    Can the OKC Thunder win the title next season?

    • @wolfbane610
      @wolfbane610 Месяц назад +3

      They will. Their offense and defense difference will be remarkable. If they have no major injuries, their point production will be close to 130 while the defense will keep opponents at or under 110. I can't imagine what will be their highest point total. Then they will have at least 3 more 1st round picks in a deep 2025 draft, one of which could be extremely high. "The Clippers pick swap." Nothing can stop them. They are becoming an "all-star" team, fast.

    Knicks vs. Thunder 2025 Finals would be the spiritual resurgence the championship series needs. All the headlines and star power would go CRAZY. JDub definitely took a step back in the playoffs. But a big part of that was due to Giddey and how teams defended him. A big part of Dub & SGA’s game is driving to the basket but with Giddey on the floor the Mavs were able to sag off Josh and clog the paint. SGA was able to adapt and adjust but you could tell Dub was struggling. Switching Giddey for a 40% 3pt shooter and Dub getting that experience, instantly improves that. Also Dub was defending Kyrie a lot during that series, with Caruso available to guard Kyrie or help defend him I imagine Dubs game will open up offensively

    Caruso is a defensive gem who also adds toughness and team chemistry, both are great additions.
    The Thunder look great on paper and barring injuries, and they should make it to the finals.
    I see the Mavs addition of Clay as a potential overpriced mistake and I like the toughness OKC just added with these two guys.

    Another reason I’m glad the Knicks are in the East! The NBA transition away from the Splash Brothers, KD, Lebron is nearly done! These giants of the last two decades are still around, but they aren’t able to have the same impact! Lebron appears to be focused on his legacy (Brony), while KD is trying to avoid regular first round exits! Klay’s selection of Dallas as his FA designation is barely a positive +- for Dallas as Klay will merely be sharing playoff hunting designee as a vulnerable veteran defender with Kyrie and Luka!

      I meant during the time when both teams are subbing out their starters.
      Like how the Pacers have a strong bench and the Nuggets and Suns have a weak bench, and the 76ers couldn't score in the playoffs when Embiid was on the bench.
      But sorry for the confusion with my wording.

      @@1O1O11 I was less confused with the wording, rather more confused with the proposal.
      Unless its 6 minuted left in the final quarter of a 40 point blow out, teams dont empty their bench to bout it out. This is more of a "Batman vs Predator" fantasy, mostly fictional situation. In the situations it could be real, one of those teams would never be even considered for this list, anyway.
      So i just took it as a question of teams with competing depth, used in a real, nightly game way.
      Meaning teams with a complete starting line up (which will vary given coaching and style construction) of 5 with 2 to 4 bench players who come in at various points during a game in place of 1, 2, 3 starters at a time. And when gking against PO teams, wont function in the negative.
      I will admit i completely overlooked the Pacers and the Suns should probably be a more "maybe" team.

  • @joeldriver-sp2rg

    Trading Giddey for Caruso was idiotic and makes no sense since Giddey's ceiling is infinitely higher and he's only 21 with many years to improve and they didn't need another wing player. OKC lost that trade. That being said I think Caruso will do ok but he's not as good as Wiggins. They're worse from that trade no question. The addition of Hartenstein is great and everything but let's remember Presti gave away Sengun and Lively, either of which would have been perfect for what they needed.

    • @simonkingi01

      Thunder are looking for a championship. Giddey and Sengun have high ceilings but you need to be able to shoot and defend to run with this squad.

      @@simonkingi01 LMAO 2 years ago Giddey averaged 17/8/6 in 31 minutes per game. Sengun averaged 21/9/5 last year. Both are extremely gifted offensive players. If Sengun had been on the team last year they most likely would have won a championship. He's that good. He'll be an all star at some point and so will Giddey.

    • @babybenj52
      @babybenj52 Месяц назад +2

      Trading Giddey was a great basketball move for this team in particular. Giddey definitely does have potential only being 21 but that potential that right now with a Thunder team he didn't mesh too well with. He's a good passer, driver and rebounder but his shooting and defense is horrible and taints the teams chemistry and momentum. Opponents have clearly adjusted how they defend him which made it harder on the others to stay heavily consistent with their game. He became a liability that the Thunder could no longer afford. He's not even a great ball handler either as his carelessness drives us Thunder fans crazy at times. His defensive prowess was atrocious which hindered all the effort of the others on the floor with him. His confidence was shot due to the allegations and that could be the main reason for his up and down game but even still he did more harm than good...I really like Giddey and wish him well. On the other hand, you won't have those issues with Caruso, who's an all NBA defender and deep threat that teams have to account for on both sides of the ball. Has playoff and championship pedigree and a seasoned NBA IQ that will maybe take Josh 3-4 years to achieve. OKC's window is open and they're taking advantage of that, so I don't get where you're saying they lost that trade when they got a better overall player added to the roster. You brought up Wiggins...I believe he will learn a lot from Caruso as his game is very similar to his, as is Cason's. In my eyes, them having that mentorship only benefits the Thunders depth. You have to take notice to what the bigger picture of adding Caruso does for the Thunder, something Giddey doesn't have and is not guaranteed to have. Caruso has proven his value. Great trade Sam.

    • @joeldriver-sp2rg
      @joeldriver-sp2rg Месяц назад

      @@babybenj52 Giddey shot 1% less on 3s than SGA. What are you basing that his shooting was horrible because it's not stats or facts. He was a starter on a team that just finished 1st in the west and came within a play of making the western conference finals but he was a "liability"?? LMFAO I'll take that kind of "liability" all day long on my team. Presti just broke up this team and there's no guarantee they will ever be as good as they were last year or make it that far in the playoffs. We all saw what happened when he traded Harden. They never made it back to the finals even with 2 MVP level players. Presti might very well have just ruined a dynasty.

      @@joeldriver-sp2rg you can't even compare Josh with Shai offensive nor defensive wise. Josh was an offensive liability and everyone knows that. When teams are letting their centers sag off while the stars are catching double teams. Shai's +/- is light years above Josh's as well. Shai can get his own shot every time down the court but Josh is not him like Shai is and that's ok. Josh will get that opportunity in Chicago, best of luck to him. Sorry your feelings are hurt but Sam is praised for the work he's done for the team...good job Sam.
