Im pretty sure its gonna be. In the gameplay trailer you can see the player running through a building kinda like those in limansk and looking up at the duga radar.
A beautiful and charming city. I wish it was built to be less linear, with more corridors and shortcuts, less invisible walls. Interesting urban exploration opportunities, and a good place for some missions.
Limansk is a beautiful city: overgrown bushes, trees, abandoned and haunted houses, schools. I quite liked its similarity to Pripyat, yet it is distinct - the antenna was indeed probably the most interesting part of Limansk for me, its similarity to Duga is cool as well. What Forester had to say about Limansk was very interesting and the antenna is very tied to the city. The Soviet government always wanted to create obedient, unquestioning and unthinking populous which would adhere to the party line with no problem - the Homosovieticus. So the city of Limansk could have been used as a city of experimentation by the Soviet government on mind control. But this is just a theory! Great video as always anomalous, always worth the wait! Keep it up and as loners would say: "Thanks bro"!
And cities that aren't officialy documented are a staple of communists governments either for propaganda purposes or for other far more sinister reasons, such an unnetical experiment would certainly need to be kept in extreme secrecy
@@anomalousdugout9557 grenade spam at its finest. And I have to say, I've enjoyed it, it's not often that you get a similar treatment in other single player games.
As much as i am glad that GSC now has the tech to more faithfully recreate The Zone as it exists in the real world, places like Limansk and the Dead City have their own charm. For that reason I hope that they will be featured in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 or at least mentioned in some capacity.
limansk was my favourite area in stalker. It felt completely different from the rest of the game, and it felt alot bigger than the rest of the maps even though it wasnt. It felt so cool having a built up area with tight spaces and a big overgrown city. What was even better is that the city it built on a big hill and not flat ground, it just makes it feel bigger and better. I love this map
My theory about the radar is that it was an early psy emitter which is now used by monotlith as a sort of amplifier for the brain scorcher. It never sat right with me how 4 antenna were enough to emit a massive psy barrier around the center of the zone, it makes sense that there’d be extenders for the signal.
From what Forester said about headaches and from photos in CoP that Degtyarev found, it could easily be implemented as an experimental Psy-device. Especially since it was heavily guarded by monolith, they might have already been around before they had to stop Clear Sky from proceeding. Edit: Interesting mod idea too.
Definitely possible. Actually I thought of something, perhaps going through Limansk allows to bypass the Brain Scorcher because the antenna in the town was supposed to cover this area, but for some reason it stopped working.
Sotsgorod district in Kyiv is the inspiration for Limansk. It was built by Germans after the WW2, there isn't much left of it nowadays, but you can still find photos online, it was a pretty cute neighborhood.
I think it make perfect sense for Limansk antenna to just be smaller mind-control prototype of Duga they develop later and perhaps simply abandon Limansk to its own devices after they make Duga, specially since is implied by Forester that people there are definitely brain-washed in some way I think it would also be cool to have Limansk and perhaps go there to uncover secrets of antenna tests or maybe new x-lab and maybe in way use that information for something grander in term of shutting off Duga or something similar
Limansk is a good map he just need to be more open and not only for scripted mission against ennemies like what Pripyat become After SOC and also if Limansk is here is probably mean that the Clear Sky Red Forest another great map will be available i hope in Stalker 2.
I find Limansk more unnerving than Pripyat. Whenever I am there I feel like I need to get out of there as soon as I can. I feel like if there was an underground section we would find something sinister that existed even before the nuclear disaster.
@@anomalousdugout9557 In OGSE/OGSR Dead City is controlled by a bootleg Miracle Machine called The Master. It is mostly filled with Zombifieds and Controllers, but the most unique thing about that place is that at some point in the day it becomes a pseudo Space Anomaly, because of that Big Brained Bitch. Not to mention, it contains some really interesting quests/items, like finding anomalous kitchen appliances or the infamous Midas artefact. If Limansk is in Stalker 2, I wish it had something similar - artefacts that are only found there that may/may not be a trap, unique quests and something that is still alive and using the city as its playground. Because I feel the former residents of Limansk aren't all dead.
Great video! I was always creeped out when I had to do a task in Limansk (in well-known mods, CS version wasn't too scary in my opinion), especially when it was raining and at night, there's something really unsettling there for me.
Even though Clear Sky is always viewed as the black sheep of the franchise, I still think it's a great game, and it brought us some of the best locations in the games, Limansk is easily one of the best areas in the Zone.
It would be interesting to keep Limansk but somehow retconning it half-way by implying it's a very unique space anomaly generated by the radiowave institute from experimenting on the inhabitants that was created even before the c-consciousness generated the zone from noosphere experiments. With this I think it could be even expanded upon since putting things in such vague conditions as "part of a space anomaly" could give a lot of creative freedom to do something with it
I think they might not have bothered with the unknown while making the game and said there is such a radar, let's add it to the game, but as you said, if I were you, I would have put it in a big way, maybe that radar is still working and is used by stalkers or members of the army or monolith, maybe it catches the signal of the emission and it is said that the emission is approaching.
I believe "Duga" and "Rainbow" are referring to the same thing. It may be a mistranslation by the developers since it doesn't mean "rainbow" in Russian, but it does in Ukrainian and some other Slavic languages. You refer to the "Rainbow emitter" as the brain scorcher at 14:40 , but I think that is in fact the Duga. But maybe the Duga is actually the Brain Scorcher (thought we don't see it in SoC), since that map is also called "Radar" and the Duga served as a radar in real life, and the Limansk one also seemingly was able to affect people's minds in a similar way to the Brain Scorcher.
It would be a sad thing to see Limansk retconned. Now, I'm of the opinion that a lot of the lore information in the original trilogy is contradictory and does need to be cleaned up a bit, but that's a problem predominantly faced by SoC, due to its chaotic development cycle. However, neither CS or CoP have had this problem, so let's hope the information from those games remains intact.
Limansk was quite wasted potential, due to the whole map being a looter shooter Call of Duty level that STALKER just isn't. In fact it reminds me of some of Oblivion Lost's running and gunning scenes, like Darkscape, a map just meant for action: you go through, you don't return.
