It's crazy to see how quickly Presti turned this team around. After we lost Russ, it was full on rebuild mode and the fans here in OKC HATED IT. We had been so conditioned to top notch BBall that anything less was unacceptable to most. BUT I knew Presti was something special and was looking forward to see what he would do. It's been an amazing ride and he's definitely not done yet!! I can't wait till October to check out this new team. I'm so stoked and now my friends are all coming back into the fold and gearing up for what might be our first championship season!!
Naw, only the fair weather OKC Thunder fans hated it. The real, ride or die fans knew what the tank was attempting to achieve & enjoyed it for what it was, no doubt.
We have so many different ways our lineup can end up. SGA at the point either Caruso or Dort at the 2 Dort or Jdub at the 3 Jdub or Chet at the 4 Chet or IHart at the 5. 🤯🤯🤯
@@Bdx357 don’t know if it was Ainge alone, trading Tatum for Fulz was genius. Boston fans where frustrated about his attitude to win every trade and leck of moves to improve a contender to a favorite. That part falls to Brad Stevens
It's a long season. Everyone seems to be assuming that OKC will start both Holmgren and Hartenstein together. I see that against some teams, but more often than not, I see them spelling one another. Likewise, I envision Caruso playing the Manu Ginobli role, a superior 6th Man to spell SGA and then return to help dominate the 4th Quarter of games. But he will likely start in the playoffs.
Our team is so much better we have so many ways are starting lineup can end up. SGA at pg either Caruso or Dort at sg Jdub or Dort at the 3 Chet at the 4 IHart at the 5 or Jdub 4 and Chet 5
Hartenstein and Caruso will both start moving Dort to the bench. I can't see any way that doesn't happen. I'll be interested to see how the dynamic of playing two 7 footers plays out because it dang sure works well for Minnesota and Dallas. It will dramatically change how we match up with both of those teams (and also Denver) and they're going to be who we have to beat to get to the finals.
Need to trade some draft picks for for Laurie out in Utah. Missed out on drafting Tennessee star and let the Lakers get their meet hooks on them. Not a fan of drafting a hurt point guard over the Tennessee star Dalton K. in a win now mode.
It’s still an overpay IMO. His role is one of the more easily replicable but essential roles. The part that really cancels out the over pay is that it’s a 2 year deal with a team option at the same time that Chet, and JDUB have to sign their rookie extension. They needed a “big” contract in order to make a potential big move, and the money essentially has to be used, and it’s not like the Thunder were gonna land some big free agent that made any sense.
@@lasooo7389it’s going to be the case all the time for OKC. They’ll probably always have to overpay to get a FA coming from contending teams out of big cities. It’s not an overpay at all if you consider he shores up the one weakness OKC had which was rebounding. OKC lost minutes to Dallas when Chet was off because they had no one else over 6’10 they could play with Lively and Gafford. This changes all of that pretty drastically. Not an overpay at all
What this shit backfires. Caruso man?😂😂 It's a steal dealing what we traded, but literally is Lu Dort just .8 with steals, and 2.0 better at passing. Hartstein over Claxton😂😂😂😂 this small ball shit finna get just killed again
For 2 or 3 picks more, they could've gotten a way better version of the same player in Mikal Bridges. I don't see a dynasty with this team currently. They need to start getting more high quality pieces. Presti is starting to look like he might repeat what he did with the KD Thunder, letting great talent go and taking downgraded talent in return just to save picks the team doesn't even need. They need win now players that give them more insurance come playoff time. Caruso and Hartenstein aren't giving you 20-27 points I'm when you need it in a crucial game where one of your other stars is getting shut down and they aren't averaging 17ppg in a big series where one of your stars is struggling likewise. Presti needs to start taking bigger cuts at player acquisition.
Somebody needs to say it: drafting all those ones and twos for the next four years means having to cut almost all of 'em. YOU HAVE TO BUNDLE AND TRADE THEM. NOW. GET TO IT PRESTI!
Trade them for who? You have future stars on the roster , the key is to have a great supporting cast around them at all times… You keep the picks or use them to trade up in the draft… the guys you’re worried about cutting will go to the G league, whoever pans out will make the rotation while still being on a rookie contract. That’s how we build continuous depth while staying under the cap. SGA & JDub will be super max players
@@cornellcuffey1894 Certainly this is no time to argue with the decisions of a great decider, Sam Presti. Or is it? Didn't three MVPs pass through this team with nary a ring to show for it? Maybe my suggestions, and people agreeing with them, and clicking thumbs up, will eventually lead to Presti getting this message. I will get the ball rolling by doing some clicking right now.
I agree. It's time to trade a chunk of those picks for one more really good player and worry about the money when the time comes. I think Utah has a player that we could take a look at. 🤔
@@MJ-pk4gh Four 1s for Lori? That would help both teams. Three 1s + Gordon Haywood + Cason Wallace for Lori? That would hurt OKC a little, but still doable.
How? Okc fixed the rebounding with hart and added more defense. Can’t help Dallas role players had the series of their life against the thunder. Where was that pj in the finals 🤷♂️
Dallas only beat the Thunder because the thunder had no experience, no size, and no rebounding, not only that but everyone but shai had the worst games of their careers while everyone but Luka had the best games of their careers, OKC fix their flaws so Dallas has no chance with OKC now.
At some point Presti will be held accountable and expected to win the whole thing….when that happens, I’ll be interested if you glazers are still so positive 😂
Obviously sam has evolved over time, he's always drafted well but never really built the team the right way back then around his stars. He's a totally different man now and already has made the decision of which 3 out of the 4 players he'll keep. Giddey was the odd man out and everyone agrees he made the right decision to keep chet, dub, and shai. They are clearly the big 3 in okc and sam continues to build and add talent around those guys. He truly is going about things the right way and any nba team would kill to have a gm like him even your favorite team.
Exactly. Still lacks playoff experience by the time playoff actually start for the most part, and would get stomped on by the Mavs again if that’s the reason why. Never seen a team like them get glazed so much this offseason and are considered to win it all as if everyone’s already ignored the fact they got knocked out of the playoffs in the second round by a 5 seed Mavs that beat them to the WCF and Finals. Not gonna be surprising if OKC Dallas short to them again for that specific reason, even when it seems like they added 2 guys to help improve defense, but one of them being Hartenstein could be a signing the Thunder could regret making if he’s not gonna play that good.
In Sam Presti, we trust
Scared money don’t make none.
