This was when we had musicians that were master's at their craft. Thank God for RUclips so if you're too young to have lived it you can still experience it. Phil Collins was the drummer and lead singer for the English rock band named Genesis formed in 1967. I remember very well because it was the year I graduated high school and I loved rock bands as well as many other genres of music. 1960s, 1970s, 1980s was rich with talent. Enjoy!! And yes my brother.... We did get moist !! 😂😂

It is virtually impossible to tell any difference between this performance from 2003 or 2004, and what we hear now with Phil and Nic during the Not Dead Yet tour from 2016 to 2019, when Nic was 15 to 18. With the announcement of Genesis’ The Last Domino? Tour, Nic officially became the drummer as a full member of a Genesis at age 19; ironically the same age Phil was when he cofounded Genesis.

Theres a video from 2019, from his Not Dead Yet tour, that has similar slow build up and moody stage lighting.
Phil is present, but, kept in silhourtte, until his part starts.
He stands at the microphone, with the chair behind him, and, his son, Nicholas does the signature drum fill.
On a video with good audio, his voice is every bit as good as it was in the '80s.
It is,also, on the recent Genesis The Last Domino tour, with decent audio. He stays seated throughout that final tour. Nick drums for them also.
He's a chip off the ole block.

I saw this same performance live in Florida on his "First Final Farewell Tour"...simply AMAZING in person...the whole show was fantastic!!!! He ran around stage without seeming to get tired at all...and actually SANG (not synced like many current stars) and he sounds exactly like his albums in person....this is a legend for sure :) *if you aren't doing the drums/singing with him by the end, there's something wrong with you hahaha

Phil Collins was originally the drummer and lead vocalist for a very successful band called Genesis in the 70's, 80's and early 90's . From Genesis, they had top hits like, I can't Dance, Land of Confusion, Mama, The invisible Touch, Abacab, Tonight, Tonight, Tonight and That's All.
Phil and his Ex wife were having marital issues when he formed is self titled band Phil Collins after Genesis decided to take a break. So when he returned home from a tour, he found that his wife had left him for another man. In the Air Tonight was an expression of his feelings as he went through his divorce. There are stories that some of the lyrics in this song were from actual encounters he had during that time of his life. But being the gentleman, he never has said directly.
Several songs that he wrote during his time with Genesis hinted to the issues in his marriage, however he has never openly stated that any of the lyrics were connected.
Recommend that you guys listen to Genesis - In to Deep and That's All if your interested in to seeing more of his personal expressions. If you would like to see something more upbeat, I would recommend you listen to I Can't Dance or Land of Confusion.
