I played bass for Tony Lovello for two years, when I was 18 through 20. 1961-63. We performed the Nevada Lounge circuit and the wonderful Elks circuit in Washington. He was a good guy to work for and I learned a lot about showmanship from him. His now ex-wife LaVonne was delightful and his four young daughters were like family to me. Amazing my grandfather played very well I hear I never heard him myself but I'm trying to pick it up now, love the instrument Great job very inspiring...
@dacribgansta you're wrong. this is the proper bellow movement if you're standing. However, only old accordion books teach the fan-styled bellow-managing. Have a look at professional bayanist or accordionist. Have a look at serbian accordionist (highest level on the world), they open and close bellows just like this. And by the way: he makes almost perfect ricochet-tuplets while standing! He's great.
I took accordion lessons from Tony when I was 13 yrs old. I had to audition for him before he would accept me as a student. What an incredible talented man! I'll always remember him "hollering" at me about my 'fingering" positions..said it was amazing that I could play!! Anyway, even though accordion is way outdated, it's a difficult instrument to master, and Tony was the best.
i can't ever imagine learning to play an instrument like that. learning a language, for instance, is possible through total immersion, but learning an instrument in that manner would prove very difficult, i imagine :/
It's weird. Accordion players all seem to think good performance requires tricks and fast playing. Hammond B-3 organ players think they need to constantly play with the instrument's draw bars. Personally, I don't think either represent good technique. I just want to hear the song.
$35 an hour and the man don't even open and close his bellows properly. it's supposed to be like a lady's fan similar to a V. not this showmanship of open at the bottm and closing at the top that's all nonsense and you'll ruin your bellows after a while.
Hier kan ik alleen maar van dromen. Heb ook een accordeon sinds kerst. Speel elke dag en kan al wat liedjes!
Deze muzikant is geniaal.
That a boy, Junior!!!

Do you still play accordion? It's not outdated! Especially in other countries.
I haven't played in many years, but branched out to piano and organ. Tony taught me more in a short time than any other instructor over the years.
Herrlich Ihr humorvoller Vortrag - liebe Grüße aus Wien
accordion bellow shake always make the player look possesed, but it gives a good sound
