The widescreen fix makes the menu graphical a bit off, but the gameplay works perfectly in full hd without stretched cars. Thank you very much for the quicky but helpfully video.

The game menu only filled 75% of the screen but the actual gameplay was widescreen so all good, interestingly windows defender advised against running it but my Norton 360 was cool with it, many thanks for the advice and letting me run this NFS classic !

Widescreen fix doesn't work for me, I just get a black screen with white borders. I'm fine with playing in 720p but I can't find an "apply" button in game.
I have tried multiple methods to get this game to work on my new Windows 11 laptop, and every single one leads to the exact same game breaking error message:
"The thread tried to read from or write to a virtual address for which it does not have the appropriate access"
I honestly don't know what to do at this point other than to resort to emulation just to play the game again.
I'm having the same issue as well on windows 11. It running well on windows 7 with my older laptop .
@@markeddison Weird how the previous Need for Speed game that couldn't work was Porsche Unleashed. Now it's Hot Pursuit 2.
At least this time there is a substitute, if you're willing to look into PS2 emulation.

Everything seems to work fine but I am getting a grayed out screen during the race. Any tips on how to correct that?

I did this and have been playing well. But just recently I upgraded my whole PC to new CPU+mobo+RAM+GPU and reinstall Windows 10 to recent version (from Microsoft). Now I can't get the NFS HP2 to work anymore. I did everything you suggested. But I can't fix the problem that game starts up black screen with mouse cursor locked at screen's top-left and an error window saying exception error. There seems no way to fix the issue in the current version of Windows 10.
I am stuck at the NFS HP2 logo screen. I cannot click or press any button. (Windows 10).

Hello and greetings from germany :) NFS MW, Carbon, Porsche and Pro Street work fine on my Win 10 but I found my F1 2002 CD-ROM. Installing worked but I can't run it no matter which compatibility I choose (95, 98, XP, 7).
On YT or Google I only found old videos where the links didn't work or were scam so I just wanted to ask if anybody knows how I can get it started?

Bro after starting the game all is fine..bt when I am into the racing screen car is shown..3..2..1 go that screen..the screen is showing white..u know..means..nrml graphics are nor showing some white grey kind of..but as I exit the race... everything is fine...pls say what do I do

if you have grey screen. Go to settings -> Graphics/Video and set the special effects to 0

@@namaloompakistani1768 this helped thanks :) you actually dont need to set it to "0" you can set it to anywhere in-between as long as its not maxed, this way you can get the tire smoke effects and more in the game

I am stupid or thats just my bad luck. I still cant launch the game, it keeps crashing.
facing a couple of issues .
1. The facing screen is fine, but the loding screen and menu screen are shifted to the left using the wide screen fix.
2. fogging issue - complete gray screen during race. not able to resolve it.
I am getting the same issue with the gray screen during the race. Any ways to correct that?

Also just buy a sealed copy then torrent the game. Perfectly legal because you paid for and own a copy but you get to keep a sealed copy for life. Also might be able to find a patched/fixed version.

Go to main menu --> options --> graphics --> set the special effects to zero (to the left). I had the same problem as you and now the colours are back to normal :) Hope this helps
I followed every step but it still doesn't work
The widescreen fix keeps playing up the display of the game. I suggest not to download that and instead download the modern patch v242 and maybe a crack file if you can find one. Do this before transerring the folders on your CDrom to the install directory and it should work without any hiccups. Otherwise, try compatibility settings or consult the PC gaming wiki.
Hey there, if you're referring to the main menu, that is completely normal. If you load into a race, you'll notice that the game will look just fine. What you're suggesting is a good alternative if you just want to get the game to work and you aren't too concerned about resolution.
@@77Vids I'm more concerned about getting the game to work properly than to fully optimize it for my computer. I just don't recommend the widescreen fix you suggested for those reasons.

I also find it helps to have the patch file in the game's directory in case of an error. And make sure there aren't any broken USB HID drivers that are interfering with running the game. If there are, open device manager from the control panel and disable all of them, then try running the game. You might want to re-enable each one until you work out which one/s are broken, then leave just that/them disabled.
