Luis Hernandez: Yeah. When I heard them say that it was a new ship "never seen before in Star Wars battlefront", I got upset and looked over at my battlefront II sitting on the shelf.
While I absolutely loved the space battles in the original Battlefront 2, I always felt that the actual dogfighting left a little to be desired. I spent most of my time boarding or bombing, and I loved the boarding probably because the actual flying honestly wasn't very good. It was better than BF 2015 but this looks vastly improved in my opinion.
I must say the Hero ships look incredible and really unique. Han Solo's Millennium Falcon looks badass and overpowered but that was only Pre Alpha build. I know you can't land on hangers and sabotage them sure its disappointing but still looks amazing with the phases and objectives. Flying combat seems more complicated now with no more auto aim which is good thing you can maneuver easily and not worry about being locked on with missiles
Before everyone starts complaining how you can't exit the ships and destroy enemy ships from inside, just think how unbalanced and stupid that would be in an online mp game

Looks really good to me, I feel like the flying in this game looks a lot more smooth than the more arcade version in Star Wars battlefront(2015). The stages is a big improvement from fighter squadron as you are not just shooting down the ships/transport ships and you have a faster pace game mode. In my opinion they did a great job and I look forward to more!!
I think I speak for about 90% of people watching and wanting the game. Look at Star Wars Battlefront 2 for the PS2 and PC. This was and still will be the best Star Wars game and for some the best game to have ever been made. With today's technology, why does it seem impossible to copy the great aspects of that game into the games now? Why aren't you actually listening to fans and game lovers and recreating the most amazing game that ever existed? I did not purchase the first game because of many reasons, it doesn't feel like Star Wars. It feels like Battlefield with Star Wars maps, skins, vehicles and guns. When people talk about space combat. No one actually cares if there are 4 ships around or 20. If you're stuck in a ship it's classed as linear. It's boring. Why not control missile launchers or turrets on big ships? To get involved in combat without the skills to fly. To be able to clear the objectives without having to be in space. How many people are good at flying, shooting and maneuvering? Give people choices! Not ship choices! But choices on how to approach the combat scenario. Last bit to make people see the picture. Would you rather fly outside of the death star, do the death star run and that's it. OR! Would you rather start in space, be able to land inside of the death star and take it out from the inside. Disabling turrets, shields etc? Rant over. Thank you for your time if you read all of this. :)
Camping? So you're saying that the 10-20 people who stay inside are getting an advantage when you'll end up having people stay outside doing the hard damage. If given choices, the only balancing is how much turrets, ships etc do damage. The rest of the balancing is done by the player base as with any game.

I understand why people are skeptical, but come on. At least give it a chance. If the biggest problem with this is that you can't land in some of the hangars, I think that's pretty indicative of the quality. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe it will be terrible, but at least give it a chance before blindly hating on it despite the game being everything we asked for (or at least I assume so from what I've seen; Again, it's not out yet). I hated 2015's Battlefront, but you can clearly see how much effort is going into this and how thy're trying to do exactly what we want. It's honestly kind of saddening that people are picking this apart to find even the smallest problems.

A lot of people are saying "Why can't DICE do what could be done in 2005?" Well, DICE is trying to make an authentic Star Wars game and boarding then destroying capital ships from the inside in the same manner as Battlefront II just can't be done and isn't authentic. Capital ships are very very large. For example, a standard Star Destroyer is 5200 feet long. The components to the ship would be located throughout it, and it wouldn't just be a hangar with 3 rooms closely attached that for some reason house all of the major components of the ship. If DICE did this now they wouldn't be able to get away with it. It would be considered cheap and unauthentic. It was acceptable to make an extremely small ship interior and call it a star destroyer in 2005 because the technology wasn't good enough to make anything better. If DICE implemented ship boarding, the entire Star Destroyer would be the size of a map, not to mention that all of the components wouldn't just be right next to each other, they'd be all throughout the entire ship. They are able to implement this authentically, but it wouldn't make for good gameplay. Once you land you'd have to go throughout a ship the size of an entire map to locate each system of the ship. It would be mostly running, and there's a reason that we haven't seen this actually done in Star Wars. It's very unrealistic and unfeasible. We have seen a boarding party board a ship in order to kill take it over and capture it, or to capture a specific target, but not blow it up from the inside as that is near impossible.
Max Rubens he's being realistic about things. You're wanting a tiny star destroyer that doesn't even look real. If they actually made a star destroyer in this game it would have to be he Size of the entire map. Probably bigger than the average map size
Everyone stop complaining. Yes I loved boarding ships in BF2 2005 but think about it, it would be unbalanced and everyone would be inside the ship, so you can call it TDM then.
No one loves loves the old battlefront 2 more than I did, but I have to say that apart from all the complaints on the gameplay and how it's "not the same". This looks beautiful and detailed and nuanced and fun. The balance of various ships and AI frigates and heroes looks wonderful. I was a skeptic after EAs battlefront 1 but it looks like dice nailed it this time.
The area of effect on Poe's ship is a really great idea, because it will encourage players to fight together in formation, something which we didn't really see in OG Battlefront II.

Open your eyes, lose the nostalgia. Plenty people have that opinion. That was a gimmick, and ultimately did nothing dynamic to the game. If you want to fight on foot, play an infantry game mode.

It's fine by me as long as it's a separate game mode and there will be still era specific battles without mixing content from different eras. If this is not the case I think it's gonna be a deal breaker for me.
To be honest im happy theres no boarding ships because 1. It would take away the dog fighting focus and 2. you didn't see wedge, lando, or any other pilots take over ships from inside, cause thats not what your there for as a pilot, you fly and shoot and move on!
those visuals are astonishing but to be fair the battles looks boring. I think this game needs the old battlefront space battle where fleets where oposing each other in formation amd you need to go deep into the enemy fleet to complete objectives. I miss the tactical aspects

Am I the only one that hates how slow the flying looks? Like... Wait... These are spaceships??? Hated how in Battlefront 2015, it felt like I was just hovering around. There's little speed and agility involved and that bugs me. Nothing like the films. Yes the graphics and sounds are amazing. But it's the FEELS that I'm more concerned about - how it FEELS to fly the Millennium Falcon. In the movies it is said to be one of the fastest ships in the galaxy. Yet in BF, it seems so damn sluggish.
Looks great! I hope we can fly in first person! The explosion of a big ship looks a little lame considering it just blasts into nothing from a starfighter. It would be cool if it slowly began to sink down
They look slow probably because: 1. It's just an illusion because the rest of the structures are giant, 2. Lock-ons, 3. That's how fast the fighters can actually go.
Thecrazygamer2 it's the size of the map,interceptor is the fastest class and the only reason why it look so slow is because of how big you're surroundings are. And that maneuver bullshit from the last game you can do manually :)
Things to improve imo a) are cutscenes for small objectives necessary b ) frigates just blowing up in an explosion, looks lazy & stupid visually c ) I would love to see capitals and frigates at least trying to fight back rather than being HP punching bags.
Why are you guys always saying that "If you can't board the ships i am not gonna buy the game" Do you guys even think? I would love if they added that, but do you know how hard it would be to add that with the frostbite engine, with in depth animations, etc. The only reason the original Battlefront 2 had that was because of the graphics, it makes it easier to add more content with worse graphics because you don't have to focus on depth and amazing gameplay. Not really, your client doesn't need to give a damn about anything but the room you are in, any rooms connected to it, and the players in those rooms as well as the overall status of the ship. All those other areas and the players in them don't need to be rendered, tracked or anything. Being inside a ship would be easier on your system then outside it.
If this was pre alpha they better get to work, Beta usually takes months to a year, and alphas often even more. Honestly, at this time the game is most likely in Beta, the only reason why they don't say that is because Beta is a marketing tool these days where players are granted access to a near 100% complete build. Which also means that at this time they are unlikely to add content, just fix issues. There is still a small chance that the B-wing is in, its just not here due to major bugs, but that is not likely.
I'm pretty disappointed, to be honest. There is nothing new here from any other battlefield game. It is ships flying. 1 team going for objectives the other team stopping them. Why can't we have capital ships actually involved in the battle, that actually take realistic damage to sub-systems? instead of this percentage bullshit. If fighters target a ship's engine, destroy the engine, if they target a turret, destroy that turret... This is just the same old vanilla crap with better graphics
I still think that they could have some separate but necessary target points inside the capital ships like in the OG Battlefront 2 but to keep it balanced you could have them be just as important as the outside objectives.
I think they should increase the speed of the ships and add a little more vibration on screen during first person view. And add a mix of some epic Star Wars music to playout during the matches+have different scenarios happen so the map can change slightly like that scene when the republic ship crashed into the other republic ship in the trailer released the other day Oh and guys Galactic Conquest wasn't unbalanced in the original Battlefront 2 (according to players who have played it) and it is something I want to experience. Maybe a mode where a few players have to fly troop transports filled with other players who decided to get in, some of those players can man the turrets on the sides of the transports whilst player piloted starfighters attack the enemy ships and defend the troop transports then they land in the hanger and could try to take control of the bridge, rescue the hostage/payload(depending on mode), destroy the power core and/or sabotage the coolent systems. To those that say "it's unbalanced" just open your eyes to the possibilities and besides if anything doesn't seem to work then it can be fixed

Struan Young Yeah, the way they designed space battles this time around, there's really no need to land your ships anyway. There's just so much to do out in space that landing in enemy hangars would almost feel tacked on and not serve much purpose.
Looks good but some things still bug me: 1. Bombers are now Multi-function Anti-Spacecraft...... 2. The Heroes look way to powerful 3. Objectives are fine, but look kind of unprotected 4. Two or more player Crafts are now completly gone 5. It is kind of weird seeing Hereos from different eras 6. There are no hardpoints on cruisers or frigates which can be destroyed 7. You dont start from a carrier, but instead just spawn into space (it kills the immersion for me) I KNOW that people are fed up with people comparing it with the old games, because those were from different (better) developers and from a different time. But please consider that we are in freaking 2017! We really should expect more from games these days and not cooperate with everything.

I'm completely okay with not being able to board enemy ships. Sure the original one had it, but it would take too much to add that in. It's not like they can click a button and add it in. Maybe we'll get it in a future map, maybe not, I'll be buying this either way.
Here's an unpopular fact among the toxic community that calls themselves Battlefront fans. Landing in a capital ship and fighting on foot would kill the immersion of a space battle. It simply would not work for a multiplayer game as big as this one.
Austin Jones I disagree. Look at WarHawk for Ps3. The best part is being able to get into a ship, fly way across the map, land at enemy base, and raise hell. At the minimum that should be available. Maybe not landing in a cruiser, but open land.

Guys why are you complaining sure we can't board inside of ships, but at least we get space battles. And even if they do add it in later it won't be that big of a deal because ALL DLC IS FREE! And won't cost you a penny the only thing that will cost you besides the base game is cosmetic items, just like what ea did with titanfall 2 and look how good that game did with reviews and ratings!
i only have two major irks here. one: i'm not a huge fan of heroes from different eras in the same battle. i think the reasoning for that is fairly obvious two: i feel like the explosion that signifies the destruction of the light cruisers is pretty underwhelming. the destruction of the frigates in ps2 BF II had more visual spectacle than this.

I see most people are talking about hanger landings and I still play the og battlefront 2 online and it works fine so I agree. What I'm more concerned about is that I'm not seeing evasive manoeuvres at all. No ships rolling or flipping around to dodge missiles. That was what made the space battles fun for me. Managing your ship energy to use for dodging missiles and getting behind enemies.
Honestly , the devs won't read this but maybe someone might but other than making money what is the point of all this? Calling it battlefront 2 is bad enough and then it's nothing like the old one? It's already worse like just look how forced it all is when you compare it to the originals open and dynamic chaos. On PC battlefront could have 124 players on the server but the new ones can't even mange that. Why they didn't just remaster the old ones and put in all the maps with perhaps some new ones is beyond me. I think you failed to understand the concept behind it. You fly into the enemies ship and blow it from the inside to win the game. To call that tactic shows how this generations of sw battlefront players are autistic . period.
+MrGamer9520 What, you think people didn't try to camp back in the day? Sounds like you never played the originals. There were defense turrets in the ships (which automatically respawned after a while), and if you died you couldn't respawn in the enemy ship unless you had brought a transport (which was in a big open area and easy to destroy). Furthermore, the entire enemy team respawns in their ship and there were AI bots and you'd easily get overrun. This also wasn't a call of duty type game where you hide for a little bit and then you're back to full health--that health system enables camping and it's why camping is such a problem nowadays. The regular old-school health system makes camping difficult because each time you get hit you lose health and don't get it back unless you leave your camping spot to pick up health the enemy dropped or found a healing droid (which could be destroyed).
Shut up about the whole docking into blowing up the inside of the ship, I seen other extra footages and you actually can get in the ship but you can't dock inside of it, you can only fly through it and cause minimum damage (plus it seems a little too OP for that old game mechanic. To dock and destroy the inside of the ship because everyone will try to destroy the inside of the ship)

The reason people camp so much nowadays is because so many games have that shitty Call of Duty health system where they just hide for a little bit and they're back to full health, and this encourages camping. With regular health systems, camping isn't as big of a problem because eventually they'll have to leave the camping spot to search for health or stay and die because the health didn't just regenerate. In the original Battlefront 2, you also couldn't spawn in the enemy ship unless you brought the transport there and it was easy to destroy. And the fact that you would spawn anywhere in the ship meant it was easy to surround a camping enemy. And the ship had respawning defense turrets, and the entire team spawns in the ship.

SavageRicktator slow ships, not too much freedom to maneuvre them, is like a car game, where are the loopings barrel roll and that things you should be able to do on a spaceship battle. Why the dogfighting is so absurdly slow? Seriously, if you out space battle you need speed, you need a lot more of direction capabilities is boring because that is a limit to the attack and defensive possibilities. Is shallow, is almost on rails, and you can't feel anything, there aren't thrilling battles.
I think the best compromise we can get from ea is something along the lines of 2 phases of space battles then a phase in a ship. Would be cool if they could connect them fluidly instead of with a cut scene. And honestly, it seems to me that people would spend more time just fighting in enemy ships instead of dogfighting (which I think is more of what ea is going for)
"Why can't I get out of my ship inside the enemy ship!?" That feature in the original BF2 was incredibly unrealistic but it was the mid 2000,s so no one cared. It's not like someone could just get out of a ship inside the ENEMY ship unless you're some Jedi or something. AND the inside had one tiny hangar, a room with ALL of the turret controls, and 3 rooms connected to it that just happen to have AL of the ships primary functions.
Space battles are meant to be fought in a ship on space, not on board a capital ship. That literally only ever happened once in the entire Star Wars cinema history. And it was Jedi and not soldiers

When people talk about space combat. No one actually cares if there are 4 ships around or 20. If you're stuck in a ship it's classed as linear. It's boring. Why not control missile launchers or turrets on big ships? To get involved in combat without the skills to fly. To be able to clear the objectives without having to be in space. How many people are good at flying, shooting and maneuvering? Give people choices! Not ship choices! But choices on how to approach the combat scenario.
Last bit to make people see the picture. Would you rather fly outside of the death star, do the death star run and that's it. OR! Would you rather start in space, be able to land inside of the death star and take it out from the inside. Disabling turrets, shields etc?

Camping? So you're saying that the 10-20 people who stay inside are getting an advantage when you'll end up having people stay outside doing the hard damage. If given choices, the only balancing is how much turrets, ships etc do damage. The rest of the balancing is done by the player base as with any game.

I understand why people are skeptical, but come on. At least give it a chance. If the biggest problem with this is that you can't land in some of the hangars, I think that's pretty indicative of the quality. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe it will be terrible, but at least give it a chance before blindly hating on it despite the game being everything we asked for (or at least I assume so from what I've seen; Again, it's not out yet). I hated 2015's Battlefront, but you can clearly see how much effort is going into this and how thy're trying to do exactly what we want. It's honestly kind of saddening that people are picking this apart to find even the smallest problems.

A lot of people are saying "Why can't DICE do what could be done in 2005?"
Well, DICE is trying to make an authentic Star Wars game and boarding then destroying capital ships from the inside in the same manner as Battlefront II just can't be done and isn't authentic.
Capital ships are very very large. For example, a standard Star Destroyer is 5200 feet long. The components to the ship would be located throughout it, and it wouldn't just be a hangar with 3 rooms closely attached that for some reason house all of the major components of the ship. If DICE did this now they wouldn't be able to get away with it. It would be considered cheap and unauthentic. It was acceptable to make an extremely small ship interior and call it a star destroyer in 2005 because the technology wasn't good enough to make anything better. If DICE implemented ship boarding, the entire Star Destroyer would be the size of a map, not to mention that all of the components wouldn't just be right next to each other, they'd be all throughout the entire ship.
They are able to implement this authentically, but it wouldn't make for good gameplay. Once you land you'd have to go throughout a ship the size of an entire map to locate each system of the ship. It would be mostly running, and there's a reason that we haven't seen this actually done in Star Wars. It's very unrealistic and unfeasible. We have seen a boarding party board a ship in order to kill take it over and capture it, or to capture a specific target, but not blow it up from the inside as that is near impossible.

No one loves loves the old battlefront 2 more than I did, but I have to say that apart from all the complaints on the gameplay and how it's "not the same". This looks beautiful and detailed and nuanced and fun. The balance of various ships and AI frigates and heroes looks wonderful. I was a skeptic after EAs battlefront 1 but it looks like dice nailed it this time.

The area of effect on Poe's ship is a really great idea, because it will encourage players to fight together in formation, something which we didn't really see in OG Battlefront II.

To be honest im happy theres no boarding ships because 1. It would take away the dog fighting focus and 2. you didn't see wedge, lando, or any other pilots take over ships from inside, cause thats not what your there for as a pilot, you fly and shoot and move on!
those visuals are astonishing but to be fair the battles looks boring. I think this game needs the old battlefront space battle where fleets where oposing each other in formation amd you need to go deep into the enemy fleet to complete objectives. I miss the tactical aspects

Yes the graphics and sounds are amazing. But it's the FEELS that I'm more concerned about - how it FEELS to fly the Millennium Falcon. In the movies it is said to be one of the fastest ships in the galaxy. Yet in BF, it seems so damn sluggish.

While everyone is arguing about the old Battlefront 2 space battles, I'm wondering where the B-Wing and TIE Defender are?
Why the hell is everyone flying so slow? What are these just noobs or was this game designed by snails? and where are the special trick maneuvers?
They look slow probably because:
1. It's just an illusion because the rest of the structures are giant,
2. Lock-ons,
3. That's how fast the fighters can actually go.
Compare to the original BF 2. That got the speed right. This games ships at top speed is like the Originals ships at the lowest speed.
Thecrazygamer2 it's the size of the map,interceptor is the fastest class and the only reason why it look so slow is because of how big you're surroundings are. And that maneuver bullshit from the last game you can do manually :)
Things to improve imo a) are cutscenes for small objectives necessary b ) frigates just blowing up in an explosion, looks lazy & stupid visually c ) I would love to see capitals and frigates at least trying to fight back rather than being HP punching bags.

The only reason the original Battlefront 2 had that was because of the graphics, it makes it easier to add more content with worse graphics because you don't have to focus on depth and amazing gameplay.

Just be happy with what they are making and stop comparing this game to Battlefront 2005 they are totally different companies and the Pandemic which made the old one is out of business as seen in other comments, while this Battlefront is made by EA and DICE.

Not really, your client doesn't need to give a damn about anything but the room you are in, any rooms connected to it, and the players in those rooms as well as the overall status of the ship.
All those other areas and the players in them don't need to be rendered, tracked or anything.
Being inside a ship would be easier on your system then outside it.

If this was pre alpha they better get to work, Beta usually takes months to a year, and alphas often even more.
Honestly, at this time the game is most likely in Beta, the only reason why they don't say that is because Beta is a marketing tool these days where players are granted access to a near 100% complete build.
Which also means that at this time they are unlikely to add content, just fix issues.
There is still a small chance that the B-wing is in, its just not here due to major bugs, but that is not likely.

I'm pretty disappointed, to be honest. There is nothing new here from any other battlefield game. It is ships flying. 1 team going for objectives the other team stopping them. Why can't we have capital ships actually involved in the battle, that actually take realistic damage to sub-systems? instead of this percentage bullshit. If fighters target a ship's engine, destroy the engine, if they target a turret, destroy that turret... This is just the same old vanilla crap with better graphics

I think they should increase the speed of the ships and add a little more vibration on screen during first person view. And add a mix of some epic Star Wars music to playout during the matches+have different scenarios happen so the map can change slightly like that scene when the republic ship crashed into the other republic ship in the trailer released the other day
Oh and guys Galactic Conquest wasn't unbalanced in the original Battlefront 2 (according to players who have played it) and it is something I want to experience. Maybe a mode where a few players have to fly troop transports filled with other players who decided to get in, some of those players can man the turrets on the sides of the transports whilst player piloted starfighters attack the enemy ships and defend the troop transports then they land in the hanger and could try to take control of the bridge, rescue the hostage/payload(depending on mode), destroy the power core and/or sabotage the coolent systems. To those that say "it's unbalanced" just open your eyes to the possibilities and besides if anything doesn't seem to work then it can be fixed

So far this looks to be pretty fun, the explosions for the Imperial cruisers could be better but it can be overlooked if the gameplay is fun.

Looks good but some things still bug me:
1. Bombers are now Multi-function Anti-Spacecraft......
2. The Heroes look way to powerful
3. Objectives are fine, but look kind of unprotected
4. Two or more player Crafts are now completly gone
5. It is kind of weird seeing Hereos from different eras
6. There are no hardpoints on cruisers or frigates which can be destroyed
7. You dont start from a carrier, but instead just spawn into space (it kills the immersion for me)
I KNOW that people are fed up with people comparing it with the old games, because those were from different (better) developers and from a different time. But please consider that we are in freaking 2017! We really should expect more from games these days and not cooperate with everything.

Here's an unpopular fact among the toxic community that calls themselves Battlefront fans. Landing in a capital ship and fighting on foot would kill the immersion of a space battle. It simply would not work for a multiplayer game as big as this one.
Austin Jones I disagree. Look at WarHawk for Ps3. The best part is being able to get into a ship, fly way across the map, land at enemy base, and raise hell. At the minimum that should be available. Maybe not landing in a cruiser, but open land.

one: i'm not a huge fan of heroes from different eras in the same battle. i think the reasoning for that is fairly obvious
two: i feel like the explosion that signifies the destruction of the light cruisers is pretty underwhelming. the destruction of the frigates in ps2 BF II had more visual spectacle than this.

My expectations for this game are sooooooooo low.
I see most people are talking about hanger landings and I still play the og battlefront 2 online and it works fine so I agree. What I'm more concerned about is that I'm not seeing evasive manoeuvres at all. No ships rolling or flipping around to dodge missiles. That was what made the space battles fun for me. Managing your ship energy to use for dodging missiles and getting behind enemies.
God the dogfighting in these games is soo arcade and horrible. Not expecting a simulator but this is just so basic...

I think you failed to understand the concept behind it. You fly into the enemies ship and blow it from the inside to win the game. To call that tactic shows how this generations of sw battlefront players are autistic . period.
+MrGamer9520 What, you think people didn't try to camp back in the day? Sounds like you never played the originals. There were defense turrets in the ships (which automatically respawned after a while), and if you died you couldn't respawn in the enemy ship unless you had brought a transport (which was in a big open area and easy to destroy). Furthermore, the entire enemy team respawns in their ship and there were AI bots and you'd easily get overrun.
This also wasn't a call of duty type game where you hide for a little bit and then you're back to full health--that health system enables camping and it's why camping is such a problem nowadays. The regular old-school health system makes camping difficult because each time you get hit you lose health and don't get it back unless you leave your camping spot to pick up health the enemy dropped or found a healing droid (which could be destroyed).

Shut up about the whole docking into blowing up the inside of the ship, I seen other extra footages and you actually can get in the ship but you can't dock inside of it, you can only fly through it and cause minimum damage
(plus it seems a little too OP for that old game mechanic. To dock and destroy the inside of the ship because everyone will try to destroy the inside of the ship)
It's not really op if a 5 man team tries to sabotage the enemy ship while 30 enemy players continue to spawn in it

why would it be OP? it was in battlefront 2 ffs. do you even know how long it takes to destroy a ship from the inside on that game?
+Darkness121 And you don't understand game design. The reason people camp so much nowadays is because so many games have that shitty Call of Duty health system where they just hide for a little bit and they're back to full health, and this encourages camping.
With regular health systems, camping isn't as big of a problem because eventually they'll have to leave the camping spot to search for health or stay and die because the health didn't just regenerate. In the original Battlefront 2, you also couldn't spawn in the enemy ship unless you brought the transport there and it was easy to destroy.
And the fact that you would spawn anywhere in the ship meant it was easy to surround a camping enemy. And the ship had respawning defense turrets, and the entire team spawns in the ship.
looks amazing and the gameplay looks super smooth! my only wish is that we get too get out of our ships and board other ships

SavageRicktator slow ships, not too much freedom to maneuvre them, is like a car game, where are the loopings barrel roll and that things you should be able to do on a spaceship battle. Why the dogfighting is so absurdly slow? Seriously, if you out space battle you need speed, you need a lot more of direction capabilities is boring because that is a limit to the attack and defensive possibilities.
Is shallow, is almost on rails, and you can't feel anything, there aren't thrilling battles.

I think the best compromise we can get from ea is something along the lines of 2 phases of space battles then a phase in a ship. Would be cool if they could connect them fluidly instead of with a cut scene. And honestly, it seems to me that people would spend more time just fighting in enemy ships instead of dogfighting (which I think is more of what ea is going for)

That feature in the original BF2 was incredibly unrealistic but it was the mid 2000,s so no one cared. It's not like someone could just get out of a ship inside the ENEMY ship unless you're some Jedi or something. AND the inside had one tiny hangar, a room with ALL of the turret controls, and 3 rooms connected to it that just happen to have AL of the ships primary functions.

Space battles are meant to be fought in a ship on space, not on board a capital ship. That literally only ever happened once in the entire Star Wars cinema history. And it was Jedi and not soldiers
