  • In this episode, I demonstrate SIX different methods for ABSAILING/RAPPELING/MANAGING FRICTION while using a FIGURE 8 descending device. In the video, I use a Rescue 8 variant of the device, however, any standard Figure 8 can be used for any of the methods shown. Every one of these techniques can be performed with nothing more than the Figure 8 and anywhere from one to two locking carabiners! I will also demonstrate a way for a climber to connect a rope to their Figure 8 without it ever being disconnected, thereby ensuring that the device cannot be inadvertently dropped or lost during use.

Could you ask the question again as a new comment, please? RUclips is messing up.

    Thank you for posting this. I bought some rope and a descender to *hopefully* build a diy sprint resistance device for my daughters who run track. This video gave me some great ideas. Keep educating folks Sir 👍

    Super helpful! What do you think of running the Omni on the bridge with out the lock screw? I just picked one up and it doesn’t have the lock screw and I’m not sure if I trust it or not yet on my tree motion

      That's a great question. I think it's ideal to get the proper screw and place it in. Having said that, I've use mine without a screw many times and I've been fine. I ended up deciding I don't like pulleys on my bridge anymore. It was straining my abdominal muscles. I decided that I want the friction that ring creates on the bridge.

    that one is modernized version of figure 8?

    • @Knot-orious
      @Knot-orious  11 месяцев назад

      Yes, that is what is known as a "Rescue 8 (Eight)," with the only difference being that it has the two "ears" on either side at the top, which allows the operator to better lock off the line they are using it with. The resulting lock off is more secure and there is a proper technique for doing it. Thanks for your question!
