Watching reruns now. James Arness contacted me in 2009 when I advised him that I was one of his biggest Black fans since 1956 when we got our first television in South Carolina which had only one channel (of course we were only allowed to watch until 6:00pm and the adults watched until the station "signed off" at Midnight); but what fun it was to listen since it was a very, very small house.

Good old Gunsmoke. A family favorite on Monday nights (CBS) at 8:00 P.M. I remember it in the mid 60's onward. I would dress in my cowboy outfit, strap two six guns and a Marx Rifle that looked like a Winchester and sit on the floor and help Matt Dillon shoot bad guys. I can still hear my dad saying at the conclusion: "Ok cowboy, off to bed." I can even remember some of the episodes having sad endings and making me cry as a kid. Another great video Steve.

I watched many an episode with my parents though mostly in the 1970s. I think the scenes with Festus and Doc arguing with each other were my favorite part of the show.

I love Gunsmoke, it's one of my favoriteTV shows. I watch the reruns whenever they're on but I have never seen any of the Gunsmoke movies air on TV. I loved all the characters. I just always wished Matt would've married Kitty.

from the beginning, i noticed that my viewers always liked my themed videos the best, but they were my least favorite to do because they were so time consuming. over time, they've gotten easier to do and now i enjoy doing them. i'm glad you enjoy them and thanks for the feedback, Whitt!

I bumped into Milburn Stone as he was leaving the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs in the early '60s. A few years later my dad was in Las Vegas in one of the hotel bars and found Ken Curtis having a drink there. I'd first seen him in the TV show Rip Cord.

Gunsmoke is one of our family favorites. We usually watch a few episodes every day. I'm a huge fan of Miss Kitty. My standard poodle is named Kitty. I like to think that she got her sass & spunk from Miss Kitty.

By the time the show ended, Doc Adams probably cared for more gunshot victims than any other MD in the USA. After Gunsmoke, Adams relocated his practice to prohibition era Chicago where shootings were rampant.

Buck Taylor's dad is Dub Taylor, an actor. Ken Curtis was a member of "The Sons of the Pioneers", and former son-in law of John Ford, director. His ashes were spread on the prairie near his ranch in Fresno. (My sister worked for the animal doctor who took care of his dog). Supposedly, James Arness and John Wayne were friends,; that's why Wayne gave the opening intro to Gunsmoke's first season.
