerGT Год назад +5

      @@JackindaSack Do keep in mind that the GM IIIs on the crossbone era were used by private militia, so they might have been surplus or "retired" frames. The PMC did upgrade them with their own stuff so who knows. Might be a similar case to the Gelgoog that was used on zeta gundam, it looked like a normal gelgoog but the inner frame was all Nemo (or Gm II, can't remember which)

    Funny that you mentioned the Gundam Mk. II's backpack, because the GM III's IS based on it. In fact, it is supposed to be compatible with the G Defenser, but I can't verify if the kit can do that for myself.
    PS: Yes, it is canon that the GM III can have the entirety of its accessories on it and still be equipped with the G Defenser.

    • @gtf234
      @gtf234 Год назад +7

      Narratively yeah it's the same backpack type that the MKII uses; but the kit itself doesn't recycle the exact same parts, it lacks the connection port for the G-Defenser. But the connections for the backpack are the same size and position, so a compatible backpack from the old Super Gundam High Grade will fit on the GM III. A GMIII actually using a G-Defenser is Advance of Zeta material, like a lot of the neat and cool things tend to be.

    • @TK4541
      @TK4541 Год назад +2

      The old HGUC Mk.II's backpack can be attached to the GM III to use the G-Defenser. They use the same connection T/hook.

    • @AmuroRay007
      @AmuroRay007 7 месяцев назад

      I can confirm, it does not, because I did want to make a Super GM, but the GM III’s backpack lacks the hole to mount the G-Defenser. The older Gundam Mark II’s backpacks that do have the hole can be easily swapped to the GM III and Vice versa so that’s what I did.
