Tommy (Colin Farrell) joins his idol Bad Blake (Jeff Bridges) on stage to share in one of their famous songs.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
A worn-down country singer and a burgeoning journalist form an unusual bond in this drama adapted from the novel by Thomas Cobb. His spirit broken by multiple failed marriages, too much time on the road, and too many nights with the bottle, Bad Blake (Jeff Bridges) had started to feel like he was headed down the path of no return. When probing young writer Jean (Maggie Gyllenhaal) digs deep enough to unearth the broken man behind the legend, however, Bad realizes that redemption may not be such a long shot after all. Robert Duvall and Colin Farrell co-star.

I am NOT a country music fan and I absolutely loved this movie.
Respectfully, maybe you shouldn't look at it as "Country Music" but rather, just good music. Years ago, you couldn't get me to listen to anything that was considered "Country". Today, I'm nearly 60 and being a musician for most of my life, my tastes have changed drastically. I started out playing funk, transition to rock, then metal, had a hip hop, Limp Bizkit type phase, blues and then country... And now, I just play whatever sounds great to me. I cover everything from Alice in Chains to Garth Brooks! Over the years, I discovered that it's all just music and you can find greatness in music anywhere. This is simply a great song, from a soundtrack no less, but still a great song.
Jeff Bridges is fantastic and so talented.

Tommy Sweet turned out to be a good guy - with an old-school heart - who respected the roots and the old artists, such as Bad Blake.
Jeff Bridges is just extraordinary! And Colin Farrell was just great.

It really depends on the country singers you know Thomas Rhett is not good at all, but Cody jinks, Aaron lewis, Chris Stapleton, and Cody Johnson are some of the best country singers out there today

you it you want to hear real country then go to Ireland the irish brought country music to America and they love the American country singers
Well, a lot of country comes from the Irish and Scottish, so it's kind of fitting. :) Ireland is a country music home, place of origin, so don't be surprised.

I have watched this clip over and over again, and I can't help but imagine that before they shot this scene Bridges ate garlic and Ferrell ate a can of sardines. I love this, it makes me smile, every time.

Indeed. I felt bad for Jeff Bridges during this film. He's at the end of a storied career, not sure what it is he wants to do, or what to do next. His drinking was dragging him down. I'll bet a lot of active country music stars can relate to the hard drinking.
One of my absolute favorites, as hard as the sadder parts can be to watch. I’ve been fortunate enough to grow up in and around the country music industry, and this film captures in a way that I don’t know will ever be recreated. Thank god for Jeff Bridges, Colin Farrell, and Crazy Heart.

Many years ago, early '90s, I worked in a hotel in LA and I took Robert Duvall's bags, along with him, up to his room. I didn't recognize him right away, but he stared me down with a smile until I could see his face clearly. It was a funny moment. But I remember thinking that this was "Tom Hagen" from the Godfather, so I was a shocked. We chatted while I walked him to the room and he gave me a $100 tip. Lovely man and very generous!

I used to thumb my nose at Country Music. But the more I listen, the more I like. This song has great lyrics. Plus guitars! You can only find great guitar work in Blues or Country these days!

Soooo good! On my dvd I can choose between the sound that went into the mic when shooting the scene or the version where the studiorecording is added. The real sound is way better and more realistic campared to the mouth movement etc.
I don’t really like country music, but I really love this movie and my eyes water when I saw this scene
