  • My first Giza trip shattered my 2-day old record of most intense inline skating trip ever. This was particularly true for Part 3 of this trip. It led me deep into the southern districts of Giza (the hometown of the pyramids). It was here where I faced the biggest challenges of the day: wild traffic, increasingly suboptimal quality of roads and asphalt, sand all around, potholes, and a near-fall because of a piece of rubber that got stuck between the wheels and the frame. It was also this part that I enjoyed the most of this trip! Not only because I deliberately seek out such technical challenges to grow as an urban inline skater, but also for the awesome authenticity of the places I visited. A particular scene starting around 18.30 left a deep impression for its seemingly perfect union of video and audio. Bonus 1: a video I made at the pyramids the day after. Bonus 2: an illustration how fearless pedestrians cross the street.
