Maybe not for baseline models, but for higher end or limited edition models, I think it's great. I especially like the subtle translucent look this PS4 has. If it was more transparent, it'd look like a prison model.

I finally got my own ps4 too but its ps4 slim from a ezpawn and it was $200 with 2tb storage :O and it had some other upgrades the owners did to it I just cleaned all the dust so people should buy ps4 from ezpawn with warranty and 1tb storage instead of buying a new ps4 slim for like $300 with 500gb storage

It is a genuinely good-looking console. I can proudly say that I used it for 3 years. I remember I had no complaints about it, but it was a bit noisy. Then I sold it to one of the PS collectors, and I ordered a new PS5.
I personally like the 20th anniversary one that was super limited. I was lucky enough to get one. I still have it packed away and never used it because they announced a red MGS V edition, which I used for the entire cycle of the PS4.

I left the plastic on the top and bottom of mine as well to keep it from getting scratched and dusty. Upgraded mine with a 2tb ssd and called it my ps4.5 because of the faster load times until i got my ps5 last October. Looking for a display case to keep it in
I highly recommend building a shadow box for it. They're easy to make and you'll be able to customize the dimensions to fit it perfectly. I'm sure there are a billion "how to" videos on how to make one.
My most advanced system is a PS1 when i was like 10 and I've never played consoles since then, so to hear people talk about the ps4 nostalgically is quite something

Sony should definitely create a PS5 version where it's interior design is the focal point. Add cool circuit light patterns and also do translucent colours as well

Thats definitely one of the best looking Playstations ever made. I always thought the original Playstation 4 and Playstation 4 Pro looked amazing and they are some of the best looking consoles ever made no question. The original Playstation 3 looks very good too in my opinion. Also the og Playstation 5 and Playstation 5 Slim looks beautiful.
I got the controller when it was released. Battery was ass and I had stick drift within a month. Went back to the controller I got with the original slim. Still using it today. Still no issues. 500m cashgrab.

Translucent games consoles and controllers were huge in the 90s and I still think they look cool today. We need to see more.

You can make your ps5 look the same way (almost). I bought some translucent cover plates in purple from an etsy creator. The end result looks awesome.
