Ok so from an under drawing to a photo finish in 2 hours...and its just a loose painting! Ya know, nothing too hard-core! WTH!!! Big fan Aaron, again I'm blown away love how you capture such dynamic light in your paintings. Fur and hair are such a difficult thing for me and this has really helped me, thanks so much for posting this.
You're picking colors so correctly and so easily, Aaron :) I can't pick a proper colors when I am coloring drawings, so I am drawing each different color in it's own layer and then changing them tons of times until I will be satisfied XD I wish I could train my eyes to pick colors so quickly and nicely like you do one day...
once I saw another tutorial on how you could get better at color picking: get a reference photo and instead of picking color with eyedropper tool, you use your eyes and pick the color from your color wheel. Then compare the color value you've picked against the original color from your reference. You'll achieve accuracy pretty fast.
@@janjojose Hey, sure! Also I want to add that I've recently did a course created by Marco Bucci - probably titled as "The color survival guide", and now I have easier time picking up light/shadow colors and such. I definitely recommend this course to everyone!

Alyssa Hansen it is excellent! While it is not an anatomy course (if that’s what you’re looking for), Aaron Blaise is very thorough in helping you understand how to draw the animals and what is under the fur that is important for drawing them. If that makes sense. He breaks down each animal by section, Head, body, paws in individual videos and then goes further into how to do gesture drawings with each and even locomotion of the animal. I would highly recommend any of his animal courses, he is such a great teacher. They are well worth the price and that goes especially for Wolves, Coyotes and Foxes.
Very nice. I’ve been working in Photoshop since the early 90s. Working at Disney and other studios but have been doing traditional painting for the last few years. This is motivating me to do some more digital painting again. Thank you.

I wish we knew what brushes you used to paint this, especially for the shading. My biggest obstacle I am facing learning to paint is finding the right brush for adding shading and highlights.
Idk how I missed the part when his drawing started to become realistic. It's that incredible lol, I'm trying to learn how to use brushes better and totally forgot why i was watching this. xD

Thanks so much, i followed along and while it took many more hours and my final result isnt as good as yours, i am ecstatic with the result. Amazing tutorial :)
I love the way you draw Aaron, I look after a dog who looks just like this, he is getting old, so this will help me to do his portrait. Many thanks for this clear explanation.
Great video, I learned a lot. Let me first say that I could not draw a stickman if my life depended on it but I am a great critique. I was sitting there waiting for the wolf to get some whiskers and was greatly relieved when they were finally added. Just, my wish for some blurring in the contrast between light and dark in the ruff did not come through. It still looks like a stylist gone crazy with the scissors.
Thank you, Aaron. Great tutorial on fur texture. I noticed you used an overlay with a yellow color, that went over top of the shadows on the fur. Wow, how that overlay reacted to the shadows, you were literally making fur pop out with every stroke. And I noticed the dark background contrasted with the grey yellow for under the mouth, literally gave that color a lighter value. Seems to me, that it was similar to the effect of a checkerboard with white and black, but with shadow on the board a grey square looks white! Awesome technique. Thanks!!!!
First off, I really appreciate this video. The patient and detailed instruction, the expert execution, this is top notch all around. Thank you thank you thank you. I’m not only subscribing but I will encourage others to do likewise. All that said, here is the slightest suggestion for a near perfect videotape for people who are really trying to improve like myself: I think it is extremely important to show your viewer student your reference with regularity. I watch an embarrassing number of these videos. I’m not suggesting you clutter the screen with a thumbnail of the reference photo which takes the notion too far. But it is an absolute must for your viewer/student to see what you see as a reference. Perfectly understood 100% that you are not merely reproducing the photo. But we still need to see that reference with regularity. Thank you for this awesome video!
Uh, last week I needed a fur tutorial that was good, and didn't find any, and now that the piece is finished this was on my recommend list -.- Why didn't I think of Aaron Blaise? Your art is incredible Well, at least, after several tries,I like how my wolf turned out xD
Hi Aaron. The reason wolves and dogs differ so much in behavior is that the wolves we have today are not the ancestors of our dogs. It was a different kind of wolf that evolved into dogs. The wolf is a separate species (even if they can have cubs together) and they are a lot alike. I found this out a few months ago and I always believed they where descendant from the same species but nope. No matter they are wonderful animals and my favorite wild animal and I draw them a lot ^^.
No problem ^^. I know I am really cheesy now but: thanks for animating our favorite childhood characters! Raja and the Beast (Beauty and the Beast) are my faves. You rock.
This is absolutely stunning and I am sad that I just now figured out about this wonderful artist. Thank you very much for your way of sharing and how clear and down to the dedails but easy to understand you are teaching.
A real masterpiece, you are a fantastic artist my friend... I love your tecnique for drawing the Wolf fur, great gooood job, bravo Aaron Blaise 👌😊👍 really realistic result.... Ps. Sorry for my bad english, I am italian, and I not have never study the english language. 😢
This is wonderful. Thank you for sharing and for the inspiration. I feel like your method is so simple but very effective compared to my floundering attempts at painting fur lol.
Hello there. Thank you for offering great videos on digital art and the process. I am getting into digital art myself and am using a different program (Corel Painter). Would the brush sets on your site be compatible with Corel? Thank you again!
drawing fur is quite fun if you know how to do it . My technique is similar BUT , I include in some parts some blurred areas over which I draw clean fur lines. This way , it gives the illusion of fluffy fur in the back. This I do especially on the edges.. because Fur is somehow blurry and gives a more realistic look.
My only fixation was that the bottom jaw (including tongue, jowls and teeth, just the whole bottom part) was slightly too big. I couldn’t stop seeing it. But it’s an awesome drawing and helpful video. When you zoomed out it was better, maybe I’m just crazy but I can’t stop seeing it xD

Thanks so much, i followed along and while it took many more hours and my final result isnt as good as yours, i am ecstatic with the result. Amazing tutorial :)
This is really awesome. I am just learning. I have a big problem with not being loose in the early stages. Your advise is helping.
I love the way you draw Aaron, I look after a dog who looks just like this, he is getting old, so this will help me to do his portrait. Many thanks for this clear explanation.
Am I the only one getting that Bob Ross feeling?
Great job paint those happy little fur patches Aaron! 👍🏻😁
Durk durk durk
Nice to see u sending me class.
Thank you
aaron youre fantastic! thank you for your amazing work and tips, this is seriously helping me soso much! Hope you have a nice day!!!
amazing. IMy head is spinning with how I can relate this to my own work. thank you.
You are the best teacher ever.
Big fan of your works!! Thank you for all the great lessons!
MIND-BLOWING!!! 💖
pure art
Great video, I learned a lot. Let me first say that I could not draw a stickman if my life depended on it but I am a great critique. I was sitting there waiting for the wolf to get some whiskers and was greatly relieved when they were finally added. Just, my wish for some blurring in the contrast between light and dark in the ruff did not come through. It still looks like a stylist gone crazy with the scissors.
one of the best art videos I have ever watched :)
me: I’m finally confident about my art and think I’m a good artist
RUclips: hold my recommendations
Love the trophies in the background
What a beautiful painting! Loved watching this, got so many great tips to try, THANK YOU!
You make the art world a better place! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with all of us!
Aaron Blaise is a literal god
Thank you, Aaron. Great tutorial on fur texture. I noticed you used an overlay with a yellow color, that went over top of the shadows on the fur. Wow, how that overlay reacted to the shadows, you were literally making fur pop out with every stroke. And I noticed the dark background contrasted with the grey yellow for under the mouth, literally gave that color a lighter value. Seems to me, that it was similar to the effect of a checkerboard with white and black, but with shadow on the board a grey square looks white! Awesome technique. Thanks!!!!
I love how he calls the outline of the eye mascara, so cute
Its very cool of you that you show how to do things without people have to pay for special brush sets and so on. Big thumbs up for that 👍🏼😊
Oh man, this is surreal! Amazing job man!
Awesome work.
Uh, last week I needed a fur tutorial that was good, and didn't find any, and now that the piece is finished this was on my recommend list -.- Why didn't I think of Aaron Blaise? Your art is incredible
Well, at least, after several tries,I like how my wolf turned out xD
Thanks for the info!
No problem ^^. I know I am really cheesy now but: thanks for animating our favorite childhood characters! Raja and the Beast (Beauty and the Beast) are my faves. You rock.
Everybody knows that and you have proven it loud. But I must say it... "You are a great artist". Thanks for sharing your art and knowledge !!
You are soooo well practiced your work is amazing! You totally inspire and motivate me to never stop learning thank you for sharing 😄😄
Thank you, very informative video.
That only took 2 hours?!? It takes me at least 3 hours to get 1% of this quality! Holy sponge cake
This is absolutely stunning and I am sad that I just now figured out about this wonderful artist. Thank you very much for your way of sharing and how clear and down to the dedails but easy to understand you are teaching.
I simply don't feel the same satisfaction drawing/painting in photoshop as I do with traditional methods.
Simply hats off Sir
This is wonderful. Thank you for sharing and for the inspiration. I feel like your method is so simple but very effective compared to my floundering attempts at painting fur lol.
I just simply love it! Very helpful, thank you!!!
Hello there. Thank you for offering great videos on digital art and the process. I am getting into digital art myself and am using a different program (Corel Painter). Would the brush sets on your site be compatible with Corel? Thank you again!
aewsome fur details
Superb painting sir
Beautiful work!! Awesome!!! Thanks for sharing your passion!
Stunning!
drawing fur is quite fun if you know how to do it . My technique is similar BUT , I include in some parts some blurred areas over which I draw clean fur lines. This way , it gives the illusion of fluffy fur in the back. This I do especially on the edges.. because Fur is somehow blurry and gives a more realistic look.
Aaron I’ve learned more from 2 of your tutorials....thank you!
Who else drew along with him? C:
It's turned out good :D
Haha Bob Ross Style😂
Fantastic fur demo Aaron! Really helpful. Thanks.
Thank you so much for doing this digitally - this is fantastic and a huge help!

Amazingly helpful thanks Aaron
U r simply amazing artist
i love to see you drawing/painting like that! its so awesome and you are such a good teacher! Sensei!
Love those type of animals and all time favorite is wolf
wow this is so cool! Really simple and easy to follow explanation as well.
Thank you!! Awesome demo .... Helps my creatures out so much :)
