While I share the sentiments of most commenters about the wheel choice for the K5, I will say that they drove that thing hard (even with the nice paint) and that supercharged big block is badass. Respect.
Such great knowledge and craftsmanship paired with THE worst taste 😂 it’s honestly such a trope with shows like this they; cater mostly to the dying boomers who can afford to waste their money on tasteless ventures - can’t take it with you! Best buy an orange corvette! (ex.)
My first ride was an '87 Silverado in the late 90's. and my Dad had a mint '89 Blazer a few years ago. Loved that thing but started having significant issues and as a 17 year old did not have the funds or skill to fix. Many great trips to the woods.
I am in the process of rebuilding a 1977 K5 similar to this. It is currently completely disassembled with the body about to be removed from the frame. Main differences will be a Dana 60 up front, disc brakes in rear on the 14 bolt and a Dart 496 CID engine with a Holly EFI setup and no super charger.
@Ucallit 71 lol true that. Lol but you would think tho that they spent thousands of dollars to build this rig and didn't think to register or insure it ?? Lol 😆😆😆
Should have followed the K5 with the short box to show how much better IFS and factory fuel injection work off road. That short box would have easily gone everywhere the K5 did , just with smaller tires , a smoother ride, and no stalling in the middle of the puddle....
I loved my 96. I always wanted to put a trailing arm suspension in the rear, just to have the best front suspension GM had at the time and the best rear suspension they ever had.
Also on the 88 to 98s......the cab mounts rot.Out which also cause the doors to sag....been there done that....i had a 92 gmc Sierra ext cab 4x4 fully loaded....probably would still have it if the door didn't litterly. Fall off from rot... the truck was sooo rotted.i blew the reverse drum in the tranny n it was just took much to fix. I have now a 2004 gmc Sierra crew cab 4x4 that I had for almost 12 years. She's only got 106,316 on It. I had a ton of parts replaces over the years but she's a beast
They can’t seem to keep hosts on these shows. I count 6 in the last 10 years just for this show, countless more when you count up the rest of the power nation shows.
All the work on it to go mudding, could have been a show truck. If u want to build another square body, I'll volunteer mine , needs work . Just bought it this year but my job has me working 7 days a week with no time to do it right now. Did sound nice when you pressed the gas pedal down.
That TBI is getting a new cam, intake, Vortec heads and a set of headers. With some ECU upgrades my brother was able to get 300 wheel HP out of the 350TBI with just in expensive bolt ons and a tune.
Super nice build, only issue is it has a carb.LS or LT1 LT4,the other problem I seen was when spraying the fiberglass top they didn't mask off were the window seals go that hold the glass in.@11:26
Gosh this is gonna suck not seein Jeremy on the show anymore he was great and I'm gonna miss him but there'll be another good co host on the show that'll do good and teach people new and helpful tricks gonna miss him though I've watched power nation since I was a baby and it's gonna be weird not having him around but hopefully he does good with his shop and makes some sweet trucks and or cars
I loved my 1986 Dodge Ramcharger, didn't do anything with the little 318 2 barrel motor, but it had the torque to climb a tree. Got the same MPG around town or on the Freeway.
I would have put the AC back in these trucks are insanley hot with all that fiberglass roof in back, throw a vintage air unit in, best 1400 bucks ive ever spent, no more fogged up windows in winter
bradley younger yes, the original small block, solid front axle, decent automatic transmission, very long production run, massive aftermarket support. I’m a Ford fan but the square body rules!
I suppose I'll put a target on my back but as an old dirt biker(50+ years on a bike) I just don't understand taking something this nice off road and beating hell out of it. Maybe it's the poor farm boy within me but you can take a dirt bike and your buddy(and his bike) and have just as much fun or more without breaking the bank. OK guys you can let me have it (+) or (-).....bring it on! I had a '79 Bronco with the 400M and a 3" lift on it. Had a lot of fun with it but the rust maggots quit holding hands and I am not a body man.....engines/trans/rear ends.....not bodies. Had Edelbrock Performer, Holley, recurved distributor, headers, etc.....it was a tank. I sold it to my buddy and got an '86 with the FI 302. No, it's not like the '79 but it suits my needs with a chip, distributor work, headers, and small lift with 31" tires. I keep it mint...the only problem is when I put gas in it. I get about 4-6 tire kickers around while I'm trying to fill up and, of course, they ask what I want for it....I say, "I don't want to sell." They keep at it until I give a price....then, they go from how great it looks to pissing and moaning that, "It's an old truck....whine, bitch." It still smells new inside and has zero rust and original paint that shines. Some days a fella just can't win....I really like the old Chevy square Blazers like you have there. These boys were damn lucky they didn't hyrdo-lock the Blazer....I had a friend who did that with his 460.....you should have seen the carnage in that engine. We saved the heads and intake.
You guys @ Truck Tech could have choose some better off road tires for that late 80s K5 Blazer & luv red 88 Chevy pickup wouldn't change a thing expect put a topper on it.
I really wish any & all shows which feature off road driving would take the extra second to explain to those who do not know that, Anytime you put a vehicle into water & MUD, YOU MUST CLEAN EVERY BIT OF IT OFF OR ELSE YOU WILL DESTROY THE VEHICLE WITH RUST & ROTT=PRESSURE WASHER & AFTER IT DRIES, SPRAY WITH A 50/50 MIXTURE OF DEISEL & BAR & CHAIN OIL TO PRESERVE YOUR VEHICLE & TO COAT ANY & ALL SCRATCHES. Far to many people take out a truck & do not clean it & it ends up all rotted out & destroyed!!! So long Brother, Enjoy your shop!!!
I bet it is awesome to spend tens of thousands of someone else’s money.. work in a state of the art shop with brand new tools and brand new parts.. and then go thrash a 30 thousand dollar k5 you just built... the common man can only dream..
Yeah its not exactly real world to most guys, if that was my money and time in that truck I'd be treating it a little better than that, the guy wasn't even worried that it might have pulled in some water into the engine, he just kept cranking on it to start, what a shame.
Personal preference but I like the style of the 88-91 front clip (headlights and grille) as opposed to the 84-87 that are vertical. Not sure why Jeremy or LT went back to that earlier style on this Blazer, but I guess the keyword(s) are “Personal Preference”.
Just saw this video . Not too bad , and since opinions are like armpits , I'd offer some as well . Wheels/tires setup look ghetto , go smaller on the wheel and more rubber . Instead of Holley carburetor , go with Rochester quadra-jet , way more reliable .
Street tires, and no windshield wipers. That wasnt mud, that was water over a road. Not to mention the "mud" washed right off on it's on. That means its water.
Wait...they did all that to the blazer, including going to a ff 14 bolt rear, a built big block, a 4L80E, and a super charger, but didn't upgrade to a dana 60 front axle? Did I miss something here? At first I thought "well maybe they're on a budget" but then they rolled in that what, 11k-15k big block? But I at least have to hand it to them, they did take it offroad and actually got it in some deeper stuff, most people with a truck like that it just sits in a garage they won't even haul a load or engage the 4x4.
I had this car at the garage. When you accelerate suddenly for the pedal to touch the ground, the engine don't pull much power and the sound is very little but when you accelerate gradually for the pedal to touch the ground then is runs normally with the require sound....can you please suggest what might be wrong with the car?

What’s the price tag on a older truck in that condition nowadays?
Do y'all keep or sell the vehicles instead of destroying them like other shows.
@@fl_atv_riders4455 they sell them off to help their budget.
I think it looks pretty dang good just the way it is just - a little bit of lighting and maybe a roll bar and KC lights in a skid plate
70's-90s K5's,Jimmys, ramchargers and broncos are the dopest

Thanks for hosting Jeremy, appreciate the knowledge. Have fun with the shop!
Should've left the 89 front end on it instead of the Griswold special
Jeff M should’ve drove it off a cliff
TRD sucks
2:40 this is where a rag and a magnet comes in handy to help find bondo.
A clever trick
Those credit card sized magnets like Rockauto sends out work great too.

I recently bought my first pickup which is a 97 gmc k1500 with the 350 vortex. It has a 6” lift and 35” tires and it is a beast that I enjoy to drive
Those Old K5's Will Blast Through Just About Anything!!!
The most fun I have ever had was in the mud with my friends . Good luck Jeremy
I have a '97 Sierra K1500, my baby,... can't wait to watch this series PowerNation!
Should’ve called this episode how to destroy a 89 k5 taking it off road wasn’t the bad part it looked better in stock form
Need to trade them chrome spinny boys out for some real wheels and tires
nicholas turney need to scrap the whole thing

STACEY DAVID did this years ago! Stacey David who was on TRUCKS, built Big Blaze. A Blazer like this but it was orange.
For the red truck, twin turbo LS swapped slammed on an AWD set up would be pretty sweet!

A lot of why the Blazer rides so rough is the leaf spring front suspension.

Should’ve tested the red truck in that big hole, bet it would’ve made it though most of that.
