Which is Best? 54v Li-Ion DeWalt Electric Chainsaw vs. Two-Stroke Husqvarna
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 25 июл 2024
- A concise comparison between two 16" chainsaws - a Dewalt powered by a 54v Li-Ion battery and the other A Husqvarna powered by a 2 stroke gasoline petrol engine. Tested on limbs of Birch, Ash and Oak.
Please note: This isn't a guide on how to use chainsaws. Don't use one unless you've been shown how to by an expert. For one thing, I'm not using much PPE (only safety glasses). You should use the proper gear! I'm a grown up who uses powered cutting machines daily, and I'm happy to accept the personal risk of the odd bit of logging without armor. Please don't leave lots of comments saying I should be wearing PPE. I know I should - I just don't. Хобби
*Coming up on having had this saw for a year....am a casual user and bought it to cut up sections for bowl blanks. Easy to start, **Bestfor.Garden** also recommend even after storage for a couple of months. Simple chain tension adjustment. Just cut up some 20" Osage Orange, including ripping bolts in half (at an angle). Like butter!*
Great review. Thanks for taking your time. Just bought meself a Dewalt, and I was practicly born in Husqvarna, which is actually a small village in Sweden for those who didn't know.
Details please on what you are using to hold the logs. Homemade or is it purchasable? Thank you
Had the exact same Husky years ago... now getting the Dewalt. I seriously hated 2 stroke mixing and mess etc. Already have 2 9Ah batteries and when I go camping can charge it.
Should I get this or a Stihl 170 as a chainsaw beginner, for trimming bigger branches of trees?
really good video :)
I love my Dewalt tools but when those 54v batteries need replacing after 4-5 years and you have as many as I have it’s a truly painful experience.
Never used a chainsaw before and I was about to buy a 2 stroke husvarna for my new property, but then It occurred to me that I already have flexvolt batteries from my other dewalt tools and I wanted to see how strong battery chainsaws really are. This video didn't disappoint.
I think I'm getting the DCM585.
How is it holding up so far?
What about the plastic tensioner on the DeWalt? I've had them fail on corded chainsaws which could turn the DeWalt chainsaw into a £500 doorstop. I love their power tools but the lack of a metal chain tensioner worries me.
Thanks Jamal. I've not ever thought about it, to be honest. Mine has been fine, probably had it about three years, although I'd describe my use of it as "light". It's normally fairly easy to find spares for Dewalt stuff online, but I've not had to look for a chain tensioner so I don't know. Might be worth googling about to see if it's a known issue on these units.
i had experienced a broken chain cover on dewalt due to running it with lot of chain slack.. but luckily its only $20 including shipping in ebay.. just remember to always make sure the chain is properly tighten and not too loose..
@@TheAmazingAdventuresOfMiles hi, thanks for the review. apparently other people have mentioned about the plastic tensioner and also that the bar and chain get slack after a few minutes of use and that the mounting point of the bar melt from high temp. also there is not steel bucking spikes. I was about to order the chainsaw but those reviews put me off. have you had any updates on this?
'Gdayiles! I'm with you. My wife has a Stihl battery trim saw with a 4 inch bar and I have a big Stihl MS 440 Magnum AND a 110 volt Workz electric saw. Just depends on what's to be sawed. The 440 is for BIG stuff and the Workz is for about anything else and the wife can trim and not kill herself with the little Stihl. Hope all is well, Thanks and God Bless!
Fair enough
No one mentions the Husqvarna could last for 30 years. It will handle brute force and wont let you down, all weather, cold and very hot! A remnant of past Swedish mentality. Rip Sweden
Iam after a chainsaw can't make my mind up but the chain oil leaking problem puts me off the dewalt
классный обзор!!
Where did you buy the log holder?
this isn't the first time i've seen a 60v saw whoop a gas saw.
The Flexvolt destroys the Husqvarna...
the husky bogged down on that oak, and the dewalt was like, bitch, i'm a dewalt!
like a hot knife through butter.

Cool I like the electric
Might i add if you have solar off or on grid power battery charge is free. Sell one Miles and buy some PPE !
Thanks for the comments Mike, yes actually this battery was charged by hydro so it was free. I do own all the chainmail, and it does come out when I wish to use it :)
I guess this in reality is the petrol vs electric. The world over. If you want constant running without recharging by the petrol. If you want quieter, emmision free, and probably more touque buy electric. If your not in the dewalt 54v eco system then it's a big jump to buy a saw with in reality atleast 2 batteries and a charger. But if you already have 54v range batteries then they are on par and personally I am now buying the 54v for almost everything I can
Exactly - I got a flexvolt tool as they don't make an 18v version, and now it's like "well why wouldn't i spend more and get flexvolt power?"
Qualty test bud . Were the chains the same. Dewalt spat out some saw dust.
I can carry the electric in the SUV - NO gas smell !!
Mam wrażenie że w husqvarna jest nie ostry łańcuch
I am an old alpha male lol I want an electric chainsaw.
Where’s your safety equipment?
Please see the video description :)
If you can’t see that the Dewalt is much superior then there’s something wrong with you bro. Don’t try to save face with a Husqvarna. It did not beat it in one category.
haha yes - there is so much wrong with me I wouldn't know where to begin. However, I was trying to be fair and objective, and yes I think the Dewalt does have the edge. And I use the Dewalt a lot more these days, not so much because it's got a bit more grunt (which it does) but because I can charge it from solar (making it free and emmisionless to use) and also its a bit easier on my back. I find a few hours cuttings rounds with the dewalt is just less strenuous, can't quite put my finger on why, maybe because it's not as thrashy as a two-stroke so I'm not bracing and tensing so much.
Husk blade blunt
both chains brand new out of the box for the test.
just bought a dewalt it jumps all over the place there rubbish il stick with my sthil chain saw
I'm an old alpha male and I have more sense than to use either my stihl or dewalt without PPE
That is good Mike, definitely the most sensible course of action.
Dewalt is better.
And you’re pronouncing Husqvarna wrong
That doesn't surprise me :)
electric seems like a joke
Well, I hope this video illustrates that electric chainsaws are actually very good machines and comparable to their equivalent-sized two stroke. Of course a larger two stroke machine, like a big trunker would be more powerful but so would a larger electric one. These are two modest every-day type machines for simple logging. Thanks for watching!
I think you are the joke unless you give a little more explanation on why you make that statement
