Das ist wahrer Motorsport
What a race
Back when experimenting, imagination and talent put the fast cars together, rather than daddies deep pockets.
Was there with some mates not long after we had left school great days at lydden
Superb!
Love it!!!
To this day I've never found out what engine and drive train that little Mk3 Escort was running, though I do seem to recall it was a time I first heard about Gartrac 4WD. Any info, please, anyone?
I’ve read they used Gartrac and XTrac systems and Ford BDA engines ranging from 1.9 - 2.1 litres mostly build by Zackspeed
@@richarddutchholland4780 That's right. Schanche did have alot of input into the 4wd design along with Xtrac. Engine was a turbo BDA (BDT) with 550bhp+. Fantastic motorsport
@pookey1967 Now that's a detailed reply!
@pookey1967 amazing response - that's the level of detail that's eluded me for well over 30 years, and yet I always wanted to know. You, Sir, deserve a pint 🍻 Cheers
@@richarddutchholland4780 BDT not BDA
Wonder what engine drivetrain setup is in the beetle?
AB Bodyworx think most of the engine was Porsche pieces and the 4 wd was mostly homebuilt. I dont know what gearbox they used but i know that a beetle from Finland at about that time used a gearbox from some Formula 1 car.
@@soffosbackan I never seen a F1 4wd yet
@@MrMrliamo I think Harry Ferguson who built the tractor made a 4wd F1 car. I think it might even have won a race.
Porsche 911 turbo mated into Audi running gear I was told by a mate that worked for Gollop Saab in Canterbury back in the 90’s. I can’t say it 100% true, but it’s what I was told.
There was one running around with Subaru ends grafted onto VW bottom end as specs deemed had to retain Manufacturers block but Beetles have no block just crankcase.barrels and heads. So it was a 4 cyl Quad cammed 16v turbo charged water-cooled fuel injected 4wd beetle
