Thank you Dr Cohen. I found your video after seeing you on Dr Campbell's channel. I wish I had seen your video earlier. As you had mentioned, my iron was low but it was just a nagging problem for me. Back in 2021, I noticed I was getting extremely tired by the end of the day. I was fine until about 6pm and then would start slowing down and would have to go to bed extremely early for my standards. Around 930pm is as far as I could get in the day. I finally got my blood tested at the beginning of this year and I was very low on iron. As soon as I started taking the iron supplement (prescribed by my doctor), I immediately got my energy back in the evening. I never thought to get anything checked, I just assumed I had grown lazy with my work from home schedule, or just needed a lot more sleep as I was close to turning 40. I'm so thankful my doctor noticed this and it really makes a difference in my life :) I am interested in hearing about all the essential vitamins and minerals (from a doctor's perspective, not some supplement company trying to sell you something). These types of videos are very helpful!
I have Thalassemia which usually shows in a blood test as low iron. But do I have low iron. When I had spinal fusion surgery they said my hemoglobin was very low and they gave me a blood transfusions, I said to them did you know I had Thalassemia and they said yes after we gave you the blood transfusions we noticed in your notes you had Thalassemia.

In the USA, multiple vitamin supplements for men over age 50 don't contain any iron. Why is there a concern abt too much iron in older ppl?
