So depending on when you're watching this video, you'll see a slightly different version because we had to mute the audio during i think 20 seconds of the truck chase sequence. The music presented a copyright issue, so the simple solution was to just mute the audio with RUclips's tools. 🤷🏻♂️
The most heartbreaking thing for me was the date. Steven not knowing how to order steak because he's vegan, that expression of pain and loss on his face. You are intrigued by what is happening but you also feel so much empathy for Steven. The credits are so good too.
One thing that many people miss: his accent doesn't even have to be on point, because Steven is probably not the primary persona and didn't really grow up in Britain. So it's more of an approximation of what his Steven persona thinks a British person should sound like. Oscar Isaac knocked this one out of the park. A true joy to witness!

This episode had two Egyptian songs and there is an Egyptian director and actor in the cast... This is the first time I feel that Egyptians like me have been represented in a piece of art especially on a mainstream platform without insulting us or our history... Thank you marvel!
Apart from the cheesy forced comedic punchlines and funny acting in between otherwise serious scenes? It is very much MCU like, except for the gore. Don't get me wrong, Isaac is brilliant, but his responses to situations were hilarious. Fix those and this could have been a great show.
Something I loved is how they put us in the perspective of Steven throughout the entire episode. Because Marc is the main host body, and the one who was resurrected by Khonshu, it puts us the viewer in Steven’s shoes as if we’re experiencing his mental troubles and questioning of reality with him. Very genius imo. And I’m sure we’ll get to see Marc’s comic origin and becoming MK (or a version of it) through flashbacks. As someone who’s been a fan of Moon Knight for years, I was incredibly happy with how this first episode was, and love that they saved the suit reveal towards the end. Honestly gets a 10/10 from me
I'm also really impressed with Isaac's acting. The last thing I saw him in was Dune where he played Duke Leto Atreides, and this Steven Grant character is a completely different person. It's like the two characters were played by two different actors.
I'm glad Oscar Isaac did such a good job with this. Also, from what I've seen on twitter, systems who have DID have said that it's pretty accurate in terms of DID, with some minor exaggerations. Also, I just want to offer Steven a hug. Also probably Marc too since well, DID usually come from traumatic experiences. Oscar Isaac is the best of course.
Loved that first episode. Also great direction from Mohamed Diab. Love the Egyptian atmosphere and tone of the show. Really different and new for the MCU like a breath of fresh air. And Oscar's performance was sooo good. I agree with everything you said!
I really want to like it. I loved the more spandexy costume look from the comics has a lot of the time. But that doesn't translate well like with most costumes going to live action.
I identified the meaning of that scene where Ethan Hawke looked at his tatoo and while holding Stevens hand and it kept moving and didn't decide precisely while watching it..... It's because the the different identities he has,Marc spector's identity has a lot of crimes and the tattoo should turn red,but Steven grant's identity is very innocent and has no crimes,as both are in the same person, the tattoo is not able to distinguish and decide his fate
No, it’s because his dead. (Died, and came back.) Crimes or no crimes also has nothing to do with the judgement. (Human morals, and laws have less to do with judgement.)
@@grinfo5561 nah,it's exactly what I told, both the personalities have different approach to stuff, one chooses violence and the other chooses peace, that's why Harrow said that he has chaos in him,see the comics
You missed part in the starting shot where they show Steven's fish "gus" has only one fin, and after all that car chase sequence when he get back home he sees fish has two fins, means it's not his "gus", that's why he goes to the fish shop and shopkeeper lady tells him 1 day ago you came and you were asking for fish with 1 fin, so that means marc came to buy new fish and he replaced "gus" with new fish, means something suspicious and horrible happened with little cutie "gus"😂😂
I've just finished watching MoonKnight's EP1, it's already been started showing us Steven's struggle due to his dissociative identity disorder, I thought it'll take at least 3-4 eps for Steven to accept his other personalities. I like how Oscar carried English accent pretty well
Just wanted to quickly say, 'personalities' is considered a harmful term in the plural community due to stigma and misinformation- 'alters' or 'identities' are more preferred terms!
@@starfallstreams wdym by that? The personality disorder means that the person has multiple personalities. What are you talking about being harmful? What should I call a rat? A mouse?
I enjoyed the Reel Rejects reaction and yours is on point as well. I've been reading the Moon Knight comics for years now and I was impressed with how they displayed his illness. The scariest scenes to me weren't the Konshu scenes or monster chase it was the fact that Steven (I'm Steven too but spelled with a pH Stephen) would wake up in random places with no memory of how he get there. That's scary as hell. Oscar crushed it. I'm really on-board now especially after that ending. Great job guys have a good day. See you on episode 2.
What a first episode!! I loved everything about it. Steven Grant is such a tortured soul, and I adore him. Ethan Hawke as a villain was surprising to see. I don't care that we saw Moon Knight for, like, 15 seconds. That ending was badass. Can't wait for more!
I felt SO unbelievably bad for Steven as the whole episode progressed dude. Oscar Isaac dude, knocking it out of the park Episode 1. So excited for the rest of this series!
You know what's honestly sad to think about, Steven's fish died and he didn't even know about it. He looks like he really likes that fish and that crao is just genuinely sad.
I'm loving this new series already, Oscar Isaac is freaking amazing playing both characters in the same body: shy, sheepish, awkward, and sleep-deprived Stephen Grant and the ruthless, confident, action-driven, badass mercenary Marc Spector, and of course the moment he surrenders control and transforms into the nocturnal vigilante, Moon Knight, was an awesome moment. The fact that this is a standalone project and the first character driven story since the first Iron Man in 2008 is very, very exciting, and it requires no rewatch of the already established MCU, so that's pretty cool. I can't wait for more!!!
The episode was fantastic, the only minor negative that I could find was the voice of Khonshu. Personally, I wanted Khonshu to sound more threatening, like few words, more threat. Josh Brolin’s deep voice would have been perfect, but that’s just me
I love this show I like how we're trying to figure out what happens right with him and how in almost all reflections it's 3 I don't know much about moon knight but I love this chaos type hero theme...omg he's like venom
Loved that they had WHAM! - Wake Me Up playing in the chase scene. So many lyrics can symbolize situations with the identities and situations like the title "wake me up", going solo, etc.
Same. Been a fan of the character for years and it's great to see others enjoying the character as well. Now, I just need them to play King Harvest's Dancin' In The Moonlight or Thin Lizzy's version.
The little details are the best. For example: when the creature tries so hard to get to Steven, then when he turns into Moon Knight the creature tries to get away and gets pulled back into the bathroom. Hilarious.
The transition between Steven to Marc and Steven again reminds me of WandaVision when the whole episode got edited out and replaced with a new scene. It's brilliant. I want more! *slams beer glass*
from the first time with wanda vision I always tougth "this is the best show I've ever seen" and that keep on going with all the D-M shows and the nice thing is that is always true because they give us shows that are so different one from another that they are all "the best" at the same time, or at least this is how I feel
Great reaction, guys. Thanks. Ethan Hawke conceived of Arthur's broken glass in his sandals in the opening scene. From the later exposition scenes of Khonshu castigating Steven for his inapt supplanting ascensions over His Avatar Marc: I imagine Arthur utilizes the painful sensory stimulation during his time awake to prevent his supplantion by the alternate identities of which he also suffers consequent of his being an Avatar for Ammit.
